It’s a little embarrassing to do song sequences-Ajay Devgn

0

Ajay Devgn has learnt the art of mastering every genre in the book. Any wonder then that his follo’ers hang onto every word this usually taciturn actor utters. To hear the entire conversation log onto www.follo.co.in/ajay on your mobile

Indu Mirani (BOMBAY TIMES; May 10, 2013)

Which genre are you most comfortable in? An actor’s job is to act. I like to constantly switch genres so that each time I am doing something different.

What’s your take on being called the most bankable star? I really don’t know what being the most bankable star means, but I really think it’s when you select your films right. When you do films, some are going to work and some aren’t. I’d just say it’s thanks to right choices and audiences’ love.

Is Ajay a good cook or a foodie? I’d say both. I do not eat a lot, but I love good food. I also cook very well. My daughter and my family loves my food and I can cook everything and anything. It relaxes me.

How do you keep the romance in your marriage alive? I think the bottom line is how do you keep your marriage alive and that is by understanding each other, by being friends with each other, by not taking each other for granted, by caring for each other. It’s everything put together. You really have to know what the other person needs and wants and what you want and you have to strike a good balance.

On being a doting father to Nysa and Yug… My priority today is my children and will always be. It’s an amazing feeling. Am I a good father or not is a More >

Kajol

Actor Kajol who has just returned from a family vacation abroad seems to be in no mood to get partying again. So, the actress who is celebrating her birthday today, hopes to make it a quiet family affair.

Talking about her plans for the day, Kajol revealed, “I’m just having a quiet lunch with family.” Expected to join the Bolly star in this family affair is mum Tanuja and sister, actor Tanisha Mukherjee. According to sources, there were apparently plans for the family to head out of town for the weekend, however, work commitments may not make it possible for the star couple to do so.

Says a source, “Kajol is an absolute homebody, so she would rather celebrate her birthday at home with Ajay, kids — Nysa and Yug — and family, than head out for a big party with friends. Of course, her good friends from the industry always make it a point to wish her first thing in the day, but for her it’s a complete family affair all the way.”

Meanwhile, the actor is all set to be seen on the big screen as she will be making a cameo in good friend, filmmaker Karan Johar’s forthcoming Student of The Year. “Kajol will enter at quite a crucial point in the film and though a cameo, has an interesting part in the film,” said KJo.

Moving away from the usual ‘success party’ routine, Ajay Devgn has decided to celebrate the box office numbers of his last release Bol Bachchan with his wife Kajol, and kids Nysa and Yug in Europe. Mirror has learnt the actor has planned a ten-day vacation with his family starting this Wednesday.

A friend of the actor revealed, “Ajay is flying on Wednesday with Kajol and the kids. He will be back from Europe after ten days. He will then start shooting a song with Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt for Son Of Sardaar by the end of this month.”

Incidentally, Devgn has always liked celebrating the success of his films with his family. “After Singham released, he took his family on a quick trip to Dubai. He tries to spend time with his family whenever possible,” said the friend.

The holiday will also double up as a pre-birthday celebration for Kajol, who turns a year older on August 5.

Kajol holds forth on fitness, living life on her own terms, parenting and making yet another comeback in films

Upala KBR (BOMBAY TIMES; May 29, 2012)

At home, Kajol is the perfect daughter, wife and mother. At work, she is an actress in a league of her own, and remains unaffected by the stardom around her. After taking a breather from films post the birth of her second child, Kajol is gearing up to act in films again. She’s lost weight and looks fit and glowing when I meet her at her Juhu bungalow. She is supervising lunch for her two children, Nysa and Yug, as I walk in. Excerpts from a chat with the fiery Kads:

You’ve lost your post-pregnancy weight. I took nearly a year to get back into shape in a gradual, healthy way so I could go around doing what I wanted to rather than putting my life on hold and being hellbent on losing weight! I followed a diet and regular workouts. Fitness has to be a part of your life, and not take over your entire life. I control my diet as I believe I have to take care of myself. I intend to live at least till I’m 100, so I should take care as I have some 70 years to go (laughs)! Having said that, I have my regular life, I go on holidays, etc. I am obsessed with fitness, not with losing weight.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan came under a lot of criticism because she hasn’t lost her post-pregnancy weight. (Snaps) It’s stupid to have this conversation. Everyone has the right to their lives and to look the way they want to! Tomorrow I can put on 25 More >

Kajol

It’s been two years since actor Kajol made her last big screen outing. But the actor, who’s busy being a mom to her two kids — daughter Nysa and son Yug — insists that she’s in a very comfortable space, taking things at her own pace. “I’m in no rush to get back to films, but if I do get a fab script, I’ll sign it right away,” she says. The draw, explains the actor, can only be a strong script. “I will only take up a film if it can justify my spending that much time away from my kids,” adds Kajol as she settles down for a tete-a-tete.

Q: So, how was Mother’s Day? A: Fun! Every day, every moment I get to spend with my kids is special for me. I really like and enjoy being with them. As for my mom (actor Tanuja) well, she has fractured her hand and is in Lonavala, so I just wished her on phone.

Q: Do your kids watch your movies? A: Yug is too small, and Nysa doesn’t like my movies. She likes me as an actor, but doesn’t like it when she sees me cry onscreen and I have done that quite often in my last few films (laughs). But she loves watching Jay’s (hubby actor Ajay Devgn) films and keeps telling me, ‘Why can’t you be as cool as him?’

Q: So, will you have that in mind when you sign your next film? A: May be. I would like to do some fun thing now, but like I said, it has to be a strong enough role to attract me first.

Q: Do you miss the archlights? A: I miss the crafting of a character, but not being in front of a camera More >

Kajol is one superstar who knows where her priorities lie

Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; December 25, 2010)

Eros International and Big Screen Entertainment’s Toonpur Ka Superrhero that released worldwide on December 24 is Kajol’s last film for the next three years at least.

This superstar wife and one of Bollywood’s most talented actress’ says, “I need the break and my kids Nysa and Yug need me. Till Yug is three to four years of age and Nysa becomes older, I want to spend all my time with them. They are priority; they always will be.”

Kajol is happy that her last release before her sabbatical is Kireet Khurana’s Toonpur Ka Superhero. “This is a film that my daughter Nysa loved,” she says. “And, of course, so did my mother.” As Bollywood goes into the awardsseason gear, Kajol knows that she will be up for nominations for at least two films in 2010–Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan and Siddharth Malhotra’s We Are Family.

Being the pragmatic person she is, the actress says, “I have worked very hard on MNIK, We Are Family and Toonpur for that matter. So, I guess I do deserve the accolades. However, I’m not losing sleep over whether I win an award for best actress or not. As it is I lose enough sleep over my babies.”

She is also slightly reserved on her husband Ajay Devgn, who is currently riding a crest. Says she, “I am excited about the way his career is going. But beyond that, there is nothing I can say.” Though she is ‘madly-in-love’ More >

Ajay Devgn is now known as Bollywood’s Mega Hit Man

Meena Iyer | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; November 27, 2010)

Ajay Devgn rose like a phoenix from the ashes of London Dreams and a couple of equally indifferent releases last year, jumped straight into the super league in 2010 and is still breathing fire into sublime and ridiculous films. The actor with the intense eyes and brooding looks went on to win accolades and box office through the year. On last count, four of Ajay’s movies — Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, Raajneeti, Golmaal-3 (still running) and Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai (crossed the 100-days run) had grossed around Rs. 350 crores. “In a year that has had barely 12 hits out of almost 130 odd films, Ajay’s box office contribution this year is the highest so far,” says a leading distributor from North India. Trade guru Taran Adarsh adds, “This year’s has been a landmark year for Ajay personally and professionally. Not only have his movies generated huge box office, he also won rave notices for Raajneeti, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, Aakrosh and G-3. He also had a son (Yug) this year so personally it has been gratifying.”

Amod Mehra, Bollywood’s frank speak trade encyclopedia, says, “I would go on to add that when the year ends Ajay will be the Hero No.1. After all, he has managed a fantastic ratio. G-3’s Mumbai collections are higher than that of Dabangg. One hears from producers that Ajay’s remuneration stands doubled. And he is still not More >

A name not just transcends race and colour but even borders and time. In the case of Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s baby boy, his name is sure to run through the ages. The Bollywood couple have named their newborn son Yug, who was born earlier this week.

The name Yug in Sanskrit translates to Aeon in English, originally though the name meant ‘life’ or ‘being’, now, it can also translate to ‘eternity’ or ‘era’. This comes after their daughter Nysa who was named after the goddess of beauty in Greek mythology.

Further to ensue the protection of the new born Kajol has joined hundreds of other women who have stored their umbilical cord blood and tissues, which act as a stemcell source and help protect their children from several serious ailments.
