Multiplexes in Mumbai stop MNIK bookings

With the Shiv Sena going on the rampage against the theatres screening My Name Is Khan, the sudden and violent change of stance after indicating a truce has shocked the film industry.
Several Sena dominated pockets of the city including Mulund, Kanjurmarg, Ghatkopar and Chembur witnessed attacks on theatres planning to screen My Name Is Khan. Huma Adlabs, Shreyas, Ashish and Metro were among the theatres attacked.
Yesterday, the film’s producer Karan Johar met up with Police Commissioner D Sivanandan to discuss the situation. While the police has warned of strict action against troublemakers and over 200 arrests were made on Tuesday, the situation remains volatile. And bearing the brunt are the theatres.
“We are waiting to hear from the distributors (Fox Cinemas) to take an official stand on whether or not to go ahead with the release of My Name Is Khan. It is as much their decision as ours,” said Shunali Shroff of Fame Big Cinemas, adding, “Hopefully, by Wednesday morning, things should get resolved.”
Devang Sampat, GM Marketing, Cinemax said, “We are yet to take a call on this. I have still to speak to the operation team since this is more of an operation call.”
Meanwhile, in an interview to a television channel, Shah Rukh Khan said that while he has had a warm relationship with Bal Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray, he didn’t feel there was anything he had said which he should apologise for. He also said that he had not sought any appointment with them to sort out the issue.
It may be recalled that the Shiv Senas had taken an objection to Shah Rukh’s comment that Pakistani cricket players should be allowed to play in the IPL.
At the time of going to press, representatives from all the multiplexes were in a meeting with Chief Minister Ashok Chavan to find a solution to the impasse.

Katrina Kaif has not been keeping well for almost a month. Few days ago, the actress was admitted to the hospital due to low haemoglobin count. After several tests, the doctors attending on her identified the cause of her persisting illness as endometrioma, for which she was operated.
Katrina was admitted to a South Mumbai hospital and was operated on Wednesday morning. A source reveals, “Katrina had an operation on Wednesday morning and the surgery went on for an hour. It is a one-time surgery and there are no after-effects. She is fine now and has been advised rest for two days. She will be discharged today evening and can return to work after that.”
About Endometrioma
Endometrioma is caused by endometriosis, and is formed when a tiny patch of endometrial tissue (the mucous membrane that makes up the inner layer of the uterine wall) bleeds, sloughs off, becomes transplanted, and grows and enlarges inside the ovaries.
Priyanka stops flight for her Raja!

Star is as star does. An actress as successful Priyanka Chopra can well-afford to pull strings to get whatever she wants. Take the case of what happened on Wednesday morning when Priyanka was travelling from Delhi to Bangalore for the promotion of her film Kaminey. When one of the boys from her entourage, Raja, couldn’t reach the airport on time to catch the flight, Priyanka made sure that he boarded the flight and travelled with her.
A source said, “Priyanka was in Delhi and the Kaminey unit was to board a flight to Bangalore. When Priyanka, who was about to board the flight, realised that Raja had not reached the airport on time, she promptly got in touch with the airport officials and refused to board the flight till she found Raja. When other crew members of the film started searching for Raja, they realised that he was still stuck in the line to get his boarding pass where there was a lot of chaos for some reason. Priyanka then requested the officials to make sure that he boarded the flight. She even enquired when the next flight is. On Priyanka’s insistence, the airlines officials made sure that Raja got the flight. The actress only boarded the flight after Raja found her.” Priyanka’s spokesperson said, “Priyanka was concerned about Raja as he had not reached on time to catch the flight. There was also another crew member who was delayed. Priyanka did not want them to be stranded at the airport and that’s why she spoke to the airline authorities and made sure that Raja caught the flight or got the next flight. There was a delay as there was a mad rush at the airport that day. It’s not that she stopped the flight. She only got to know that Raja had not boarded the flight after she was already seated in the aircraft.” |
In spite of Ram Gopal Varma’s loud protestations about the writer’s claim being nothing more than an attempt to make mileage just days before his film’s release, to avoid an impending stay order on the release of his
