John Abraham talks about his split with Bips, love for Deepika and plans for the future

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 21, 2011)

A lot of things have changed in the life of John Abraham. He has not only developed his meso-ectomorph body for Nishikant Kamath’s next film Force, but also looking forward to a fresh new beginning with films like Shootout At Wadala and Desi Boyz. While the actor has surely reached an enviable physical state, the same cannot be said about his emotions.

Opening up about his decade-long relationship with Bipasha Basu, the actor told Mumbai Mirror, “Whatever had to happen has happened. I think we needed to move on. And we did just that.” Denying all speculations about John cheating on Bipasha being the reason behind the breakup, the actor said, “Speculations and perceptions are usually wrong. This one is no exception. I respected Bipasha when she was in my life. I still respect her when she is not in my life.”

Bipasha seems to have no such inclinations to even greet her ex. The actress had famously said, “I don’t believe in wasting a minute over someone who doesn’t value me.” The actor however, said that he doesn’t believe in washing his dirty linen in public. “Bipasha and I respected what we had. We are now in different spaces. Think of it, what’s the point in tracing backwards?” quipped John.

Akshaye Khanna wins over Shriya Saran?

Akshaye Khanna, known to be rather reticent, has won the affections of Shriya Saran, who previously was linked to Salman Khan and Indian cricketer Sreesanth

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 20, 2011)

He is one of the industry’s most reticent actors. But it seems that Akshaye Khanna’s mild demeanour is working in his favour. Reportedly, the actor has managed to win over the girl that Salman Khan and cricketer Shreesanth could not hold on to. A source informed us that Akshaye and his Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai co-star Shriya Saran have hit it off very well.

The source told us that the two, who have been filming in Bhopal for Rumi Jaffrey’s directorial venture, have been spotted cozying up to each other for the past 15 days. “Shriya and Akshaye hit it off from the get-go.

Akshaye has been going out of his way to help her perfect her sequences in the film, since she is more familiar with South Indian cinema. It is clear that they are a couple. Everybody on the sets is talking about their relationship, albeit in hushed whispers,” said the source.

And it seems that this new development is a stark change from Akshaye’s dating track record. The source explained, “Akshay is very reticent and withdrawn.

He rarely mixes with his co-stars. But his affinity for Shriya is crystal clear. Shriya is exactly opposite in nature. She is a social butterfly. It really seems that opposites attract”

The actor was previously dating actress Tara Sharma. However, in January 2006, the More >

Done with keeping her relationship under wraps, the actress let her hair down with Punit Malhotra

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 19, 2011)

Some are not scared to flaunt their beaus. Some just take time. It took Sonam Kapoor and Punit Malhotra a good 30 months to come out in the open. But finally, the actress and the young director made their liaison official. On Thursday night, at Imran Khan’s bash at his Bandra residence, Sonam and her I Hate Luv Storys director Punit threw caution to the wind and behaved like a pair of besotted lovebirds.

An eyewitness revealed, “Though Sonam and Punit entered the party separate, once inside Imran’s house, the two stuck to each other throughout. They looked like they were in a very happy and comfortable space together.”

Sonam and Punit, it may be recalled, have been extremely discreet about their relationship. Three months back, while dining at a popular suburban restaurant, Sonam and Punit were spotted by a journalist. Realising that the cameraman present at the restaurant had started filming them, Punit instantly sneaked out and ran, while Sonam took charge of telling the reporter off.

The relationship that was kept under covers so far, managed to attract much attention at the party at Imran’s home, which was attended by Deepika Padukone, her beau Siddhartha Mallya, Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao. UTV CEO Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Kunaal Roy Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Shahid Kapoor and Abbas Tyrewala among many others.

Vickey Lalwani and Nazia Sayed (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 19, 2011)

On Saturday evening, Bobby Darling decked himself up and got ready to hit a gay party held in Oshiwara (Andheri, West). Little did Bobby know that the night, which began with a lot of fun and frolic would end with him in custody. The actor was arrested by cops who raided the party at 1.30 am. He was caught in a compromising position with one of the many revelers at the do.

The police raided the party after the neighbours complained about the loud music that was being played. “The cops came rather unexpectedly, just when every person at the party was having his share of fun. They stopped the party and made a few arrests as well. Bobby too was led away by them,” informed a source.

“Bobby was petrified when he realised that the cops were booking him for indecent behaviour. He tried to argue with them in vain. The police knew what they were doing,” added the source.

The actor who was caught in an indecent position at the party, however tried to defend himself. “I was not indulging in any immoral act. It was just that the police swooped down at the party and took us away. I happened to be one of those taken to the police station. But I was soon let off. You see, I had gone to the party as a celebrity. I was paid for it quite well,” said Bobby Darling.

A few raunchy scenes in the trailer of the actress’ forthcoming film The Dirty Picture were cut to meet the censor board’s demands

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 17, 2011)

Ekta Kapoor’s attempts at getting bolder with her films have just been thwarted. The Censor Board has objected to the second trailer of her upcoming film The Dirty Picture, directed by Milan Luthria.

The officials felt that the trailer in question is too explicit and thus not fit for theatrical or television exhibition, unless it is given an A certificate.

A source revealed, “The producers wanted a U/A for the trailer. They wanted the promo to be shown with as many films as possible starting with Pankaj Kapur’s Mausam, which is expected to hit the theatres next week.”

The censors had objected to various scenes in the trailer and the producers had to make quite a few changes to it. “A lovemaking scene between Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah in the car has been removed.

Certain abusive words in Shah’s dialogue have been muted,” revealed the source and quickly added, “But the entire un-cut trailer is still available on the web.”

When contacted, Balaji Motion Pictures’ CEO, Tanuj Garg said, “The Censor Board felt that a few scenes and words in the trailer might not be appropriate for television and for people watching a U/A film in cinemas. On the other hand, we were clear that we needed a U/A. Hence, we complied with their More >

Not too happy with his friend-turned-foe Sanjay Gupta’s directorial comeback, Sanjubaba sends feelers to lead actor Anil Kapoor asking him to opt out of Shootout At Wadala

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 17, 2011) Sanjay Dutt indirectly asked Anil Kapoor to opt out of Sanjay Gupta’s (below) film

Sanjay Gupta is all set to return to direction after a gap of five years. While Gupta is all excited about taking Ekta Kapoor’s Shootout franchise ahead with John Abraham and Anil Kapoor, his friend-turned-foe Sanjay Dutt is not. According to sources, Dutt has been sending Anil Kapoor feelers asking the latter actor not to be part of the film Shootout At Wadala.

Shootout At Wadala, Gupta’s comeback vehicle is a prequel to the Apoorva Lakhia directed Shootout At Lokhandwala that released in 2007.

Anil Kapoor has been roped in to play encounter specialist Isaque Bagwan in the film alongside John Abraham’s portrayal of the dreaded gangster Manya Surve. And Dutt is not happy with this.

A source told Mumbai Mirror, “Dutt has not told Anil directly but he has sent indirect feelers to the actor. Anil, obviously understands where Dutt’s sentiments come from.” Dutt and Gupta, who had been close friends once upon a time, fell out during the making of Shootout of Lokhandwala over some payment issues. However, Anil Kapoor has remained unaffected by Dutt.

According to the industry insiders, apparently Sanjay had also asked John not to do Gupta’s film. However, that was a More >

UTV’s Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapoor met Abhishek Bachchan in Jaipur to discuss their project Ghanchakkar, taking another step to end the tiff with the Bachchans

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 15, 2011)

It seems that UTV Motion Pictures have pulled all stops to ensure that the production house restores the rapport it once shared with the Bachchan family. Reportedly, on Monday, UTV’s Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapoor went to meet Abhishek, who is currently filming for Bol Bachchan in Jaipur. A source informed that the meeting helped to end all the bad blood between UTV and Abhishek.

The tensions between the production house and the Bachchans brewed when UTV and Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine was caught in a difficult predicament due to the news of their leading lady, Ash’s pregnancy.

Then, on August 30, 2011, Mumbai Mirror reported that UTV decided to extend an olive branch to the family by offering Abhishek a role in their upcoming film Ghanchakkar.

And now we hear, that Screwvala and Kapoor, who flew down to Jaipur to meet the Bol Bachchan director Rohit Shetty, also took the time to meet Abhishek to discuss his role in Ghanchakkar.

“Ronnie and Siddharth had gone to meet Shetty to discuss his upcoming film, which is apparently a remake of the 1983 comedy Angoor. Meeting Abhishek was also high on their list. The meeting was a success. Abhishek gelled very well with Ronnie and Siddharth,” said the source.

The half-Pakistani half-Czechoslovakian actress’ Hindi diction for the sync recorded film Rockstar was not good enough; director finally decided to get her part dubbed

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 15, 2011)

He was rumoured to have fought for Nargis Fakhri to literally have a say in Rockstar. But it seems that even Ranbir Kapoor’s efforts to train his half-Pakistani half-Czechoslovakian co-star to perfect her Hindi diction for Imtiaz Ali’s film have been futile. Reportedly, Nargis, who due to the insistence of Ranbir was supposed to record in sync for her own sequences, will now have her part dubbed by artist Mona Ghosh-Shetty.

A source informed Mumbai Mirror that along with Ranbir, even Imtiaz, had given the actress a few lessons in the language.

The director had instructed the entire cast and crew to converse with Nargis in Hindi, so that she would be prepared to record in sync for the project.

However, after hearing Nargis’ recorded portions, the director decided to reconsider retaining her voice.

“After much deliberation, Imtiaz decided to get Nargis’ voice dubbed. Previously, it seemed that Nargis’ voice would not need dubbing, but now he feels that it is necessary. And so, he has got Mona Ghosh-Shetty to dub for the actress,” said the source.

Reportedly, Ghosh-Shetty has been recording for the past 10 days for Nargis’ parts at the Yash Raj Studio.

Sonam’s the girl in Milkha’s life

The actress has been cast as the female lead in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag opposite Farhan Akhtar

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 13, 2011)

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had been all praises about his Delhi 6 actress Sonam Kapoor ever since he cast her in the film. Looks like the filmmaker is so besotted with Anil Kapoor’s little girl, that he has decided to repeat her in his next project Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a biopic on India’s ace sprinter Milkha Singh.

While Farhan Akhtar will essay the role of the Flying Sikh (Mumbai Mirror, August 14, 2011), Sonam will be the female lead in the film.

Confirming the story, a source told Mumbai Mirror, “Rakeysh has a very easy working relationship with Sonam. He enjoyed working with her in Delhi 6. Also, he believes that Sonam has a lot of potential as an actress.”

Rakeysh, according to the source needed the female lead of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to be somebody who can carry off a village damsel look perfectly.

Considering Sonam’s avatar in Delhi 6 and the soon to be released Mausam, she seemed to fit the role to the T. “Rakeysh wanted somebody who can carry off a desi avatar. Sonam’s face and style suited the image,” said the source.

Sonam, however is still to sign on the dotted line. A friend of the actress told Mumbai Mirror, “Sonam is still in advanced talks. But yeah, she will do the film. She is very kicked about working with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Farhan Akhtar.”
