I wish I was manipulative-Vikas Bhalla
0Neha Maheshwri Bhagat (BOMBAY TIMES; May 19, 2012)
He’s acting in Uttaran, one of the longest running shows on television, yet Vikas Bhalla’s first passion remains music. Give him time for his riyaaz and to play his piano and he is happy. He understands the responsibility of replacing the actor who established the character Veer, but has no apprehensions about playing it. The new Veer divulges the reason behind taking up the show and talks about his personal life…
Why did you agree to take up an older character post leap in Uttaran? Don’t you fear getting typecast? It’s a popular show and I was offered the central character. Secondly, my son’s name is also Veer. There is no apprehension of being typecast. In fact, I am now being offered roles completely different from what I am playing currently.
Is there a lot of anxiety as TRPs have dipped since the leap? I blame it on the IPL. However, the Ichcha-Veer track is going to pick up soon. It’s not easy to step into someone’s shoes since that face is already established. One has to break the set image and start afresh.
Your claim to fame till date remains your music album Dhuan though you also did a film opposite Kajol apart from other movies? What went wrong on that front? People only notice what’s visible. There is more to me than my music album and movies. I am a producer and I also run a kindergarten. I wanted to become a singer. While I made the rounds of the offices of various music labels, I kept bumping into More >
Veer producer takes Salman to court
0Vijay Galani has filed a legal complaint after the film governing body FWICE asked him to stay away from production until he pays Rs 15 crore to the actor
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 27, 2012)
Producer of the 2010 film Veer, Vijay Galani has taken his war against Salman Khan to the court. Galani, who was banned from filmmaking by FWICE (Federation Of Western India Cine Employees) following a complaint lodged by Salman with the film governing body, has filed a legal suit against FWICE a couple of days back. The case will be heard at the Dindoshi court today.
“The Non-Cooperation Directive issued against me is illegal. If it had to be issued it had to be in conjunction with AMTPP (Association of Motion Pictures Producers’ Association). But AMTPP has not endorsed it. I can make a film whenever I want to. This is sheer torture. I want to resolve this. I have done no wrong,” Galani told Mumbai Mirror.
The filmmaker was accused of not paying Salman Khan a sum of Rs 15 crore for the actor’s role in his 2010 production. The actor had then approached the FWICE, who in turn had passed the directive against Galani.
Galani had then told Mumbai Mirror, “Unnecessarily, people have accused me of not paying Salman his dues. I am clean. I know what I am saying. I have kept quiet for too long. Not anymore though,” and added, “Why doesn’t Salman talk to me if he has a problem? You know what, I have met him at least seven to eight times in the past and he has never mentioned More >
Who is Salman’s sabse favourite?
0By Joginder Tuteja, May 7, 2011 – 14:26 IST
No one may be saying that yet but the battle lines have clearly been drawn between Asin and Zarine. ‘Sabse Favourite Kaun’ could well be the question for Salman who has ensured that both women, who are currently on his ‘I-am-going-to-make-them-superstar’ list, do get their share of fun and fame as he gets ‘ready’ for his next outing.
“As of now, Salman isn’t playing a favourite here but the fact remains that both Asin and Zarine are vying for his attention”, says a source attached to the film, “It is known to all that Asin is his leading lady in the film while Zarine is just for the song and dance sequence. Still, to ensure that his ‘Character Dheela‘ jig with Zarine doesn’t steal Asin’s thunder, he has gone an extra mile to make his ‘ Dhinka Chika‘ with her as extra special.”
Resultantly, added emphasis has been placed on ‘Dhinka Chika‘ to make it stand out from the crowd.
Meanwhile Zarine is happy that after a classy portrayal in her debut film Veer, she has now managed immediate attention for herself courtesy her ‘bindaas’ act in ‘Character Dheela‘. Asin is closely studying this as well and wants to make sure that with ‘Dhinka Chika‘ she gets her share of action.
“No actress would want to go through the route that Bipasha had to for Dum Maaro Dum“, says a trade insider, “Despite her being the sole leading lady in the film, it was Deepika’s item number for the title song that grabbed maximum eyeballs. Now More >
No need to be insecure about Salman Khan-Zarine Khan
0…Since the actor gives equal attention to all women in his life, says Zarine Khan who finds it tough to go through life as a Katrina look-alike
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 05, 2011)
To a girl looking in from the outside, being labelled a Katrina Kaif doppelganger would be a compliment worthy to boost a young lady’s self-esteem for quite sometime. But for Salman’s protégé Zarine Khan, who has been trying to recover from her debut in the box-office flop Veer, it has been more of a bane in her professional life.
The actress revealed, “You know after the release of Veer, I was lost. The film did not do as well as expected and I was not getting big offers.
Only new directors were approaching me. Then, there were all these comparisons about me being a Katrina Kaif look-alike and how I would eventually disappear like Sneha Ullal.
I was very insecure and had no film background. However, it’s been over a year and with work coming in, I have been able to dispel all talks about me disappearing. However, now I have to shed one more issue and that’s being a Katrina look alike.”
The uncanny resemblance to Kaif has funnily enough made people believe Zarine too is from the UK. And with her British background being spread with conviction she is rumoured to have difficulty speaking Hindi. However, Zarine set the record straight, as she said, “There is this misconception that I am from UK and I am 26-27 years old.
The fact is I have been born and More >
Salman Khan’s leading ladies get catty
0Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; April 29, 2011)
Last week after the music launch of Ready, Salman Khan decided to hold an impromptu bash at his house. Leading lady Asin, as well as Zarine Khan who has done an item song in the film, got the invitation at the venue itself. Others received calls from Salman to join in the celebrations. Sonakshi Sinha joined the revellers at the Dabangg actor’s pad later that night.
It has been reported that Sonakshi is super possessive about the actor and doesn’t like other actresses cosying upto him. But this time she made a show of her anger. An eye-witness reveals, “She pushed Zarine, while walking past her, and then pretended that she hadn’t even realised it!” It is known that Salman has a soft spot for both Sonakshi as well as Zarine and has been recommending their names to filmmakers. He is partial to them because they debuted with him — Zarine in Veer and Sona in Dabangg.
The insider continues, “It was such a sight. We thought a catfight would break out. We didn’t know where to look and whether to laugh. When Sona first walked in, she walked past Zarine, without greeting her. Later when she saw that ZK was bonding with Salman and he was introducing her to all her friends, the Dabangg girl couldn’t hide her irritation. Also the fact that Sallu got his buddy Sajid Nadiadwala to cast Zarine in Housefull 2 was still bothering her. Never mind the fact that he was instrumental in getting her a role More >
Music Review: READY by JOGINDER TUTEJA
0By Joginder Tuteja, April 25, 2011 – 21:13 IST
EXPECTATIONS
Now this is what one calls a perfect project in the making. Salman Khan, Anees Bazmee, Pritam, Bhushan Kumar and that promise of an out and out entertainer – one strongly believes that the music of Ready can’t really go wrong. There are movies that are termed as popcorn entertainers; now here is a soundtrack which one believes would be the kind that would be best enjoyed when being a little high. Though four different lyricists – Amitabh Bhattacharya, Neelesh Misra, Ashish Pandit and Kumaar – are roped in for a song apiece with Devi Sri Prasad also chipping in as a guest composer, you look forward to whether Ready indeed has enough ‘dum’ in it to be the biggest commercial soundtrack of the year so far.

BY BOLLYWOOD HUNGAMA.COMPritam lends a fantastic start to Ready with ‘Character Dheela‘ and what actually catches your instant attention is the fact that despite this being a Salman Khan entertainer, the song has the trademark sound that the composer is known for lending to his songs. If one has liked the kind of tunes that Pritam has composed for Shahid in films like Kismat Konnection, Jab We Met and Badmaash Company, he is bound to totally lap up ‘Character Dheela‘ due to the Salman element being cleverly integrated by Amitabh Bhattacharya through his smart lyrics (don’t miss that reference to ‘Munni‘ and ‘Sheila‘).

Salman pays tribute to classic actors in Ready
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, April 23, 2011 – 12:43 IST
After the smash-hit Dabangg, Salman fans are now eagerly waiting for the superstar’s next film Ready. The film, directed by Anees Bazmee, has Southern beauty Asin paired opposite Salman. However, one of the highlights of the film is a special song called ‘Character Dheela’ picturised on Salman and Zarine Khan.
After Veer, Zarine Khan is seen in a completely different avatar in this rocking track. Besides the song will see Salman and Zarine playing different hit Hindi movie jodis of the past. The uber cool actor will be seen playing ‘Shahzada Saleem’ along with Zarine playing the beautiful ‘Anarkali’ in one act. In another act, we will see Salman and Zarine in the black and white era playing tribute to the showman Raj Kapoor along with Nargis! Yet another sequence will see the two recreate the magic of Viru and Basanti on screen!
This song has been uniquely choreographed by the talented Mudassar Khan who has previously choreographed Salman in the super hit Dabangg as well.
This one sure promises to be a visual treat for Hindi film lovers. Ready is slated for release on 3rd June, 2011.

Salman stretches out for Zarine Khan
0Salman Khan talks director Anees Bazmee into adding more flesh to the Veer girl’s appearance in Character Dheela item number
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 23, 2011)
After Boom, which Katrina would love to ‘beep’ out from her resume, it was Salman Khan who stood by her side and held her hand while she climbed the ladder to stardom. Looks like, the Kat-look-alike Zarine is Mr Do-Gooder Khan’s latest fancy.
Despite her debacle debut in Veer, Zarine is breathing free. Thanks to Salman, the actress not only has a role in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 2, but also has a full-length item song in Ready, for which she was initially signed on for a blink-and-I’m-gone appearance.
Salman Khan is going all out to promote ZarineThe much talked about Character Dheela song initially meant for Jacqueline Fernandes with a small step-in by Zarine was turned into the latter’s number by the leading man himself. Salman gave out strict orders to the unit saying that it should only be Zarine rubbing shoulders with him.
Attributing Jacqueline’s sudden disappearance from the song to ‘date issues’, a source from the film revealed, “Salman ne kaha ki Zarine ko lena hai. And who can argue with Salman? So, Zarine it was.”
The source also went on to add, “It is known that Salman has a soft corner for Zarine. Add this to his helpful nature and you get the complete picture. In other words, Salman ne kisike sar pe haath rakh diya, toh woh uske liye kuch bhi More >
Diana Penty to debut with Saif
0She is the latest supermodel to set her eyes on Bollywood
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; April 22, 2011)
Model Diana Penty has signed Homi Adajania’s film where she will share screen space with Saif Ali Khan. However, the leading lady is Deepika Padukone. The yet untitled movie is set to be shot in London and New Delhi.
Reveals an insider, “Diana went through a round of auditions before she was finalised for the role. Looks like it is a two-heroine film. The crew is presently scouting locations in London and they will start shooting mid-May. Diana went through complete grooming, from diction to acting, before she was signed on. The film is edgy and she will be tested as an actor. She is not just eye-candy in the film.”
The film brings back the Saif-Deepika Love Aaj Kal jodi. Their chemistry had worked in their first film and Homi wants to exploit it further. But this one’s nothing like LAK. It’s a little complex but a thorough entertainer.”
Salman asks Mahesh Manjrekar to join Bodyguard cast
0By Subhash K. Jha, March 18, 2011 – 14:40 IST
Salman Khan is known to ask people close to him to do the oddest of things at the oddest hours. And it’s reciprocal. He can land up at a friend’s doorstep at 1.30 in the night with a self-made painting if he gets to know it’s the friend’s mother’s birthday.
It is therefore no surprise to know that Salman rang up Mahesh Manjrekar recently with an offer he, the director-actor, just couldn’t refuse.
“You’re in Bodyguard,” he told Mahesh Manjrekar who has been angling to get Salman to listen to his script for a film that Manjrekar has been meaning to direct with Salman in the lead for a year now.
Now Manjrekar has to join the Bodyguard team from the April 3.
The funniest part of Salman’s film offer is that Manjrekar is clueless about what he’s supposed to play. This has been the case with every offer for a Salman film in the past two years from Wanted and Dabangg to the under-production Ready and now Bodyguard.
Laughs Mahesh, “He hasn’t told me what I play in Bodyguard. He has just asked me to join the unit. I don’t mind. I never ask him my role. Because I know he’s asking me with a good role in mind. I think Salman prefers me to be an actor. He keeps offering me roles in his films. I don’t get a chance to direct him at all.”
Ever since Manjrekar featured in the Wanted, Salman considers Mahesh Manjrekar a luck mascot.
According to a source, “Before Wanted Salman had a spate of flops like God Tussi Great Ho, Yuvvraaj and More >
