Not only are they playing pivotal roles in Apoorva Lakhia’s Zanjeer 2.0, co-stars Sanjay Dutt and Ram Charan Teja seem to be getting along like a house on fire as well.

Recently, Dutt happened to be shooting at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad when Ram Charan got wind of it. The actor promptly paid Dutt a visit. Finding Dutt in a rather pensive mood, Ram Charan proceeded to enquire, only to find out his kids, who had come over to Hyderabad to meet their dad, had taken ill possibly due to the change in climate.

Upon hearing this, Ram Charan immediately called a team of doctors from Hyderabad’s most famous hospital, located approximately 40 kms away from the film city. Incidentally, Ram Charan’s wife Upasana Kamineni is the grand-daughter of Prathap C Reddy, Executive Chairman of the hospital. So, calling the experts was just a phone call away for him.

A source on the sets told Mirror: “It was a very kind gesture on Ram Charan’s part to call the team of doctors all the way from the hospital. Sanju Baba is relieved that the condition of his children has improved with the timely medication.”

When contacted, Dutt’s spokesperson confirmed the story.

In a star studded function held at Temple Tree resort in Moinabad, Chiranjeevi’s 27-year-old son Ram Charan Teja, who is all set to make his Bollywood debut with the remake of Zanjeer, tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart Upasana Kamineni, granddaughter of Prathap C Reddy, the chairman of a leading hospital and lifecare chain, on Thursday.

A few hours after the wedding, Ram Charan told Mirror, “It’s been one hectic morning for me. That I am married now is yet to sink in. All I can tell you at the moment is, it’s been the best experience of my life.”

Mirror learnt that a rather busy Amitabh Bachchan took time off from his Kaun Banega Crorepati shoot to attend the wedding. He flew to Hyderabad for the wedding at 9 am in a private jet and flew back at 3 pm. Though Kamal Haasan couldn’t be a part of the celebrations, it was one of those rare occasions when superstars Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi and the Big B came together. Boney Kapoor and Sridevi along with Shriya Saran and Rana Daggubatti were there to bless the couple as well.

Curiously no one from Ram Charan’s Zanjeer team showed up at the wedding. Apparently director Apoorva Lakhia had a family engagement, so they all stayed away. Leading lady Priyanka Chopra busy promoting her other film, sent a handpicked gift for the couple.

When contacted. Lakhia said, “But we’re all leaving for Hyderabad very shortly with our gifts. There’s at least three days of festivity More >

Tushar Joshi (BOMBAY TIMES; June 10, 2012)

South star Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja rose to fame with Magadheera in 2009. The 27-year-old, who will soon make his B-Town debut with the Zanjeer remake, is tying the knot with fiancée Upasana Kamineni (granddaughter of Prathap Reddy, the MD of one of the country’s leading pharma companies) on June 14. They got engaged in a private ceremony on December 1 last year, but the wedding promises to be a grand one with top politicians, business barons, actors and socialites from all over the world descending in Hyderabad. Here’s a freewheeling chat with the bride-to-be.

How did you meet Charan? We were introduced through common friends. I was in the US studying, and we would meet when I would come to India for vacations. Over time, we become friends. I feel like I’ve known him from many janams, like 400 years, and the people of the state believe it too, just like in his movie Magadheera!

Tell us about the wedding proposal. He proposed to me on my birthday (July 20) last year. I love surprises, and that was the best one. He surprises me on my birthday every year. I am waiting to see what he has in store for me this year!

How elaborate are the wedding preparations? Our family members are looking after all the details. The guest list is huge, as there are people travelling from all over the world to attend the wedding. I am quite hands-on and More >

Telugu stars seem to find friendly favour with the B-Town Bongshell. After Rana, she’s now friends with Ram Charan Teja

Upala KBR (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 23, 2012)

Bipasha Basu has a thing for Telugu actors. After Rana Daggubati, she’s now bonding with his childhood buddy Ram Charan Teja, (son of Telugu star Chiranjeevi), who makes his Hindi film debut in the Zanjeer remake. An insider reveals, “Bips met Teja last December in Goa where she was shooting. He came there with his fiancée Upasana Kamineni and a bunch of friends. Rana was with Bips. The two couples hung out and even brought the New Year in together.” Teja and the Bong babe kept in touch thereafter. Now that he is in Mumbai shooting for his film, Bips is taking care of him and the two hang out and party together. Just like he did a month ago when she was in Hyderabad. On being asked about her Ram Charan connection, she tersely replies, “He is a friend of mine.”

PARTYING SHOT On Friday night, Bips and Teja were spotted having dinner with a group of friends (and some of her staff) at her favourite restaurant in Mumbai.
