Recently, veteran actor Om Puri went through a health scare when he was diagnosed with typhoid and had to be admitted to a local hospital in Barabanki for three days.

Ever since, there have been alarming reports concerning his health. Speaking to Mirror yesterday afternoon from Barabanki, where he has been shooting for the past fortnight, Om assured he was fine and back on his feet.

“A few days ago, on September 20, I woke up shivering from my afternoon siesta. It scared the hell out of me. I immediately called my assistant, who rang up my producer. Since I know many people in Barabanki, a doctor arrived in no time. After tests, I was found to have typhoid, and admitted in a local hospital for three days. And now I’ve been discharged and advised to take it easy. I plan to resume shooting from Monday,” he said, adding, “I didn’t inform my family members as I didn’t want to frighten them. I just want to eat right and stay fit now.”

An entire set erected in Mumbai for Mausam had to be dismantled, causing the loss

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 19, 2010)

Sonam Kapoor, the Masakalli gal from Delhi 6, is feeling much better now after her bout of typhoid. But her illness and her consequent inability to be present on the shoot of Mausam has caused a big hole in the producer’s pocket. The loss is rumoured to be around Rs 75 lakh.

An entire set for Mausam, directed by Shahid Kapoor’s father, Pankaj Kapur, had to be dismantled in Mumbai recently. “Some romantic scenes of Sonam and Shahid had to be shot.

But since Sonam went on sick leave for a long period, we had no option but to cancel the October shoot. The dismantling of the set caused a big loss to the producer,” says a source.

Adds the source, “The next schedule will now be shot in Gwalior. Sonam might be required but only for a few scenes.”

When contacted, Talwar confirmed, “Sonam couldn’t shoot since she was down with typhoid. We had to dismantle a set in Mumbai and lost Rs 75 lakh. But it’s okay. What is important is that Sonam is better now. No problem about the money. We are insured on that, we’ll recover that at a later date.

And of course, we’ll shoot the Mumbai schedule very soon, but that’s only after we complete the Gwalior shoot.”

Last month we had informed you about actress Sonam Kapoor suffering from typhoid. The actress unfortunately has now once again suffered a relapse and is again in ill-health.

Sonam’s health started deteriorating while shooting for Anees Bazmee’s Thank You in Canada. However, being the professional that she is, she didn’t want to put the unit in any sort of problem and continued shooting despite not keeping too well. After returning to India, she underwent some tests and it was diagnosed as typhoid. Even though she undertook treatment, it seems to have relapsed.

Sonam’s parents Anil and Sunita Kapoor are also very concerned about her health and have asked her to take it easy for a few days.

We wish the chirpy actress a speedy recovery.

So desperate is she about him watching her films that she has picked up the DVDs and is heading to his home, once he’s less busy with Guzaarish Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 08, 2010)

Sonam Kapoor is unhappy with her mentor and guide Sanjay Leela Bhansali who launched her in Saawariya.

Says the actress, “He hasn’t watched one of my films since Saawariya. Not Delhi 6, not I Hate Luv Storys, not even Aisha, my home production, which I’m especially proud of. I invited him for a private screening but you know how he is. He’s so consumed by his new film Guzaarish he can’t think of anything else.”

Now Sonam has resorted to taking all the DVDs of her films to his home.

“His opinion of me as an actress is important to me. Unless he says I’ve evolved I won’t fully believe it. But first, let him be done with Guzaarish,” she says as she tries to get her groove back after a nasty bout of typhoid which confined her to her bed for a good three weeks.

Also, a bout of box-office success might also just do the trick.
