Farah on a patch-up overdrive

After making up with SRK, Farah has also patched up with Vidhu Vinod Chopra after 17 years

Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 13, 2011)

This New Year Farah Khan seems to be in the mood to forget all hostilities and to make up with former friends.

After making up with Shah Rukh Khan, Farah Khan has also ended her prolonged 17-year old cold war with Vidhu Vinod Chopra on Tuesday evening at an awards function.

At the awards Vinod Chopra approached a startled Farah and hugged her. The former mentor and protégée were engaged in a conversation for a long time.

Farah’s first independent assignment as a choreographer was Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 1942: A Love Story.

But after the film’s release Chopra and Khan fell out, apparently over some of her comments in an interview about the film. They never spoke thereafter until now.

Says Farah, “Yes, Vidhu and I spoke after many years. It was so long ago I don’t even remember the reason why we fell out.

At an awards function on Tuesday he came and spoke to me, asked me about my kids. We share the same doctor. I showed him my triplets’ pics. We’re fine now. We’ve all matured. And making up is the best part of fighting.” Nice to see you’ve found shanti, Farah.

Farah Khan’s kids – Diva, Czar and Anya – have perhaps not been bitten by the glamour world yet. Even though they were enticed enough to face the camera by their mother Farah Khan (who is the one of the most unabashed ‘masala’ film lover that Bollywood boasts of today), the triplets weren’t excited enough. This resulted in a funny shoot for Tees Maar Khan when the director (softly) called ‘action’.

“Poocho mat. I guess the toughest part of my shoot was to capture my kids well on camera”, Farah says in her inimitable manner, “Shirish and my production house is called ‘Three’s Company’ because of these three kids. As is the tradition with my films, I wanted to feature them for the end credit title roll of Tees Maar Khan. However, they just didn’t seem interested.”

What followed was quite some ‘improvisation’ that the Diva, Czar and Anya indulged in.

“Here I was pampering them with all the nice dresses and goodies. There was a special tuxedo that I had got designed for Czar. On the other hand, my daughters Diva and Anya were made to wear these beautiful birthday party dresses”, informs Farah, “While they were getting all dressed up, they were all fine and smiling. However, when I wanted them to put on their best show for camera, they just walked around at their own will.”

“Guess my famed command didn’t quite work with my own kids this time around”, she jokes, “The kind of expression that the three of them had More >

Akshay embarked on a daily helicopter ride?

Akshay wanted to return home to his son everyday from Malsej, Farah arranged for a daily helicopter ride By Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 11, 2010)

Farah Khan is shooting with Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in Malshej Ghat for Tees Maar Khan, and decided to take her triplets to the 21-day shoot with her.

But the shoot in the ghats is turning out to be an expensive proposition for her. Akshay Kumar has decided he wants to be with his son as well, but in Mumbai.

Akshay declined to stay in Malshej Ghat and said that he would like to return home every day. Farah argued, “I have brought three small kids all the way from Mumbai. Why can’t you stay on?” But Akshay refused to budge.

Like a true friend, Farah arranged a helicopter for him which would take him to the shoot every day and also bring him back. “Akshay told her that he did not want to be away from his son, Aarav, for so long. Farah, being a mother, understood his feelings,” said a source.

Farah’s official spokesperson confirmed the news.

Farah, SLB friends again, courtesy chicken pulao

Farah won over estranged friend Sanjay Bhansali by sending him his favourite chicken pulao on his birthday By Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 26, 2010)

They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. And if this recent incident is anything to go by, the adage is absolutely true. One of the film industry’s important friendships, which had gone sour in 2007, has been revived all thanks to some yummy chicken pulao.

Let’s rewind a bit. Filmmakers Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Farah Khan had become best friends in 1993 during the making of 1942: A Love Story and they regularly used to spend time at each other’s homes. Incidentally, the gregarious Farah was one of the few friends that the reclusive Sanjay had.

However, the Sanjay-Farah friendship went sour when their respective films, Saawariya and Om Shanti Om, clashed at the box office in 2007 on the same Friday, November 9. Consequently, differences cropped up between Sanjay and Farah particularly because the latter passed some unsavory comments against Sanjay’s mother Leela. Sanjay had said then: “Why bring my mother into this unnecessarily, specially since my mother has always shown so much love and affection for Farah? Farah and I go back a long way. We can’t allow one film to sour our relations.”

However, things started looking up lately with Sanjay thinking of getting in touch with his old More >

Farah Khan's song from KITES deleted?

The Roshans delete a song choreographed by Farah Khan from Kites; are yet to inform her about their decision By Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; July 17, 2009) Kites needed a surgical cut to make the length savory for the audience, and a song choreographed by Farah Khan was the first victim. The decision, though cold-blooded, was deemed necessary, but courtesy demands that Farah should have been informed about it. However, for the Roshans, extending the courtesy was not on top of their priority lists. There’s no saving grace here — it doesn’t feature in the Hindi or the English version either.

Although two weeks have lapsed, they still haven’t found the time to speak to Farah and explain their decision. The salsa number was shot over two-and-a-half days with the lead pair, Hrithik and Barbara Mori. The sensuous song weaves in the romance of English and Spanish.

When Rakesh Roshan, Anurag Basu and Hrithik Roshan took the decision, Anurag told Hrithik that he would like to inform Farah about the same. But Hrithik told Anurag that he would do the needful. Strangely, Farah was not informed.

When contacted, Farah confirmed, “I am not aware that my song is not in Kites anymore.”

This must be a blow for Farah Khan, who had taken up very selective work after the delivery of her triplets. Her two assignments had included work for her friends with Billu and Dostana, while Kites was only her third professional assignment.

A source close to the Roshans explained, “A large More >
