Urmila replaces Mallika in Chak Dhoom Dhoom?
0Extreme fatigue debilitated Sherawat when she tried her luck with working for television and she left the show. Of course, the channel is telling us a different story
Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 20, 2011)
We were the first to tell you that Mallika Sherawat was on her way out from the reality television show Chak Dhoom Dhoom (Mumbai Mirror, January 13). It is official now. Sherawat has been shown the door. Urmila Matondkar has stepped into her shoes.
The channel took the final decision last afternoon. Said a source from the channel, “They tried their best to retain Mallika however, her nakhras kept increasing with the passing of everyday. It reached a point of no return and the makers of the show could not take it anymore.”
When contacted, Sherawat confirmed that she had quit Chak Dhoom Dhoom. The otherwise frank and forthcoming actress surprisingly took a diplomatic stand and said, “I had developed date issues and spoke to the channel regarding the same. We have parted ways amicably.”
Sherawat blamed the long hours of working for a television show as the only reason for her “amicable” exit though. “I have shot at a stretch for 15 hours. The next day I had to report for my movie shoot. It was getting very tedious and I didn’t want to harm either of the shoots.
In fact, during my Delhi auditions for Chak Dhoom Dhoom, around 15 days ago, I had messaged the channel. It was extremely difficult to manage and the dates More >
Tusshar won’t tolerate anyone taking potshots at me!-Ekta Kapoor

Ekta Kapoor, who is looking forward to celebrating Raksha Bandhan, says her kid brother is a bit too protective about her
Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; August 24, 2010)
Ever since she can remember, soap queen and ‘hit’ film producer Ekta Kapoor hasn’t missed tying a rakhi on her younger brother Tusshar’s wrist. “My mother (Shobha Kapoor) will absolutely kill him if he misses out on this ritual,” says Ekta.
She laughs and adds, “Sometimes he has to wait till noon for me to wake up as I work until late in the nights. Then I have this whole routine of taking a shower, doing my puja and only after that am I ready for the rakhi ritual. But whatever the situation, my mother will not allow him to leave the house until I have tied him the rakhi.”
Ekta says what she totally loves about Tusshar is the fact that he is very protective about her. “He won’t tolerate anyone taking potshots at me,” she says. “He can take jokes about himself. But if someone says anything derogatory about me, he flares up. Or walks out. I remember that Tusshar refused to go on a television show because someone said something derogatory about me on that very show. It took us great convincing (almost four months) to get him to relent. He is my kid brother but he is a jaan,” she says, basking in her brother’s unconditional love for her. Tusshar on his part doesn’t mind Ekta’s ‘goodnatured’ bullying. In fact, he admires her for the super-success story that she is. Says he, “I More >
Movie Review: LAFANGEY PARINDEY by TARAN ADARSH
2By Taran Adarsh, August 20, 2010 – 17:10 IST
Sometimes, your reputation precedes you. Pradeep Sarkar carries the reputation of making women-centric movies. Films like PARINEETA and LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG prove it. Who would’ve ever thought Sarkar would do a 360 degree turn in his third film by calling it LAFANGEY PARINDEY, set it in a chawl and make his characters speak tapori lingo? Hard to digest, isn’t it? Frankly, the skilled storyteller takes you on a trip least expected from him.
When you attempt something you haven’t attempted earlier or ventured into before, you either fall flat on your face or walk with your chin up in air. Sarkar doesn’t slip, although LAFANGEY PARINDEY does have its share of hiccups that show up intermittently. Unlike PARINEETA and LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG, Sarkar narrates a simple story this time around and though it has nothing to do with the Rajesh Khanna – Mumtaz – Meena Kumari starrer DUSHMUN, you can’t help but draw parallels with it, which, frankly, could be a coincidence as well. Yet, to be fair to Sarkar, he ventures in an unknown territory like a seasoned player.
BY BOLLYWOOD HUNGAMA.COMOn the flipside, the film has a major flaw and that dilutes the impact to an extent: Casting Neil Nitin Mukesh as a tapori. He just doesn’t look like one. Even if he tries very hard to get into the skin of the character, you just can’t connect with him since the suave and dashing demeanor makes him look like a Harvard returned, not More >
Why must I gush about Ranbir?-Deepika
0The Mediterranean tan sits pretty on Deepika Padukone who has just returned from Italy where she wrapped up Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull with Akshay Kumar. “I was in London, then Italy for the longest time, so I didn’t get to enjoy the success of my last film Love Aaj Kal,” says the pretty South Indian, her large brandy-coloured eyes dancing. She’s clear though that she now has to move on to her next two releases — Kartik Calling Kartik with Farhan Akhtar and Housefull, both of which will come in 2010. Deepika has also signed Pradeep Sarkar’s gritty thriller to be shot on the streets of Mumbai with Neil Nitin Mukesh. “Producer Aditya Chopra had promised me a film right after Bachna ae Haseeno,” she recalls. “I’m glad Adi remembered that.” For now, she too has made a promise to herself — she’s a girl in love but she will not gush about Ranbir Kapoor. On a recent television show when she was asked to analyse her superstar-boyfriend, Deepika was very pragmatic in her answers. “I know that I was expected to gush about Ranbir,” she smiles. “However, I believe that people who are closest to a person, must always give them a reality check. I’m aware that Ranbir is a superstar. But, I will always be rational when I speak More >
Sridevi and Boney to appear on 10 Ka Dum!
0Boney Kapoor and Sridevi
He romanced her in Chaand Kaa Tukdaa way back in 1994 and now, she’s his producer. Salman Khan and Sridevi have always shared a good rapport. So when Salman requested the reticent actress to make an appearance on his television show, 10 Ka Dum, she couldn’t refuse.
Insiders say that Sridevi and filmmaker husband Boney Kapoor spent close to five hours on the sets earlier this week and though portions of the show were meant to publicise their film Wanted – the emphasis was on the fantastic rapport between Salman and his former co-star.
Boney Kapoor, who is an ardent fan of Salman, said, “Sri has been asked to appear on Koffee with Karan, on Vir Sanghvi’s show and has also been invited by several other prominent talk show hosts. However, she politely refused the offers because she is shy. But when it came to appearing on Salman’s show, Sri didn’t have to be persuaded. Like me, she also shares a good rapport with Salman.”
Salman Khan
Apart from acting, Sridevi and Salman also share another common interest – painting.
In fact, some of Salman’s paintings are put up in Kapoor’s residence alongside paintings by Sridevi. When Salman got to know about her talent, he requested Boney to sneak in two of her paintings to the sets of the show. Much to Sridevi’s surprise, Salman also More >
