Raveena gets a taste of TV
0The actress was stuck on the set till 2 am and couldn’t be with hubby on her anniversary. Neha Maheshwri reports…
Neha Maheshwri (BOMBAY TIMES; March 17, 2011) Television is not easy given its erratic and taxing schedules. Bollywood celebrities who’ve worked in the tele industry acknowledge that it is much tougher. Many actors decline TV offers fearing the demanding schedule. But Raveena Tandon who is not new to TV got the taste of it’s unpleasant side of the medium recently while shooting for her show, Comedy Ka Maha Muqqabla. It was her anniversary and the actress wanted to wrap up the shoot on time so that she could head home to spend the rest of the special day with her hubby. But to her bad luck, the shoot continued beyond 2 am! Ravs, according to sources from the sets, was upset. Informs our source, “The actress was into tears at the delay as they’d promised that she’d be free to leave by 9 pm. But the shoot went on till the wee hours of morning.” However, a source close to the actress says, “She is a thorough professional. Why would she cry over not being able to spend her anniversary with her husband? She is very accomodating. In fact she even canceled her trip to Goa to celebrate her anniversary after the production house requested her to come for the shoot as the schedule was altered at the last moment. She was even asked to miss her friend’s wedding which was a few days before her anniversary but since she’d promised her friend More >

The selection of movies will certainly depend on how I have been choosing my movies so far which means the script and the character that I’m being approached to play will be the foremost focus for me but I will be less choosy for sure,” says the sassy star, who landed in Bollywood like a meteor with Ghajini but saw her second movie London Dreams tank at the box office.
Asin is also in for a big surprise bash in Mumbai on her birthday as her friends from US, UK and Australia have all landed up in the city to ring in her birthday. “It’s such a pleasant surprise. Jewellery and car fail to surprise Asin on her birthday
0By Joginder Tuteja, October 26, 2010 – 11:27 IST
Asin turns a year older today and she is in town to accumulate ton loads of birthday wishes and gifts coming her way. While a bunch of goodies are on her way, what she loves most is surprises that come from her near and dear ones. Why? Because while she is pretty much aware about the standard gifts that are reserved for her by her parents year after year, it is an element of surprise that she craves for most.
Says a close friend of Asin who has been helping her keep track of the celebrations planned for her on an hour by hour, “Asin turns into a teenager when it comes to her birthday celebrations. It’s the day when she really wants to be treated like a princess. Her parents know that and despite the fact that there are many admirers and social acquaintances out there, Asin wants to spend time mainly with her parents and close friends.”
No wonder, the doting parents know what she loves most – jewellery and cars.
Continues the friend, “Every year, Asin gets jewellery from her mother. On the other hand, her dad is fond of gifting her cars. Last year it was an Audi. This year too there is a special car already being pre-booked for it. To think of it, it is no more a surprise for Asin barring the fact that she doesn’t know the make of the car. However, this is what her parents think because she seems to have inkling about it.”
With not much surprise really spread out for Asin, the Ghajini girl is waiting More >
Abhishek, Imran, Ritesh’s voiceovers in Jhootha Hi Sahi
0Writer-director Abbas Tyrewala has roped in Imran Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Ritesh Deshmukh for voice cameos in his latest flick Jhoota Hi Sahi, which also stars his wife Pakhi Tyrewala as the female lead.
A source from the crew spills the beans and reveals the surprise which was meant to be kept under the wraps till the release of the film.
The source reveals, “The movie begins with three phone calls that the protagonist receives.
Initially, Abbas dubbed the scene with three voice-over artists but it didn’t have the impact that the beginning of a film should have.
Suddenly one day Abbas came up with the idea of asking his actor friends to do the voice cameos.”
When we contacted Abbas, he sounded a bit surprised but confirmed the story.
Munni Badnaam lifted from a Pak movie song
0India’s disco anthem is a straight lift from a little-known film from across the border
Vickey Lalwani, Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 09, 2010) Malaika in Munni… and (right) Lalit Pandit
While Munni sang and danced (and made disrepute sound desirable) it would be interesting to see how the producer and music director of Dabangg themselves deal with some ‘badnami’ now.
Dabangg’s original soundtrack may be flying off the shelves, as confirmed by leading music shops in the city, but here is a screechy footnote: the album’s chartbuster — Munni Badnaam Hui — is a straight lift from the soundtrack of a Pakistani film.
The movie is Mr Charlie and the song ‘Ladka badnaam hua haseena tere liye’ (CHECK SONG BELOW). The Pakistani song, which has been copied note for note by Lalit Pandit (of Jatin-Lalit fame) for Dabangg, was recorded back in 1993.
That year, to put things in perspective, two films of Salman’s released — Chandra Mukhi and Dil Tera Aashiq. Both bombed at the box office.
‘Ladka badnaam hua haseena tere liye’ was picturised on Pakistani stand-up comedian-actor-producer-director Umer Sharif.
The song’s lyrics are the only original element in its copy in Dabangg. When we contacted Sharif in Pakistan, he sounded both amused and angry. “Yeh chori nahin, seena zori hein,” he said, and added that he had heard about the plagiarisation a couple of days back. “I am more surprised than angry.

I’m a super boyfriend!-Ranbir Kapoor
0Actor Ranbir Kapoor dips into his own experiences to play love guru and offers tips on matters of the heart. Are you listening, boys?
Namrata Bhawnani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 26, 2010)
Ranbir is amused at the idea of playing love guru, as he feels he is yet to master the art of relationships. Over the years he has become aware of his flaws. But contrary to popular perception, he says, he’s very shy around women and needs a lot of encouragement to approach them.
He insists, “I need a sign, When I was in college, I liked a girl but didn’t have the courage to make the first move. I was low on confidence. So I got my best friend to call her and I would be on conference. This went on for two months!”
He talks about the secret of a good relationship and getting over heartbreak. Here are tips from the young Kapoor charmer:
Don’t have a checklist
She is a woman in your life, don’t treat her like a menu card. Sure enough, the young actor does not have a 10-point agenda when it comes to a date. He says, “I’m not desperate for a relationship. It will happen when you have a connection and if it grows organically. She just has to be a good person, positive and should respect our parents. But Indian women are like that — family oriented. I hope she has a career or something that belongs solely to her; I don’t expect her to live my life.” Respecting the partner’s individuality lays the foundation for a strong relationship.

Kareena to gift Swiss kiss to Kareena
0That’s Kareena’s 40th birthday gift for Saif tomorrow
Meena Iyer | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; August 15, 2010)
She had planned this as a surprise for her beau almost eight months ago. Saif Ali Khan turns 40 tomorrow, and Kareena Kapoor had decided to gift him a destination birthday. So she’s purchased first class tickets, booked a Swiss Chalet-type accommodation and has literally whisked him away from friends and family. For once Bebo isn’t too keen to talk about their private holiday. “It’s Saif’s 40th birthday… very special. And I wanted to give him a birthday to remember,” is all she said. They have just returned from London, where she was shooting for RA One and he was vacationing first with his children —Sarah and Ibrahim, and then with the Kapoors.
Both actors dashed into Mumbai for some individual promotional activities. And after a breathtaking 48-hour schedule, during which Kareena dubbed for two films, did interviews for We Are Family, released a book and shot for a reality show, they were back in the air.
Saif said, “Forty doesn’t feel any different. I’m looking forward to some exciting work. And I’m happy that my girlfriend is giving me this very special vacation.” As she put their passports into the outer pocket of her limited edition designer bag, Bebo added, “I’ve been asked whether I have bought him any other gifts this birthday. Honestly, I haven’t. The time I spend with him in Switzerland is my gift to him.”
Kajraare shifted ahead
0By Taran Adarsh, July 27, 2010 – 08:26 IST
KAJRAARE has been pushed ahead! Initially slated for release on 6th August, the film will now release on Eid, on 10th September. That’s the buzz in the industry. The postponement has come as a surprise, since the promotion of the film is in full gear.
Bhushan Kumar, the producer of KAJRAARE, sheds light on the issue, “Yes, we are not releasing the film on 6th August. In fact, we haven’t taken a call on the new date yet.” The buzz is that the film will now hit the screens on Eid. Will it withstand the tough competition posed by DABANGG and WE ARE FAMILY? “It’s uncertain at the moment. We will arrive at a decision [on the new date] within a week or so,” he states.
Why this sudden shift? “Our distributors are of the opinion that we shouldn’t release the film during the holy month of Ramzan. Also, since we are planning to have a really big release in Pakistan, releasing the film during Ramzan would’ve hampered the business prospects. In view of the fact, we decided to shift the film to a latter date,” the head honcho of T-Series reveals.
