Arjun Rampal turns peacemaker

The actor and his wife Mehr Jessia are trying to sort things out between friends Mozez Singh and Shah Rukh Khan who got into a scuffle recently

Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 7, 2011) Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jessia are in that uncomfortable place where two of their friends are fighting. It’s never easy to take sides. So they are doing what all good friends would do — try and patch them up. Shah Rukh Khan and producer Mozez Singh got into a scuffle at a recent party. A tabloid reported how Mozez kept making remarks all evening, and made guests at the party uncomfortable. But then he made the mistake of rubbing King Khan the wrong way. Shah Rukh, who was already in a bad mood, lost his temper when Mozez made a nasty comment, and grabbed him by the neck. Fisticuffs would’ve followed had friends not restrained Khan. Now the Rampals have taken it upon themselves to sort things out between their friends. Knowing how SRK has always detached himself off from all the people he has ever had problems with (Salman Khan tops the list and even Shirish Kunder), getting him to shake hands with Mozez is going to be difficult. Arjun and Mehr know this and thus they have got hold of Gauri Khan to be their key ally in this cause.

“Mozez is great friends with Arjun and Mehr and even Gauri Khan. It is through this connection that SRK too, became friends with Mozez. Together they are all desperately trying to get King Khan to forgive him. The More >

What stars fed Jitesh Pillaai

Jitesh Pillaai takes you into star kitchens and gives you a helping of filmy taste

Jitesh Pillaai (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 01, 2011)

I have been stuffed like a turkey at some star homes. And in some others I have waited for hours with just a glass of water for company.

But mostly, our stars have large hearts when it comes to food. Here’s a look at what’s on their menu on a good day. And why it so seems like them.

Kareena Kapoor

Size zero and foodie, Kareena Kapoor is a paradox. She must have been Chinese in her last birth. That’s how much she loves the cuisine.

From the early days at the now defunct Holiday Inn’s Sampan to Lands End’s Golden Dragon, catching up over the most heavenly stuffed wonton, noodles and Shanghai chicken.

In between her pet had turned PETA - she had become shakhahaari. But whenever you plan to meet Bebo, the first thing she asks is “What should I order to eat?” She is a true lover of the good life and good food.

Recently, I gorged on the fish curry at her place. It was too good to be true. We’ve shared too many heartbreaks and happy foodie moments together. Swimming in the masala and enjoying it.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan can stuff you till you burst. She’s fed me amazing homemade chicken.

In the past, her mum Vrinda, on whose list of favourite words, ‘journalist’ does not appear, always ensured I ate well.

Everything, from paneer to exotic chocolates. I have never left their home hungry. Ash personally sees to More >

RA.One’s audio mission

Obsessed with the project, Shah Rukh Khan has decided to give multiplexes a complete makeover re-equipping the sound and projection facilities

Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 04, 2011)

If we were to say Shah Rukh Khan is leaving no stone unturned for his brainchild RA.One, it would still be a major understatement.

His over-the-top efforts began with aggressive measures to promote the film by capitalising on the cricket frenzy during the world cup and now the IPL (Mumbai Mirror, March 23).

Exhausting all efforts to perfect the content and promotions, Khan has decided to control the way audiences watch the film, by modernising, re-equipping and replacing the sound and projection facilities in multiplexes across the country.

Reportedly, Khan, accompanied by a technical team, will head to Los Angeles, in June, to tweak RA.One with all the special sound effects, never used in any other Indian film.

For audiences to truly experience and appreciate these effects, the actor has decided to upgrade the sound systems in multiplexes. Resul Pookutty, a member of the technical team on this mission, explained, “You see, RA.One is not just a movie experience.

It will be the first Indian film to hover somewhere between being a game and a movie. It requires a very unconventional sound and visual quality for which we’re installing the required equipment.”

SRK shoots music video for Always Kabhi Kabhi

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, May 3, 2011 – 12:08 IST

There is no denying that Shah Rukh Khan is among the busiest actors around, what with his film commitments, his IPL commitments and numerous other endorsement related work. Even as he is neck deep busy travelling with his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Shah Rukh managed to squeeze out time to shoot a music video for his home production Always Kabhi Kabhi directed by Roshan Abbas.

Always Kabhi Kabhi, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, stars relatively new faces such as Zoa Morani, Giselli Monteiro, Satyajit Dubey and Ali Fazal. To see that the film gets its due share of eyeballs, the makers decided to shoot a special music video featuring SRK along with the cast of the film. The song called ‘Antenna‘ features in the climax and is set against the backdrop of a jail set with some rebellious lyrics describing how parents’ frequency many-a-times doesn’t match with that of their children.

Famous choreographer duo Bosco-Caesar choreographed the song and King Khan air-dashed from Kolkata straight to the sets, quickly practised his steps and was ready for the shoot. Post the shoot, SRK once again had to return to be with his KKR team for their next match. Surely here is one actor who is always high on energy!

Shah Rukh Khan comes back to where he started from, a primetime TV series

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 03, 2011)

Shah Rukh Khan kicked off his career with television serials like Fauji and Circus two decades ago. But he aimed to reach higher-Bollywood.

Not only did he reach the silver screen, but struck gold there. Yet, the actor bowed down in respect for the television industry, which gave him his first opportunity.

He returned to TV with reality shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? and Zor Ka Jhatka, leaving behind fans asking for more. Ever since, TV has become a second home for the actor.

With his on and off relationship with TV, we hear SRK is returning once again, this time in a primetime soap titled Sasural Simar Ka.

The actor who has always valued his early struggling days on TV will make a come back through a cameo appearance on the show.

The show also marks the return of India’s beloved child bride, Avika Gor aka Anandi of Balika Vadhu.

It wasn’t a cake walk for the producers of the show to get King Khan to do the cameo. Says a source, “The serial is a highly anticipated fiction show, especially because it marks the return of Avika Gor.

It was not easy to convince SRK considering his packed schedule. He heard the entire track of the show and the story appealed to him because the story of the protagonist resembles the actor’s own life. Thus, he agreed and even started shooting for the show last night.”

By Satish Sundaresan, April 27, 2011 – 11:14 IST

Nikhil Dwivedi is someone who does not fall in to the typical synonym of the typical tall, dark, handsome Bollywood hero. He is someone who can rightly be called as the ‘Thinking Man’s Actor’, for he is not just artistically oriented but academically as well… as he holds a dual MBA degree, wherein, one MBA stands for ‘Masters in Business Administration’ while the second stands for ‘Masters in Bollywood Acting’.

Armed with films like My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves and others, Nikhil is someone who is surely a name to watch out for in the days to come, for his stellar and much-talked about performance in the flick Shor In the City. Satish Sundaresan of Bollywood Hungama caught up with this actor wherein he talks all about his dream role, his favourite movies and his take on Mumbai. Over to you, Nikhil!

KJo approaches Salman for his next?

The filmmaker has approached Salman for the next Dharma venture despite his friend Shah Rukh’s equation with the actor

Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 27, 2011)

The last time Salman Khan worked on a Dharma Productions’ film was in the college love saga Kuch Kuch Hota Hai way back in 1998.

After thirteen years, a bad fight with Dharma loyalist Shah Rukh and a couple of comeback hits Wanted and Dabangg, the original bad boy of Bollywood seems to have got a second chance with Karan Johar’s production house.

The ice probably broke when KJo asked Salman to be a part of his talk show. The actor agreed to do so for a price, they had to make a donation to his foundation. Though the filmmaker denied paying up for a celebrity on his show back then, he approached the Khan for the next Dharma venture to be directed by Rensil D’Silva.

Considering KJo’s association with his favourite Shah Rukh and Salman’s disassociation with the King Khan, this piece of news should have been surprising. However, with the filmmaker stretching his professional interests beyond his favourite Khan with Varun Dhawan starring in his next directorial venture Student Of The Year, the filmmaker approaching the other Khan becomes understandable.

According to a source, “After Kurbaan, Rensil is directing a fantasy-action caper on the lines of Ocean’s Eleven. When Karan Johar heard the script, he absolutely fell in love with it. Both Karan and Rensil felt Salman was perfect for the main More >

Sanjay Leela Bhansali unplugged

The filmmaker, in a hard-hitting interview, takes on everyone — from Sonam Kapoor to Ajay Devgn

Sarita Tanwar (BOMBAY TIMES; April 25, 2011)

Sanjay Leela Bhansali vanished after Guzaarish. The director will soon be on your TV screens as a judge on a reality dance show. Now that he has emerged from hiding, he is open to being grilled. He promised to be honest, and true to his word, he did not mince words. He cleared the air on friends, foes and his films (last and forthcoming). Read on for excerpts…

Are you going to be a mean judge on tv? No. I don’t believe in running down people. I will say what I have to, without destroying the dancers. The range is from 16 to 60. It’s pure joy to see some people who’ve never had the chance to live their dream, come on stage and let loose.

Do you watch Koffee With Karan? No.

In one episode Karan asked Sonam what she would do if she woke up one morning and realised she’d become you. She said, “Get colour in my life — apart from Blue and Black.” Any comment? I don’t think any filmmaker in India would even think of using the colours I do. Saawariya is a work of art and if Karan can’t understand that then that is his problem. It’s something I cannot worry about. If he is going to reduce Saawariya to just a blue film then it’s just childish. I don’t know why he asks people about me. Whenever he meets me, he is very kind, cordial and respectful about my work. I don’t know why Sonam answered the More >

SRK’s singer croons for Salman’s buddy!

SRK apparently missed out on hosting Akon’s show over sponsorship issues, the singer is now being hosted by Salman Khan’s close friend Avinash Gowariker

Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; April 14, 2011) International singer Akon and Shah Rukh Khan have become friends in the last year, following him recording a track for the actor’s film Ra.One. Last year, the actor hosted a bash for the singer. Akon’s birthday is around the corner (April 16) and King Khan was planning to have him perform in the city for the same. But due to sponsorship issues as well as time constraints due to the on-going IPL season, he couldn’t lock the deal in time.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan wanted to host the event but was advised against it, given his history with SRK. Now, Akon has been scooped out of SRK’s camp and the venue for the act has shifted to Pune, and Salman’s close friend, Bala is at the helm of things.

An insider spills the beans, “Akon, apparently, gave SRK a discounted rate for the Mumbai performance, given their longstanding association. The amount was about 50 lakhs for a twohour performance but sponsors didn’t come on board quick enough and SRK opted to let go of the offer.”

The source adds, “Salman suddenly came into the picture and we were informed that he wanted to be involved with the show. But he was advised against it because Akon and SRK have the Ra.One connect. He was told that he could host Akon post SRK’s film release not before that. More >
