Is Sonakshi Sinha Akshay Kumar’s most preferred heroine?

1

BOMBAY TIMES (May 19, 2013)

Akshay Kumar has a way of patronising his heroines by giving them multiple projects. If you check his past and present screen records, you’ll notice that the actor has a tendency to repeat his heroines till they get married or move on. Raveena Tandon, Shilpa Shetty, Twinkle Khanna, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif have done multiple films with him. But his current favourite is Sonakshi Sinha. Sona, unlike the other girls whose career graphs Akshay has rewritten to a large extent, was already a blockbuster heroine because of her debut with Bollywood’s superhero Salman Khan in Dabangg (2010). Yet, it is Akki who is responsible for giving her some amazing breaks. He signed her for Rowdy Rathore and Joker almost simultaneously, gave her a song in his home-production OMG Oh My God and was also happy to have her included as the heroine in two of his hottest projects — Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again and the Thuppaki remake. From the looks of it, the Akshay-Sona jodi may outlive his hit pairing with Katrina too.

Sonakshi Sinha-Yaami Gautam in Ajay Devgn-Prabhu Dheva flick?

Meena Iyer and Renuka Vyavahare (BOMBAY TIMES; May 18, 2013)

Their Son Of Sardaar last Diwali scorched screens. So when Ajay Devgn had to choose a leading lady to play his love interest in Prabhu Dheva’s next starting July, he pointed his finger in Sonakshi Sinha’s direction. The curly-haired South Indian director has already worked with Sona on Rowdy Rathore, Rambo Rajkumar and the Go, Govinda song in OMG Om My God. Naturally, he is happy to continue the association.

Meanwhile, Yaami Gautam, of Vicky Donor fame, will also be part of the same project. According to sources, this pretty model-turned-actor has a very interesting role. And wait there’s more. One hears that there will be yet another glamorous girl. Talks are on with a couple of sex kittens with never ending legs and ample cleavage.

Sonakshi reaches event; but doesn’t come out of van due to Kangna?

Kunal M Shah (MID-DAY; May 16, 2013)

Who needs a reason to celebrate Mother’s Day? While several members of tinsel town were present along with their moms at an event to mark the day at Bandra fort, strangely Sonakshi Sinha gave it a miss.

Though the invite for the day distinctly mentioned Sona’s name among the celebrities gracing the occasion, the actress apparently refused to come out of her vanity van parked at the venue and left without meeting anyone.

And apparently it had something to do with the presence of another B-Town actress at the same party.

Our source says, “Sonakshi was not informed by the organisers that Kangna Ranaut would also be a part of the event. While she reached the venue on time with her mother Poonam, one of her staff members informed her that Kangna was also present at the event.”

Change of heart

Sona apparently was already looking irritated when she came in and lost her cool, even refusing to step out of the van in spite of the organisers pleading to her. She didn’t exit the van until the event was over.

Surprising, since Sonakshi is known to be extremely professional and people who have worked with her consider her as completely tantrum- free.” Industry insiders say that Sona’s no-show could have been because of the two actress’ close connections with Salman Khan.

Turf war

The source explains, “While Sona and Kangs actually do not have any history, the bone of contention is Salman. While the actor gave Sonakshi her first Bollywood break, More >

Sonakshi Sinha pays surprise visit on the sets of Besharam

DNA (May 13, 2013)

Guess whom we spotted on the sets of Besharam? Sonakshi Sinha. The actress dropped in to meet her brother Kush who is assisting Abhinav Kashyap. The actress, after winding up the shoot of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again last week is enjoying some free time and decided to land up on the sets of her brother’s film. She also met the lead actor of the film – Ranbir Kapoor – and chatted with him for an hour. They must have a lot to talk about… but we are guessing that Katrina Kaif wasn’t part of the conversation.

Ekta Kapoor unhappy with OUATIM 2 climax; orders for a re-shoot?

Jigar Shah (MID-DAY; April 27, 2013)

Ekta Kapoor is known to be a hard taskmaster.

And now there is one more instance. The producer has ordered a reshoot of several portions of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again, directed by Milan Luthria. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha.

A crew member informs, “After seeing the rushes, Ekta sent a message to Milan that several portions of the film, especially the climax, needed to be reworked. The director argued that it did not gel with his vision.” The source adds, “Akshay too feels a reshoot is necessary. This has further strengthened Ekta’s cause to call the shots and ensure that Milan does a reshoot.” Incidentally, her last production Ek Thi Daayan was also reshot. Ekta had severe creative differences with co-producer Vishal Bharadwaj over the issue.

Sonakshi Sinha does a vanishing act

Mehul S Thakkar (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 26, 2013)

Sonakshi Sinha has been missing in action. Not just the recent Sahara party where her mum stepped in for her, she has not been spotted at any red carpet event or made any other special appearances either. And if sources are to be believed, it is part design and part by default.

To begin with, the decision to stay away from the public glare was taken by her well-wishers. Keeping in mind that she has a slew of films coming up, it was decided that she should plan her public appearances judiciously. In fact, Sonakshi’s itinerary this year includes two films releasing in a span of 35 days – Lootera in July and Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai Again in August. Hence the caution.

But there is more. A friend of the actress told Mumbai Mirror: “Sona is shooting four films back to back – Thupakki, Once Upon A Time…, Rambo Rajkumar and Bullet Raja. This has had her shuttling from one set and city to another, leaving her with no time to spend with her family either.” In fact, vouching for her busy schedule, a co-actor pointed out, “Last week, Sona shot for 22 hours at a stretch for two films.” A reason why, when she got homesick on the sets of Bullet Raja, her father went to Lucknow to be with her for a day. Said the friend: “It is unlikely that you’ll get to see Sonakshi till Lootera releases.” Now that’s some lesson in image management.

I have to be a little less self-obsessed and more vain-Ranveer Singh

Upala KBR (DNA; April 22, 2013)

Ranveer Singh is chilling at his home in Bandra. He greets me warmly — almost like a long-lost friend, even though this is our second meeting. An array of sweets are placed before me (he keeps nibbling on them, though he’s supposed to be on a strict diet). During the course of our conversation I notice that he has a certain emotional intensity about him that was missing earlier. Also, he is more guarded now… the devil-may-care attitude is reigned in. He has dialled down the madness (he has been called a monkey on steroids), but the quicksilver charm is on full power, and what hasn’t changed is how the words pour out of him in a passionate stream almost running into each other. Here he talks about growing up, not being a brat and his sex-appeal. Read on….

You are doing the modern interpretation of Romeo and Juliet (Ram Leela). Do you believe in that kind of do-or-die love? I am an extremely passionate, do-or-die kind of a person. I am over-emotional, over-impulsive, very reckless and careless when it comes to love. I can’t plan or calculate in romance.

What is the most impulsive thing that you have ever done in love? I get so infused with passion sometimes that I find myself doing crazy stuff. When I was younger, I was in a very passionate, volatile, tempestuous relationship. Some fights have been very bad, I have even broken things. One time I had injured my leg and was walking around with a walking stick. I heard something and got so angry More >

I just feel like getting married and having kids-Ranveer Singh

Priya Gupta (BOMBAY TIMES; April 20, 2013)

Ranveer Singh, 27, is a complete softy and a mama’s boy, whose mother is the centre of his universe. He is extremely bright and secure about his manhood and is simple and emotional. He admits that while he had no control of what he would say when he started off, he has learnt not to be 100% open and honest. Over an hour-long conversation with Bombay Times while shooting for Ram Leela, he talks about his badmaashis in school, the romantic Aditya Chopra and why he finds Deepika Padukone the most desirable co-star. Excerpts:

Let’s talk about your childhood? I am born and brought up in Bandra and went to a small school called Learners Academy in the foothills of Pali Hill till class X. My family is originally from Karachi and while my dad is a cut surd, my mom is a Sindhi. My dad is an auto retailer. I was the most obese kid in my class till class three and was called ‘motte’. I was under-confident and no one would take me in their team to play as I was a slow runner. But then, I realised I was stronger than these guys and became the dada in school. I wrote my first love letter on a chit in class one. It read, ‘I love you. You love me.’ My principal complained to my parents. In class VI, I used to teach all the boys about porn and sex. I was 12 when I kissed. The girl was from another school and was older to me. I used to meet her in Otters Club and played table tennis with her. I must have been 13 when I did it fully first. Sonakshi Sinha replaces Malaika Arora Khan as face of hair colour brand?

0

Shaheen Parkar (MID-DAY; April 20, 2013)

Rajjo has stepped into Munni’s shoes! Sonakshi Sinha recently bagged a new endorsement deal for a hair colour. For the past several years, the brand’s face was Malaika Arora Khan. Considering the rapport that Sona has with the Khan-daan, it has come as a surprise to see her stepping into Malaika’s turf.

Says a source, “Malaika had been the face of the product for an extremely long time. But it seems the makers were keen on a new face. Their decision to rope in Sonakshi instead came as a surprise as she has not exactly made a big mark in the ad world, rumoured to be due to her size issues.”

Adds the source, “The makers felt Sonakshi represented the contemporary Indian woman more, as a result they did not renew the contract with Malaika. Given Sona’s equation with both Salman who launched her in B-Town as well as Malaika’s hubby Arbaaz who directed her in Dabangg 2, people are wondering how she agreed to be a replacement for Malaika.”

Sona recently even put up her snapshot on her micro-blogging site sporting a new hair colour to announce to her fans about her deal. The actress however always maintains that she does not consider it as a replacement but just filling in the empty space.

SRK-Sonakshi all set to clash a second time?

0

BOMBAY TIMES (April 12, 2013)

Sonakshi Sinha has one Khan — Salman (Dabangg) Khan — on her side most often. But Salman’s bête noire Shah Rukh Khan and she are star-crossed. A trade source made an interesting observation on how SRK and Sona are getting ready for their second face-off at the box office.

Last Diwali, Sonakshi was the leading lady of Son Of Sardaar that clashed with Shah Rukh’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan. As if that wasn’t enough, this Ramzan Eid, Sona’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again is all set to clash with SRK’s Chennai Express.

One hears the actress is perturbed about the fact that she’s in the eye of the storm — obviously, by default. Like other girls in B-Town, she too wants to do a movie with SRK and not be clashing with him.
