Signing my first film changed my life-Ajay Devgn
0When Ajay Devgn zoomed into Bollywood, standing tall on two bikes in Phool aur Kaante, little did he know that he was here to stay for good.
Says Ajay, “When I was offered the film, I didn’t take it seriously. I was studying in Mithibai College and didn’t care much for films then.” But director Kuku Kohli wasn’t ready to give up and pursued Ajay, who finally gave in.
Within 20 days, Ajay was in the studio, without taking any acting course or training. “I had decided that if this film doesn’t work, I am not going to take my portfolio to directors, looking for a role.
But I must say that I have been very lucky as an actor, in the sense that I have always landed the right film with the right director or else life would have been very boring,” he says.
Life took a good turn for Ajay as Phool aur Kaante was a blockbuster and he became a star. But according to Ajay, no one film can be called the turning point in his career. “Everything happens in its own good time,” he says. “It wouldn’t be right to say that I knew how my career would turn out when I did my first film. I’ve grown and matured as an actor. I am grateful that the public accepted me.”
From the gawky college student in his first film, Ajay has come a long way over the last two decades, doing a variety of roles. “I don’t know what I would’ve become if not an actor. I would have done something in the film industry definitely,” says More >
Katz having second thoughts about The Italian Job remake?
0There are rumours that Katrina Kaif is having second thoughts about starring in Abbas Mustan’s remake of the 2003 Hollywood film, The Italian Job as her role is quite insignificant.
A source says, “Initially, Katrina had agreed to do the film. However, after going through the script, Katrina realised that she does not like her role.”
Katrina KaifA spate of hits seems to have changed Katrina’s attitude towards the film. “Gone are the days when she signed films opposite big heroes without bothering about her role. Today, Katrina is very particular about her roles too,” adds the source.
As things stand today, she is dilly-dallying to sign on the dotted line unless her role in the film is substantial enough.
Another reason why Katrina is unlikely to do this film is because one of the male lead actors was changed. “Earlier she was very kicked about the film because Saif was part of it. However, after Saif opted out of the project, her interest soon diminished,” says the source.
Incidentally, this is the third film in the last three months that Katrina has had second thoughts about. It may be recalled that she had earlier opted out of Sanjay Gadhvi’s 7 Days In Paris. Just a few days ago, she had also refused to star in More >
“Welcome to the shoot of your biggest hit” – Sajid Khan to House Full cast
0By Joginder Tuteja, February 1, 2010 – 11:34 IST
Remember the last scene of 3 Idiots? The one where Chatur extends a piece of paper to an unsuspecting Rancho and asks him to sign a ‘Declaration of Defeat’? As baffled and amused that he could possibly be in that particular situation, Rancho didn’t have a moment of hesitation in doing so because in his heart he truly believed that ‘aal was well’.
Now that was in reel life. Let’s rewind a bit now and go back to the summer of 2009. This is when a similar drama, though of a completely opposite kind, took place in real life on the first day of the shooting of Sajid Khan directed House Full. Confident about the journey that he was about to embark on and positive about its final outcome, Sajid wrote a personalised letter to each and every actor. What it stated was something plain and simple but carried its weight in gold. It said – ‘Welcome to the first day’s shoot of your career’s biggest hit’!
Now that’s quite a statement given the fact that the film boasts of a superstar like Akshay Kumar who has some of the most massive blockbusters behind him. Deepika Padukone began with none less than Om Shanti Om while others like Riteish Deshmukh, Arjun Rampal and Lara Dutta do boast of some good money spinners behind them. Moreover, producer Sajid Nadiadwala too has been around for more than 25 years and over this long period of time has accumulated several successful films in his kitty. And let’s not forget that a major part of this team More >

// // // The mystery behind Bappi Lahiri’s love for wearing ornaments will finally be revealed in a film titled Bappida Tusi Great Ho. The film, produced by Vilas Rao Taide and directed by debutant Sidharth Suryavanshi, will have Bappida playing the lead role.
Bappi Lahiri confirmed the news and said, “After Dard-E-Disco, I have signed this film and it is amazing. The mystery behind my love for wearing ornaments will create history. This is completely different from the other film that I am doing. I am also the music director for Bappida Tusi… As of now, we are looking for a leading lady who will be an established star. Raju Kariya, scriptwriter of the film, is an old associate and he knows me really well. It was he who came up with this idea. We will start shooting for the film in a couple of months.”
Bappida is also busy with other projects. “Right now I am in Kolkata where I am featuring in a couple of songs in a Bengali film, Hangover which stars Prasonjeet, Koel Malik and Rituparna Sengupta. My son Bappa has composed the songs. It is fun being in front of the camera now,” he added.
Katrina adopts Catreena
0// // //
On January 22, a 15-day leopard cub was spotted in Devankhedi village near Bhopal and rescued by a team from the national park Van Vihar. Apparently, the villagers named the cub Katrina because they felt that she was “beautiful and silky like Katrina Kaif.”
On Thursday, Katrina learnt about this and she made enquiries with Van Vihar, saying that she wanted to adopt the leopard. When contacted, Van Vihar’s assistant director AK Khare said Katrina Kaif had indeed expressed a desire to adopt the rescued animal.
“On Friday afternoon, Katrina’s assistant called me saying that she was willing to adopt that leopard. It would be great if she does. However, let me clarify that the leopard cub, which Katrina Kaif is ready to adopt, is spelt as Catreena, not Katrina. At this point of time, the animal is housed in our zoo.”
Explaining what Katrina Kaif would require to do for the process of adoption, Khare said, “We have different rates for different animals. Katrina will have to pay Rs 50,000 annually. I have yet to hear from them, but I have informed them of the entire procedure. Besides paying Rs 50,000 per year for the leopard, Katrina will also have to fill up a form and duly sign it.”

0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, January 23, 2010 – 12:49 IST
Till yesterday, she was the queen bee of the Box-Office. A few unfortunate Fridays and she was almost out of the rat race. Not just that, she also got slotted as an ‘exclusive’ YRF heroine. No prizes for guessing that we are referring to the one and original Rani Mukherjee, who now seems all set to be back with a bang.
Even though her last few of releases didn’t quite work at the BO, Rani seems ready for a comeback and has signed up for an important role in UTV Spotboy’s No One Killed Jessica, which also stars Vidya Balan, and is directed by Rajkumar ‘Aamir‘ Gupta. The film, which has its music composed by the Amit Trivedi, is expected to go on the floors in February. Talking about the film, Vikas Bahl, Chief Creative Officer, UTV Motion Pictures said, “It’s our pleasure to announce that Rani along with Vidya has also agreed to be a part of a story we really want to tell. When you have actors like Rani and Vidya by your side, the joy of creating characters that can shake the audience and leave an impact for time to come is immense. No One killed Jessica is one of our very cherished projects and it has scaled up to the level it deserved to, thanks to Rani and Vidya becoming a part of it.”
For starters, No One Killed Jessica is a fast paced thriller set in the hub of political power, New Delhi. It is the story of two women and their relentless pursuit of justice that mobilizes an entire nation to prove that in More >
Child artist forced to work for 22 hours non-stop
0For someone who has written two of Madhur Bhandarkar’s critically acclaimed films (Corporate and Fashion), Ajay Monga definitely had set his sights high for his directorial debut Padduram.
The film required a child actor but Monga, who wanted Darsheel Safary to play the lead, quickly changed his mind after the Taare Zameen Par star demanded an astronomical fee – over Rs 1 crore. He finally settled for 11-year-old Shubham Kataria, signing him for a paltry Rs 1 lakh.
// // // But while Monga made a substantial saving, it was the beginning of a traumatic experience for the little boy. Shubham was made to shoot for 22 hours hours at a stretch, from 6 am to 4 am the next day. His mother, Dimple Kataria, who accompanied him for the shoot in Indore, was shocked at the way he was being pushed but took it in her stride the first time. But the very next day, Monga again didn’t pack-up on time.
Unable to bear the way her son was being treated, Dimple had a massive showdown with Monga and even asked him point blank whether he would’ve dared to treat Darsheel so shabbily. In a fit of rage she stormed off the sets, taking Shubham with her to the hotel. Recounts the anguished mother, “The worst part was that every time I told Monga to pack-up, he would say ‘Bas, 15 minutes aur’. My son More >
Farah now signs Salman
0After signing Akshay, Farah-Shirish to team up with Salman. Will SRK ever forgive Farah for courting his arch nemesis?
By Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 31, 2009)The breach with Shah Rukh Khan seems complete. Shirish Kunder is working on a script for Salman Khan, which he intends to direct immediately after he finishes with his John Abraham starrer, Alien Sahib.
As it is, Akshay Kumar is playing the lead in Farah’s next directorial venture Tees Maar Khan instead of Shah Rukh.
Farah Khan and Shirish KunderBoth Farah and Shrish confirm their association with Salman. When asked if Shirish is working on a project with Salman, Farah cryptically says, “Not yet,” while Shirish says a categorical, “Yes.” The deal was sealed at Salman Khan’s birthday bash at Panvel on December 27 where Farah and her husband were special guests.
So where does this new development leave Farah’s seemingly everlasting friendship with her mentor Shah Rukh Khan?
Shah Rukh, it is well-known is at loggerheads with Salman. Friends of one superstar cannot hope to be seen at parties hosted by the other superstar, not after the two Khans fell out at Katrina Kaif’s birthday bash last year.
Both Shah Rukh and Salman have made it clear that the two can never ever be friends.
With Farah signing Akshay Kumar instead of SRK for her third directorial venture and Shirish Kunder set to work with SRK’s arch-enemy, the curtain has truly and finally come down on one of filmdom’s most gehri More >
Kareena paid 7 crs for Golmaal 3?
0Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra may be ruling Bollywood today, but it is Kareena who has toppled the other two by being the highest paid actress. She has been signed for a whopping Rs 7 crore by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd for their next, Golmaal 3, directed by Rohit Shetty.
A source says, “Kareena hasn’t given any hit last year except 3 Idiots and has raised many eyebrows for being signed for the exorbitant amount. While Bollywood actors are slashing their prices to cope with the recession, it is surprising how much the industry is paying the actresses. Even A-list actors are not being offered such a huge amount.”
It is learnt that Kareena will be the only heroine in the film as she has made it very clear that she does not want to work in multi-heroine projects.
Kareena KapoorAnd why not? After the success of Jab We Met and the critical acclaim she received, Kareena’s career graph rose. Reportedly she was paid Rs 2.5 crore for Kambakkht Ishq and little more for Golmaal 2. The source continues, “After Golmaal 2 proved to be a hit, director Rohit Shetty only wanted Kareena in the film and convinced the producers to sign her. Moreover, the Kapoor lass has never been a part of sequels, so to make her sign this film, she was offered and signed for a huge More >
