Shenaz Treasuryvala rejects duplicate; does her own stunt

It is common for a stunt double to have similar height and built for the star he/she is doing the action scene for. However, Shenaz Treasuryvala, whose character for a new film (Main Aur Mr Riight) was required to climb a building using the pipe, was in for a shock. When she asked who her body double was, a skinny lad with hairy legs was pointed out to her. Bechari’s jaw hit the floor. Before she could utter another word, the assistant directors told her “not to worry” and whipped out a wig and placed it on the guy’s head. Next, they asked him to wear clothes and high heels just like the actress. Needless to say, Shenaz shuddered at the idea of a guy doubling up for her and offered to do the stunt herself. Fortunately for her, she managed the scene without any trouble, which gave her quite a high, literally.

VJs make excellent actors-Shenaz Treasuryvala

IANS (MID-DAY; July 30, 2012)

She was one of the earliest among the popular Video Jockeys (VJ) to make a shift to Bollywood. Now as names like Ayushmann Khurrana and Rannvijay are taking the trend forward, Shenaz Treasuryvala says VJs make excellent actors, given their confidence to face the camera.

“I think VJs make excellent actors as we are not camera-shy and already have confidence. It’s all under the blanket of being an on-screen personality,” Shenaz told IANS in an email interview.

Shenaz used to anchor music show “MTV’S Most Wanted” for many years, before she made a move to Bollywood with Ken Ghosh’s 2003 movie “Ishq Vishk”. After that she featured in films like “Radio” and “Delhi Belly”.

The 31-year-old will now be seen in romantic comedy “Main Aurr Mr. Right”, in which she plays the role of a perfectionist looking for her ‘Mr. Right’.

Shenaz feels every girl will be able to relate to the story.

“Most girls, no matter how practical, independent, mature or modern they claim to be, cannot let go of the teenage girl inside them… the girl who’s grown up on Shah Rukh Khan or Tom Hanks’s films. Somewhere inside us, we are all dreaming of a man to sweep us off our feet and ride us away into the sunset on a big black horse. So I think women of all ages can relate to the movies,” she added.

Asked if she is equally choosy in her real life as well, she said: “Not as much as my character. She takes picky to another level. I feel that no man is going to be perfect and check More >

‘Delhi Belly’ actress talks about why co-star and telly actor Barun Sobti’s female fans hate her

Sonali Joshi Pitale (MID-DAY; July 23, 2012)

While in the daytime Shenaz Treasuryvala is working hard on the sets of her new film Main Aur Mr Riight, helmed by Adeeb Rais, she spends her free time keeping a constant watch behind her back. Reason being that the VJ-turned-actress feels her life is in danger, thanks to her co-star Barun Sobti’s female fans.

Before Barun signed the film, there was strong buzz that he might leave his TV show to be free for the Bollywood project. The actor allegedly has a very big fan following and as a result his fans targeted Shenaz for venting their ire.

Shenaz says, “I have received hate mails from his crazy fans accusing me of taking Barun away from them! They are upset about him leaving his TV show ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Main Kya Naam Doon?’. But in fact, he has not exited the show.”

The actress is now scared about her well being. She says, “These girls are mad. They can go to any extend for Barun. They are madly in love with him and they hate me.”

While stating that Barun is a happily married man, she adds, “He is so sweet. In fact, I too want a guy for myself who will take care of me just like Barun does for his wife.”

BOMBAY TIMES (June 29, 2012)

He has always believed in walking the road less travelled. For someone who began his career as an assistant director at 16, it took Adeeb Rais five years to get a break as an independent director.

By choosing to release his debut venture, Kuch Spice To Make It Meetha on the internet, the budding filmmaker set a trend in the world of films and internet.

What’s more, Rais latest music video featuring television sensation Karan Tacker for music band Chalang that has been uploaded on the net, is creating sensation too.

When asked what makes his content work well online, Rais says, “Good content always sells. Be it in the case of movies, television or even the internet. People click that ‘share’ button only if they genuinely enjoy watching it. So it all boils down to the quality of the content and how much it entertains the veiwer.”

He adds, “I love the internet and it’s the future. In fact, I’m working on a very interesting viral marketing project called Beyond Hatke that goes live end of this year. Besides, I’m also busy shooting my first feature film Main Aur Mr Riight, with Shenaz Treasurywala and Barun Sobti.”

Adeeb describes his film as a young romcom that the audience will thoroughly enjoy. “Very much in my space,” he smiles. Further, he enthuses that the secret behind coping with responsibilities at such a young age is his passion and love for work.

I play a sexy man-eating girl in One Life To Live-Shenaz Treasuryvala

By Nikhil Ramsubramaniam, February 16, 2011 – 15:16 IST

A few weeks ago we had informed you about Shenaz Treasuryvala featuring in the popular American soap opera ‘One Life To Live’. We caught up with the chirpy actress who is busy shooting for the show in New York for a quick tête-à-tête. Read on…

First things first Shenaz, how did you bag this TV show One Life To Live? A few months ago, I came to the States for a wedding in San Diego, after which I flew to New York to visit friends. My co-star in Delhi Belly, Poorna (my darling super-talented, best friend and angel) introduced me to her agent who sent me to an audition for ‘One Life To Live’. It was my first audition in the U.S. and I went in for fun, not expecting anything, which is probably the best attitude to have. As luck would have it, I got shortlisted and called back the next day and then got called back the next week again to meet producers, after which I had to do another screen test. The audition process itself took a couple of months, so I extended my trip and subleased an apartment here. By this time, I really wanted to get this. I went through many rounds and out of 1000 odd girls in LA and NY, they chose 15 and then 9 and then finally 2. I was one of the two. I waited a few weeks with bated breath.

Parsi, Irani celebs celebrate Navroze

FESTIVE SPIRIT: Shenaz Treasuryvala, Boman Irani, Nauheed Cyrusi, Perizaad Zorabian Irani and Shiamak Davar get together for Navroze BT got the Parsis and Iranis of Bollywood for a dramatic photo-shoot on the auspicious occasion of the Irani New Year

MARK MANUEL Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; March 21, 2010)

Good morning, Mumbai — and Navroze Mubarak! The Irani New Year and first day of spring began at 11.02 and 13 seconds last night. But BT invited the ‘Bawajis of Bollywood’ (actually, two Parsis, two Iranis and one half-breed) for a pow-wow on Saturday morning itself to the Rustam Faramna Agiary standing serenely in dappled sunlight at the Khareghat crossroads of Dadar Parsi Colony (DPC).

At 9 am sharp, Shenaz Treasuryvala arrived in a strappy floral summer dress, like a fresh gust of perfumed air rustling the dead leaves on the road, eager to do her bit and then catch a flight to Goa. “I started the year stressfully, I need a break — I’m an escapist, but I may come back on Navroze to have dinner with my family,” she said, the pout in place. Perizaad Zorabian Irani followed, the classic Yummy Mummy in a backless halter-neck lime green dress and golden stilettoes, showing pictures on her cell of daughter Zaha who is 2.4 years and son Zayaan who is four months only. “Life is insane, so much nonsense is happening,” she grumbled.
