Tisca Chopra says she’s loving the accolades she’s getting for her new sexy avatar in her latest release

She etched a place for herself in the minds of the audiences beautifully, playing a dedicated homemaker in Taare Zameen Par. And now she is basking in the accolades for her hot and sexy avatar of an ultra glam socialite in Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. In a candid chat with BT, Tisca speaks about working with Madhur Bhandarkar and her upcoming projects.

‘A PLEASANT SURPRISE’

Tisca’s performance in DTBHJ is being widely appreciated, and she’s glad, for it, she says. “I am slightly surprised because I was not expecting such a huge response for my oomph factor.” So what kind of compliments is she getting? “In TZP everybody felt sympathetic towards me, but this time I have received some amazing reactions. My account on my social networking site has crashed with comments, especially from men asking me out on a date. In fact, my husband hugged Madhur after watching the film. Sanjay told him — “I haven’t seen my wife like this before, and she has grown as an actor””

Suddenly the former Miss Universe has many takers professionally as well

Life is coming up roses for the former Miss Universe Lara Dutta. Strong indications are that Lara, who has been toying with a script, will turn director in the near future. An insider says, “Of course, Lara’s direction plans will all depend on when she can take time off from her acting assignments and endorsements.” The actress, who is “good friends” with tennis ace Mahesh Bhupati is currently endorsing a pizza brand, a toothpaste and a hair oil. Her contract with a leading jewellery brand has just expired and she is said to talking to some others now that this commitment is over. On the film front, Abhishek Chaubey, Vishal Bhardwaj’s most favourite assistant who gave us Ishqiya earlier this year, is said to be smitten by Lara’s acting talent. He actually offered her Ishqiya before he signed on Vidya Balan. Lara, who will be seen in a sexy avatar in Housefull this week, is also counting on Ravi Chopra’s Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai to put her film stock on the rise.

Buzz is that Priyanka Chopra has lost out on Abbas Mustan’s remake of The Italian Job only because she bowed out of Rohan Sippy’s film starring Abhishek Bachchan By Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 20, 2010)

Abbas Mustan almost managed a casting coup, as Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra were to share the same frame in their remake of The Italian Job. But we now hear that Priyanka has lost out on the role.

Buzz is that it is a consequence of the actress opting out of Rohan Sippy’s new film, starring Abhishek. Priyanka thought she would be cast opposite Abhishek, but ended up with South star Rana Daggubati instead. So, that’s when the actress decided to make an exit.

// // // Perhaps Bachchan Jr, who is also part of the Italian Job, is not too pleased with her decision? Whatever the reason, Priyanka has lost out on The Italian Job remake as well.

A source says, “Priyanka was keen to work in Rohan Sippy’s film. They had worked together in Bluffmaster and wanted to be paired with him again, but it turned out to be a role with South star Rana Daggubati. So she chose to opt out, citing date problems. Rohan was aghast and grumbled about her to his friend Abhishek. This, in turn, upset Abhishek. Apparently, the actress chose to instead work in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Ek Bataa Saat.”

The Pyaar Impossible promos will focus on Priyanka Chopra’s campus bomb avatar rather than Uday Chopra’s nerdy act, after the box-office failure of Rocket Singh…

The failure of Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year is making producers YRF rethink the strategy of their next release, Pyaar Impossible. With Ranbir Kapoor’s nerd act in Rocket Singh… not going down well with the audience, there is a huge question mark regarding the success of Pyaar Impossible.

The film has Yash Raj scion Uday Chopra playing the consummate geek who adores the campus beauty, Priyanka Chopra from far.

With the release just a few weeks away (January 8), there’s an air of panic at the production house. One of their regular actors says, “Pyaar Impossible was designed as a vehicle for Uday. However, with nerdy heroes not doing well, everyone feels that the timid act needs to be toned down, but now it’s too late.”

Yash Raj, who had earlier thought of weaving the promos around Uday’s nerd act, has decided that it is safer to play up Priyanka’s sexy avatar instead. They are now deflecting the marketing attention from his nerd act to focus on Priyanka’s campus bomb act. Even then there’s a problem because What’s Your Raashee? proved Priyanka can’t carry a film on her shoulders.”
