Mumbai: Rose Movies and producer Goldie Behl along with Fox Star studios announced their upcoming flick London, Paris, New York here on Wednesday. The film stars Pakistani musician Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao and has been directed by debut director Anu Menon.

The film is a romantic comedy and it’s a story about a couple who fall in love while visiting three of the most romantic places on earth; London, Paris and New York. “The story is very fresh. We have tried our level best to make it as realistic as possible. It deals in different emotions that people experience when they’re in love. It is believable because it also talks about the pain and suffering of heartbreak,” said Goldie.

The title is simple and says a lot about the movie. When asked about its significance, Ali Zafar said, “The title is an integral part of the film. It provides a backdrop to the love story and helps in portraying the characters’ journey of love. It’s all very natural and realistic. The movie is about Nikhil and Lalitha, two very different people who fall in love.”

The music of the movie has been composed by Ali Zafar himself. In fact both the stars, Ali and Aditi, sing well and have sung in the film.

The movie has some intimate scenes between the two actors. But, according to Aditi, it is very different from the usual bollywood movies. “The scenes are very organic in nature. They are there because More >

MUMBAI MIRROR; September 15, 2011

The three Raj’s of yesteryear Bollywood came together at the premiere of RK Films’ Satyam Shivam Sundaram on June 9, 1978 at the Metro Cinema. Captured by Jagdish Aurangabadkar, this picture brings back the memories of the days of Raj Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar and their friendship.

Raj Kapoor and Rajendra Kumar were inseparable. Their friendship was even upheld in the 1964 film Sangam. The very friendship also evident in the matching suits worn by the two actors in the picture.

Needless to say, Kumar was one of the main guests at the premiere of Raj Kapoor’s directorial venture Satyam Shivam Sundaram.

Raj Kumar, one of the ruling actors of Bollywood in those days was on the guestlist too. Making the event one of the few memorable ones and giving an opportunity to see the three Rajs of B’town together to the coming generations.

Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 15, 2011)

Govinda’s daughter Narmada’s launchpad in Bollywood faced a roadblock in the form of boxing champion Vijender Singh.

The sportsman who was on the brink of making his tinsel town debut declared recently that he was no longer interested in playing the male lead in Narmada’s debut film Manchali. Daddy Govinda however was in no mood to give up. In an effort to fix things for his daughter’s film, the actor spoke to Vijender and convinced him to change his mind.

According to a source, Govinda, who had been hearing and reading reports of Vijender opting out of Manchali, decided to talk to the sportsman himself. The outcome was favourable and Narmadda’s debut film is now back on track.

When contacted, Govinda said, “Vijender is a self-made personality like me. Look at how proud he has made our country. I’d love him to play the lead with my daughter. And I’ve no qualms in telling him so.

The rest is up to him. He has not said even once to me or anyone else that he doesn’t want to work with my daughter. I think it’s important to get everything sorted out before Narmada’s film goes on floors. Once the shooting starts there should be no glitches.”

Denying having ever opted out of the film, Vijender Singh told Mumbai Mirror, “Maine kab kaha mujhe film nahin karni? I want to do the film.

UTV’s Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapoor met Abhishek Bachchan in Jaipur to discuss their project Ghanchakkar, taking another step to end the tiff with the Bachchans

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 15, 2011)

It seems that UTV Motion Pictures have pulled all stops to ensure that the production house restores the rapport it once shared with the Bachchan family. Reportedly, on Monday, UTV’s Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapoor went to meet Abhishek, who is currently filming for Bol Bachchan in Jaipur. A source informed that the meeting helped to end all the bad blood between UTV and Abhishek.

The tensions between the production house and the Bachchans brewed when UTV and Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine was caught in a difficult predicament due to the news of their leading lady, Ash’s pregnancy.

Then, on August 30, 2011, Mumbai Mirror reported that UTV decided to extend an olive branch to the family by offering Abhishek a role in their upcoming film Ghanchakkar.

And now we hear, that Screwvala and Kapoor, who flew down to Jaipur to meet the Bol Bachchan director Rohit Shetty, also took the time to meet Abhishek to discuss his role in Ghanchakkar.

“Ronnie and Siddharth had gone to meet Shetty to discuss his upcoming film, which is apparently a remake of the 1983 comedy Angoor. Meeting Abhishek was also high on their list. The meeting was a success. Abhishek gelled very well with Ronnie and Siddharth,” said the source.

The half-Pakistani half-Czechoslovakian actress’ Hindi diction for the sync recorded film Rockstar was not good enough; director finally decided to get her part dubbed

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 15, 2011)

He was rumoured to have fought for Nargis Fakhri to literally have a say in Rockstar. But it seems that even Ranbir Kapoor’s efforts to train his half-Pakistani half-Czechoslovakian co-star to perfect her Hindi diction for Imtiaz Ali’s film have been futile. Reportedly, Nargis, who due to the insistence of Ranbir was supposed to record in sync for her own sequences, will now have her part dubbed by artist Mona Ghosh-Shetty.

A source informed Mumbai Mirror that along with Ranbir, even Imtiaz, had given the actress a few lessons in the language.

The director had instructed the entire cast and crew to converse with Nargis in Hindi, so that she would be prepared to record in sync for the project.

However, after hearing Nargis’ recorded portions, the director decided to reconsider retaining her voice.

“After much deliberation, Imtiaz decided to get Nargis’ voice dubbed. Previously, it seemed that Nargis’ voice would not need dubbing, but now he feels that it is necessary. And so, he has got Mona Ghosh-Shetty to dub for the actress,” said the source.

Reportedly, Ghosh-Shetty has been recording for the past 10 days for Nargis’ parts at the Yash Raj Studio.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, Anurag Kashyap’s film scored a jackpot deal with Fortissimo Films, while Pankaj Kapur’s film got left out due to censor trouble back home

Uma Da Cunha (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 15, 2011)

Anurag Kashyap’s time at the Toronto Film Festival has been a rather lucrative one. Guneet Monga, the right hand of the producer, announced that rights to their feature film Michael have been acquired by Fortissimo Films, the most sought after sales agent. The deal was announced on the day it was screened for the press and the film industry at TIFF.

Michael, which makes its world premiere in TIFF’s Contemporary World Cinema section, has proven to be a success in the world market.

The feature film debut of Ribhu Dasgupta is a 98-minute film that follows the lives of people as they merge and get lost in Kolkata’s landscape. Naseeruddin Shah essays the character Michael, a police officer, and Mahie Gill plays the nurse who befriends Michael.

While Kashyap’s film has had an excellent start thanks to the screening at TIFF, Pankaj Kapur’s big ticket film Mausam faced a major setback. One day before the screening, the filmmakers withdrew what was considered to be India’s most prized entry at TIFF.

Mausam’s filmmakers released a statement to the press explaining why the last moment decision was taken. They stated that the film could not be screened publicly because of delays in censorship and related permissions from the Indian Air Force. More >

Juhi Chawla feels her brother Bobby, who has been in a coma for over one year, deserved more attention from the actor

Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 15, 2011)

Juhi Chawla’s brother Bobby has been in a state of coma for over a year now. Slowly coming to terms with her brother’s critical condition, Juhi Chawla however couldn’t help lashing out at Shah Rukh Khan who recently dedicated the music of his upcoming film RA.One to Bobby. Feeling betrayed on her brother’s behalf, the actress said, “It saddens me that the acknowledgement comes so late in the day.” Bobby as the CEO of Shah Rukh Khan’s company Red Chillies entertainment has never been given due credit, feels the saddened sister.

Juhi Chawla, who had always been a close friend to the King Khan had recently in an interview revealed how Shah Rukh did not have time for his old friends anymore.

Added to that, the grief of her brother not getting his due in the organisation owned by one of her closest buddies forced the otherwise quiet actress to react. Juhi had so far kept her grief and resentment about the lack of acknowledgement of Bobby’s contribution to building Shah Rukh Khan’s company.

At the music launch event, Shah Rukh declared, “I want to dedicate this album (RA.One) to Yash Joharji and Bobby. When we started our company Red Chillies Entertainment, the one who helped me start it was Bobby….”
