Priyanka to place punching bag in her building; residents peeved?
0Shaheen Parkar (MID-DAY; May 14, 2013)
In her quest to make the boxing ring sequences authentic for her upcoming biopic on Mary Kom, Priyanka Chopra needs a punching bag at her disposal to get her job — as well as the jabs — right.
The actress, who is essaying the role of the Olympic champ in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production directed by Omung Kumar, has been training for a while now. PC however apparently wants the punching bag to be in a location convenient for her — near her home at Raj Classic at Versova.
However the star is said to be in no mood to allow it be installed at her home or even her parents’ flat who live in the same building — she would prefer it in the complex’s premises elsewhere.
She might perhaps be worried about the hook — that is needed to hang the bag — might harm the interiors of her swanky home.
Says a source from the building where she resides, “She owns quite a few flats in the building. It appears that she does not want to tamper with the ceiling in any of her homes in the building. Adds the source, “As she is busy with her commitments, her father Ashok Chopra has been coordinating with the society folks to install it on the ground floor of the premises.” Considering her star status, the society apparently has allowed her to install the bag in a common area, which is not too public. Incidentally, a lot of Bollywood folk reside in the complex which includes PC’s alleged ex Shahid Kapoor and his father Pankaj Kapoor.

Ranveer’s facial buzz throws Lootera promotions out of gear?
0But the actor dare not defy Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Soumyadipta Banerjee (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 13, 2013)
Ranveer Singh’s now-famous facial fuzz is going places, and getting him into trouble. The actor initially earned the wrath of Sanjay Leela Bhansali for trimming it before appearing for a look test in Gunday. And now it is Vikramaditya Motwane who is unhappy with the way the moustache twirls. The filmmaker is apparently upset that his promotional plans with Ranveer have gone awry – he will not be able to promote Lootera unless he shaves off his beard.
“Shooting for Ram Leela is still on and Bhansali has insisted that Ranveer keep his moustache and beard intact during the entire schedule. Now, this is completely different from the look that Ranveer sports in Lootera. And so when he promotes Lootera, he will actually be promoting Ram Leela as well,” says a source close to Motwane.
A few rounds of meetings with Ranveer urging him to talk to Bhansali didn’t help – the filmmaker refused to budge.
“Vikramaditya has tried his best to convince Bhansali that it is crucial for Lootera that Ranveer get into the ‘look’ of the character, but to no avail. Ranveer has been issued strict instructions not to touch his moustache, and he dare not defy Bhansali,” said an official of Motwane’s production house.
“Even Ranveer is very upset. These days the look of the film is a way to create brand recall. Ghajini being the most illustrative example. We have figured a way out of this standoff,” More >
Deepika is the most beautiful woman in the world-Ranveer Singh
0Ranveer Singh on the girls and the controversies that surround him
Kunal M Shah (MID-DAY; May 10, 2013)
Ranveer Singh is in a more than usual outspoken mood as he talks about the girls and films in his life as we ask him…
You are working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali so early in your career… He is a dream director. There are a number of stories of him being temperamental and a difficult director to work with and to a certain extent there is some truth to it. But it is not as bad as it is made out to be. He has mellowed with age. He has never ever shouted at me on the sets. He protects actors like a tiger would protect its cub.
But your fight with him over your beard was reported… It was a particularly tough day and there was stress. I trimmed my beard a little more than required and it was a mistake So it kind of led to some sort of stress.
You have landed in trouble because of your outspoken nature… I realise that I need to refrain from speaking from my heart at least10 per cent. If you are outspoken by nature it is difficult to sugar coat things but I have realised that I need to express my honest opinion within the confines of my house with friends I trust.
You have had your share of problems with Arjun (Kapoor) and Ranbir (Kapoor)… The newer generations of actors are all very cool. It makes for entertaining news to pit us against each other but there is no such thing. Everyone is too busy to worry about others and I share a close bond with Arjun. As far as Ranbir is More >
Deepika Padukone unhappy about not being able to join Ranbir Kapoor?
0BOMBAY TIMES (May 3, 2013)
If there was one thing Deepika Padukone was truly looking forward to through her hectic shooting schedule in the last month; it was the promotion tour for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD) to the UK and UAE. She has bent backwards to please her directors Rohit Shetty and Sanjay Leela Bhansali with practically working round the clock because she wanted a week off.
Those seven days were reserved for the foreign promotions of YJHD with Ranbir Kapoor. But the weather played truant in Munnar where she was shooting for Chennai Express and she got delayed. Not to forget the delay has cost her dearly. She has to now allot dates to Ram Leela and forgo her foreign trip with RK Junior.
One hears that Katrina Kaif, who has a few days off, is reportedly flying to London around the same time as Ranbir. It’s likely that this piece of information could put Deepu in a blue funk again.
So now people are deciding when Mental will release?-Sohail Khan
0Upala KBR (DNA; April 29, 2013)
Salman Khan starrer Mental continues to make news. First there were rumours that Khan wanted to release it on the same as a Ranbir Kapoor starrer. Then came the reports that the film would not release this year. The latest is that the film will release on the same day or a week before Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela (November 29). Meanwhile director Sohail Khan is loving all the speculation and keeping mum on the matter with cheeky retorts like, “Oh, so now people are deciding when my film will release? I am only saying that the film will come by the end of the year. Nothing else has been decided for now.” Meanwhile, we hear that Bhansali, panicked when he heard about Salman’s film releasing close to his and tried to reach the actor but he couldn’t get through. Salman has been shooting in Lavasa on the outskirts of Mumbai. Maybe the network was bad. Or maybe it was not.
Salman Khan’s Mental to release on Nov 22; a week before Ram Leela?
1Mehul S Thakkar (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 27, 2013)
Putting an end to all speculation, the makers of Mental have decided that the Salman Khan-starrer, produced by brother Sohail, will hit screens on November 22.
With two schedules under his belt, Sohail, who was all this while only interested in getting the film going, reportedly sat down with Salman and the team to finalise the release date.
While Salman’s fans have reason to smile, the news may have given one man the heebie-jeebies. Ever since he came to know of the decision, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose Ram Leela is releasing on November 29, has been having sleepless nights… and not without reason… Earlier too, the filmmaker has had his fingers burnt when his movie Saawariya, which marked Ranbir Kapoor’s debut, clashed with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Om Shanti Om, with disastrous consequences.
Fact is, Bhansali had postponed the release of Ram Leela from August to November 29 only to avoid a collision with Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express that had always been slated for an Eid release. However, the November 22 Mental date has now posed a new problem for the director.
But why should Bhansali worry about a movie hitting theatres one week before the release of his Ram Leela? “Salman’s films usually run to packed houses for two weeks, and Bhansali would thus lose out on a major portion of the audience. So much so, he is now contemplating moving his film out of the November 29 slot,” said the source.
I have to be a little less self-obsessed and more vain-Ranveer Singh
0Upala KBR (DNA; April 22, 2013)
Ranveer Singh is chilling at his home in Bandra. He greets me warmly — almost like a long-lost friend, even though this is our second meeting. An array of sweets are placed before me (he keeps nibbling on them, though he’s supposed to be on a strict diet). During the course of our conversation I notice that he has a certain emotional intensity about him that was missing earlier. Also, he is more guarded now… the devil-may-care attitude is reigned in. He has dialled down the madness (he has been called a monkey on steroids), but the quicksilver charm is on full power, and what hasn’t changed is how the words pour out of him in a passionate stream almost running into each other. Here he talks about growing up, not being a brat and his sex-appeal. Read on….
You are doing the modern interpretation of Romeo and Juliet (Ram Leela). Do you believe in that kind of do-or-die love? I am an extremely passionate, do-or-die kind of a person. I am over-emotional, over-impulsive, very reckless and careless when it comes to love. I can’t plan or calculate in romance.
What is the most impulsive thing that you have ever done in love? I get so infused with passion sometimes that I find myself doing crazy stuff. When I was younger, I was in a very passionate, volatile, tempestuous relationship. Some fights have been very bad, I have even broken things. One time I had injured my leg and was walking around with a walking stick. I heard something and got so angry More >
I just feel like getting married and having kids-Ranveer Singh
0Priya Gupta (BOMBAY TIMES; April 20, 2013)
Ranveer Singh, 27, is a complete softy and a mama’s boy, whose mother is the centre of his universe. He is extremely bright and secure about his manhood and is simple and emotional. He admits that while he had no control of what he would say when he started off, he has learnt not to be 100% open and honest. Over an hour-long conversation with Bombay Times while shooting for Ram Leela, he talks about his badmaashis in school, the romantic Aditya Chopra and why he finds Deepika Padukone the most desirable co-star. Excerpts:
Let’s talk about your childhood? I am born and brought up in Bandra and went to a small school called Learners Academy in the foothills of Pali Hill till class X. My family is originally from Karachi and while my dad is a cut surd, my mom is a Sindhi. My dad is an auto retailer. I was the most obese kid in my class till class three and was called ‘motte’. I was under-confident and no one would take me in their team to play as I was a slow runner. But then, I realised I was stronger than these guys and became the dada in school. I wrote my first love letter on a chit in class one. It read, ‘I love you. You love me.’ My principal complained to my parents. In class VI, I used to teach all the boys about porn and sex. I was 12 when I kissed. The girl was from another school and was older to me. I used to meet her in Otters Club and played table tennis with her. I must have been 13 when I did it fully first. Deepika Padukone wants to go back to her Cocktail diet?
0Conscious of the inches she has added to her girth, Deepika now wants to be served only the kind of food she had during her last film, where she looked her svelte best
Mehul S Thakkar (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 19, 2013)
Deepika Padukone, who is known for her washboard abs, sculpted derriere and well-toned pins, has been looking a bit more filled out than usual. At a recent IPL event, the leggy actress nearly spilled out of her figure-hugging dress and gave us a glimpse of what curiously looked like thunder thighs. Was this new look mandated by her new films, one of which has a voluptuous southern connect? We wondered. A source close to the actress said: “Maintaining an optimal weight and size is very crucial for Deepika who has been juggling three different kinds of roles in three of her upcoming films. She has to ensure that she fits into the costumes of Ram Leela that Anju Modi has designed for a schedule in Mumbai by the end of the month. But the fact that she has visibly added few inches to her girth has been brought up by her close friends as well.”
In fact, Dippy reportedly has had a tough time managing her diet, exercise regime and her hectic schedule. A friend of the actress added, “It’s been difficult for her, but she is aware of the extra inches she has added and is trying her best to keep it under check. She can’t take chances with Bhansali, who can be quite exacting when it comes to continuity – remember how he fired Ranveer Singh for trimming his moustache?” More >
