Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor exchanged vows on Tuesday by exchanging rings and garlands. The bride wore her ma-in-law Sharmila Tagore’s gharara, the final fitting of which was done by Manish Malhotra. Later, she changed into a lehenga, which she wore till early morning to the after-party at a Mumbai five-star hotel.

The songs played included those from the couple’s films like Mauja Hi Mauja, Chammak Challo, Halkat Jawani and Tumhi Ho Bandhu, as Tusshar Kapoor, Malaika Arora Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Amrita Arora Ladak with husband Shakeel danced. Saif ’s ex-wife Amrita Singh and Karisma Kapoor’s husband Sanjay Kapur were conspicuous by their absence.

Karisma’s best friend and Anil Kapoor’s brother, Sanjay’s birthday was brought in by popping a champagne bottle.

The best performance of the evening came from Karan Johar and Neetu Kapoor, who danced to one of Sharmila’s songs. Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Bebo’s aunt Ritu Kapoor Nanda’s daughter-in-law, was also present.

A source said, “It was an emotional moment for Bebo. She choked with emotion while thanking her mother Babita for organizing the wedding.”

When it finally arrived, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s big day had surprise in store.

It was last evening that the couple had a Hindu wedding at the Taj Hotel in Colaba. Possibly, this was their best kept secret in the run-up to D-Day.

At the stroke of 7.30 pm, Saif and Kareena took the traditional ‘saat pheras’ amidst really tight security on the first floor of the five star hotel.

The Kapoor khandaan walked in at around 7pm. Spotted among the celebrity guests were Ratan Tata, Preity Zinta, Fardeen Khan, Vikram Phadnis, Arjun Kapoor, DJ Aqeel, Hiroo Johar, Shweta Nanda, Ritu Nanda to name a few.

Karan Johar was present at the wedding from 4pm, lending his support to the bride and the groom.

It turned out to be a rather exclusive affair with only few friends and family members from both sides present. Around 80 to 100 people attended.

Earlier in the day, Saif’s pad at Fortune Heights, Bandra witnessed the solemnization of the marriage.

Saif-Kareena first left for the mehendi ceremony. Kareena looked every bit the blushing bride to be in red and green suit while Saif exuded confidence in a grey kurta and white pyjama. We even spotted Saif’s son Ibrahim looking on as the couple drove off.

At around 1pm, the registrar at the Bandra Family Court Surekha Lohkare reached the actor’s house. About an hour later, all the formalities were completed and Saif and Kareena were pronounced as man and wife.

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 18, 2012)

Friday afternoon, noted cinematographer Ashok Mehta’s last rites were performed at the Santacruz crematorium, Mumbai. Mehta, who passed away on August 15 at the Kokilaben Hospital began his last journey from his home in Andheri. And many from the film industry walked with him. Among them were Arjun Rampal, Priyanka Chopra, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Shashi Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Subhash Ghai, Farah Khan, Govind Nihalani, Danny Denzongpa and many more.

Shah Rukh Khan, who worked with Mehta during Chalte Chalte and Trimurti apart from the many ad campaigns was the last person to enter. He came directly to the crematorium around 2.30 pm.

Rampal, who considered Mehta his mentor, told Mirror, “He was a great influence in my life. In fact, he had touched almost everyone’s heart in the industry. SRK, for one, was very close to him. Many confided in him about their personal ups and downs and he reposed their faith. He was a complete fighter. He came from a humble background and took the industry by storm.

Everybody I met at the crematorium today, I realised that I known them because of Mehta. Itna strong influence tha unka industry pe. That shows the positivity the man exuded.”

After doing cartwheels for the camera, SRK carried on with the celebrations to Prabhu Dheva’s home in Chennai, where he joined Akshay, Sonakshi and Riteish for a rambunctious party and a table-top jig

Mehul S Thakkar (BOMBAY TIMES; May 29, 2012)

After a five year long struggle, Shah Rukh Khan’s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders claimed its first victory on Sunday night. After a nail biting finale, SRK who did cartwheels on the field on request and danced with his troupe, promised that the party had just begun for the Knight Riders. Surely enough, the jubilant team carried the celebrations on beyond the stadium boundaries into Prabhu Dheva’s Chennai home in Boat Club, late on Sunday night.

Khan along with his entourage landed at Prabhu Dheva’s Rowdy Rathore bash and made it a tad bit rowdier. SRK, wife Gauri and his friends including Karim Morani, Sabina Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D’Souza, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, Chunkey and Bhavna Pandey joined the party where apart from the Rowdy Rathore team – Akshay Kumar, Prabhu Dheva and Sonakshi Sinha, a smattering of socialites from the south were already present.

Needless to say, the host was delighted. When contacted, Prabhu Dheva told Mirror, “Akshay sir and Sonakshi took a private charter to come to Chennai all the way from Mumbai for the party. And SRK sir, when India was celebrating the victory, chose to come over to my party. It was a big surprise and a very touching moment. I have never done something like this.”

Arjun Kapoor throws huge bash

Flush with the success of his recent debut, the actor threw a lavish party well attended by Bollywood A-listers

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 19, 2012)

Arjun Kapoor is on cloud nine. Happy with the way his recent debut Ishaqzaade has been received by the audience and critics alike, Boney and late Mona Kapoor’s son threw a big bash at his uncle Sanjay Kapoor’s residence in Juhu on Thursday night. Arjun’s sister Hanshula and many Bollywood A-listers turned up for the do.

Hanshula, who specially flew down from New York on the morning of Thursday headed straight to a multiplex to see her brother’s much talked about film.

It was heartwarming to see Arjun Kapoor’s ex, Salman Khan’s sister Arpita, attend the party. Buzz is the two were in a steady relationship for quite a few years before they broke up some time ago. That the two are still very much in touch came as a pleasant surprise. Arpita was accompanied by Mallaika Arora Khan and Amrita Arora.

Spotted at the get-together were Salman Khan, Kareena and Karisma Kapoor, Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma among other celebrities. Not to mention Parineeti Chopra, who was by Arjun’s side for the most part.

An eye witness from the party let us in on the juicy bits. “The lead pair of Ishaqzaade received many compliments from the guests. Almost all those who attended the party had seen the film.”

Ishaqzaade director, the otherwise reticent Habib Faisal was seen enjoying himself. Importantly, all eyes were on More >

While India and Pakistan face off on-field, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan lock horns with their respective cricket bashes

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 28, 2011)

Bollywood and cricket are inseparable be it romantic liaisons, IPL or the forthcoming India-Pak semi-final this World Cup.

While Shah Rukh Khan has already declared a party at his Mannat on the day of the match, Aamir Khan too has decided to watch it at his place with his friends from the industry. In fact, he has cut short his shoot for Reema Kagti’s film to host this cricket party.

Our source said, “Aamir has always been a huge cricket fan and nothing is bigger than an India vs Pakistan match. Aamir wanted to see the match, so he spoke to Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar and asked them to reschedule the shoot for a day.

In fact he also has taken a day off for the finals on the 2nd. Aamir has a close set of friends and he has invited them to his house. The guest list includes Amin Haji, Kunal Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Raju Hirani and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

Imran Khan will obviously be watching the crucial match at his Mammujaan’s house. The guests have been called during the break between the two innings so that everyone can watch the second innings of the match.

However the family members will come right at the start of the match itself. Aamir’s mother was in town and will join him to watch the match.”

When contacted Aamir Khan said, “It’s rare that I miss a cricket match and More >

Hrithik, Sussanne to celebrate their tenth in Goa?

The couple will host their tenth anniversary with close friends and family by the sea

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 15, 2010)

Hrithik Roshan will complete ten years of his marriage on December 20. The actor is planning a grand anniversary bash in Goa but no one knows the exact location yet; that’s a big secret.

All of Hrithik’s family members and friends will attend the party. No wonder people are finding it difficult to buy air tickets to Goa at this time of the year!

Our source said, “This will be Hrithik’s 10th wedding anniversary and he wants to have a blast. He is on an all-time high, professionally and personally. After all, he did get a lot of praise for his performance in Guzaarish. So, Suzanne and he decided to celebrate a decade of their marriage in a grand way. The invites have gone to all of Hrithik’s close friends.”

Unlike Hrithik’s theme parties, this one will apparently be a simple, chilled out affair, a quiet evening with friends and family. Earlier, Hrithik and Sussanne had planned to host a party at one of the nightclubs in Mumbai but later, it seems, they decided against it because most nightclubs in Mumbai shut early.

Some of the guests who are sure to attend Hrithik’s anniversary bash are Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, Kunal Kapoor, Kajal Anand, Zayed and Mallika Khan, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, Arjun and Mehr Rampal, Dino Morea, Sonali and Goldie Behl, Farhan, Zoya and Adhuna Akhtar and Abhishek Kapoor More >

B-town bigwigs in fancy dresses at Hrithik’s Halloween bash

0

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, October 25, 2010 – 15:59 IST

Now this was one B-town bash with a difference. Hrithik Roshan threw a party last night to celebrate the birthday of his wife Susanne and to make things a bit spicier, the theme of the party was Halloween. So you had a whole lot of B-town biggies dressed at their wickedest and wackiest in keeping with the theme of the evening. We bring you some of the guests who gave ‘crazy’ a whole new meaning with their irreverent dressing.

The one couple that stole the limelight with their costume was Arjun and Mehr Rampal. While Arjun was dressed as ‘The Joker’ from the Batman film The Dark Knight, Mehr complimented him by dolling up as ‘The Bride out to seek revenge’ from Quentin Tarantino’s cult classic Kill Bill.

Kunal Kapoor paid tribute to the legendary character of Jack Sparrow from The Pirates Of The Caribbean series as he donned the pirate look.

Riteish Deshmukh’s costume looked like a poor imitation of the costume worn by legendary character Robinhood.

Fardeen and Natasha Khan was yet another couple that looked straight out of a fairy tale as they sportingly wore some really outlandish costume. While Natasha was dressed as Snow White, Fardeen played her Prince Charming to the hilt.

Sonali Bendre and Goldie Behl went the traditional Halloween way by sporting a masked look.

While most celebs decided to ape characters from the West, Sanjay Kapoor gave ‘Cool’ a whole new meaning as he arrived dressed More >

Producer of Aisha speaks

First time producer Rhea Kapoor wears her star genes like an overcoat over her easy confidence

Mitali Parekh (MUMBAI MIRROR; July 11, 2010)

You don’t need reminding that Rhea Kapoor is Anil Kapoor’s daughter. Even if you don’t connect the dimpled chin and lush lashes, you can’t miss the actor as he hovers over the photographer telling him which angle is good and then bullies him into deleting the ones he disapproves - his tenor, bombastic game show host-cross-over-actor-like. Not to be confused with the tapori Anil Kapoor of Hifazat and Laadla.

“I don’t know how it feels not to be Anil Kapoor’s daughter,” says the middle offspring, lounging over a couch, head on her hand. “I was born this way,” Rhea says with a laugh.

At the helm of the Anil Kapoor Films, she’s the producer behind the Emma adaptation Aisha, starring elder sister Sonam and Abhay Deol.

For a first-time producer and at 23, she’s mellow and sharp; and at ease with comparisons with famous family members - glancing at a picture taken at a low angle she exclaims, “I look like Sanjay Kapoor! Delete that!”

“Isn’t the dream to take over the family business?” she asks. “This is my family business! People tell me I have it easy because Anil Kapoor is my father. I say, ‘If your father ran a steel mill, wouldn’t you run it too?’” A self-confessed papa’s girl, she recounts many a birthday when she would refuse to cut the cake unless her father was present.
