Sanjay Dutt-Salman Khan-Manisha Koirala clean up their act
0BOMBAY TIMES (November 3, 2012)
Sources tell us that Salman Khan, who underwent treatment for his nerve ailment last year, still suffers from nagging jaw pain occasionally. The latest news is that the actor, who has been paying more attention to his health ever since, has stopped alcohol consumption.
Says our source, “Though his surgery for the nerve ailment went well, the pain in the jaw keeps troubling him. Since he’s taking medicines for that, he’s decided to stop drinking altogether. Besides, he’s not smoking either.”
The nerve trouble, it seems, has set off an alarm in the actor’s mind, as a result of which he’s believed to have become more health conscious. As our source adds, “When Salman was shooting for his TV show in Lonavala and film in Satara, his sister Alvira would ensure that homemade food was sent for him to the locations.”
It is said that the actor doesn’t let anyone around him smoke. “He snaps at anyone who lights up in front of him,” said our source. Another person whose drinking has been reduced drastically is Sanjay Dutt. The actor, who used to like his evening drink, has now started drinking just once a week, say his friends.
“Sanju has lost around 15 kilos and he has become a health freak,” says one of his friends. “He hasn’t been able to quit smoking completely but he goes for long spells of time without a drink.”
One also hears that actress Manisha Koirala has given up cigarettes and alcohol completely.

Why Salman Khan is chewing gum these days?
0Salman Khan has taken to chewing gum in a bid to stick to his no-smoking stand
Shaheen Parkar (MID-DAY; September 11, 2012)
Salman Khan, who has vowed not to smoke, seems to be adamant about kicking the butt. For a while now, the star has refrained from lighting up and he seems to be staying true to his word. But not without chewing gum! While shooting for the Bigg Boss promos recently, the star was spotted not lighting up even once. Normally Sallu reaches out for his cigarette pack after every shot. But onlookers were surprised to see the star determined not to puff away.
Says a unit source, “He shot for the reality show’s promos for two days right through the night. Everyone was surprised to see this drastic change in Salman. There has been buzz for the last two months about him not smoking but it is for real.” Adds the source, “He was carrying packets of chewing gum. Whenever he felt the urge, he would chew gum. He was heard telling unit folks he pops bubble gum in his mouth whenever he feels like smoking.”
Buzz is that he took the decision after his struggle with illness in the past year. He has decided to follow a healthy routine so as to not hamper the recovery process. And smoking is top-most of the 46-year-old star’s what-not-to-do list.
Salman Khan turns teetotaler?
0Sources say that the actor has given up smoking and drinking, mainly due to his health concerns
Kunal M Shah (MID-DAY; July 23, 2012)
They say that old habits die hard. But not for Salman Khan. Sources say that the actor has become a teetotaler and has also given up puffing on cigarettes. We hear that the primary reason behind the same could be the actor’s recent health scare.
A friend of Salman says, “Salman bhai is in his prime. He is enjoying success like never before and has become extremely disciplined. After his health scare around a year back due to trigeminal neuralgia (nerve pain), Salman does not want to hamper the recovery process any more. That’s why he decided that he would quit smoking and drinking.”
Apparently, it has been nearly five months now that Sallu has not had a smoke or a drink. Also, in spite of him partying like always before, word is that he has made sure he stays away from any such bad habits.
Our source adds, “Salman is also making sure that he finishes his films as per schedule and is always present on the sets on time. He is also taking keen interest in every aspect of the film making including the promotions which he never did earlier.”
The source further adds, “Salman’s illness scared everyone around him and his family. He now does not want to do anything that will upset his family members and quitting drinking and smoking is the first step towards that.”

Don’t brothers fight?-Sanjay Dutt
0From his reported spat with Salman Khan to hosting his first telly show, Neha Maheshwri puts actor Sanjay Dutt on the grill
BOMBAY TIMES (October 7, 2011)
It may have been the first time, but Sanjay Dutt is keen to master the tricks of the trade (hosting) as soon as possible. Here, Dutt speaks about his friends, his TV debut and why he is against his daughter Trishala’s wish to make a career in Bollywood. Excerpts…
You may have received TV offers earlier too, then why Colors’ Bigg Boss? The show enjoys great loyalty among viewers. And Salman is another important reason behind me doing this show; he really encouraged me to take it up. He always wanted me to enter television right since he started hosting Dus Ka Dum but he wanted me to debut with the best show and this looked like it was the one.
Would you personally enjoy watching a show where the cameras are on someone’s personal life? Yes, I like watching it. 55 cameras constantly watching you is what the media does always anyway.
Hosting TV shows requires a certain personality and you are known to be reserved and shy, how do you think you would cope up? What makes you feel I am shy? I like to keep away from the media glare. If I just keep blabbering in front of the press, they tend to turn and twist it around as per their convenience to present it in the most spiciest avatar. So, it’s wise to say the right thing at the right time.

“People now ask industry mein kiska Character Dheela Hai”
0Anshul Chaturvedi (BOMBAY TIMES; May 29, 2011) You seem to drive interviews pretty much on your own track, with the interviewer being a bystander. At home, when I give interviews, I make sure that I don’t say anything that is rude or offensive; I run it according to what the sense of humour (acceptable) in the family is. They shouldn’t get offended, shouldn’t think yeh badtameez hai, I run it that way. My father could not whistle in front of his father. Today my father gives me the right to have a drink with him. These are the guidelines I follow in interviews or in other things.
And then there are questions on things – on a song that has nothing to do with me, because the song’s lyrics go Character Dheela Hai. There are questions about marriage – nobody knows when they will be born, when they’ll die, but I’m expected to declare when I’ll be married. These are just questions to egg people on… There are hazaar ways of making interesting interviews. You don’t need to cheapen it. This has been happening quite a bit with the Character Dheela song. I have no contribution to the song. The music director has made the song; I thought the lyrics were funny. Now, I have to make up things. I am asked – haan toh bataiye, iss industry mein kiska character dheela hai? Now, do you seriously think someone like me will ever comment on that?
In an earlier interview, you spoke of people egging you on like kids teasing a lion in a zoo, to get a reaction. More >
