Sajid Khan-Sajid Nadiadwala patch up?
0Upala KBR (DNA; April 30, 2013)
After Hours reported (on April 10, 2013 Sajid-Sajid fall out) that producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Sajid Khan of Hey Babyy, Housefull and Housefull 2 have had a fallout. This had become apparent following the announcement that Khan was not directing Housefull 3. The tiff was sad because the two have been friends for years, and the working relationship came much later. The good news it that the two Sajid’s have patched-up.
Says an insider, “Last week an emotional Khan dropped into Nadiadwala’s office and met him. He wasn’t comfortable with people discussing their issues and enjoying the drama at their expense. For him Nadiad (as he is fondly called) is dear and special friend and he wanted to clear the air. Khan is known to be an emotional guy under that tough exterior, and he follows his heart. He felt like meeting Sajid, and he just walked into his office and gave him a big hug (a big star was having a meeting with the producer at that time) and the two had an emotional re-union.”
Khan affirms that the patch-up took place but doesn’t want to discuss it further. A friend of Nadiadwala says, “He loves Khan, and when people were talking about their professional split, he was telling his friends that they could never be mad at each other or have a misunderstanding because their bond is too strong. Things go wrong between the best of friends, and when there is love between friends, problems don’tlast.” Housefull 3 will go on the floors More >
Sajid Khan finally steps out; spotted in Bhopal with Ajay Devgn
0Asira Tarannum (MID-DAY; April 26, 2013)
Sajid Khan, who has gone into hibernation after the debacle of Himmatwala, was recently spotted in Bhopal. The director was in the city of lakes to catch up with buddy Ajay Devgn who is shooting there for Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha.
Says a source, “Sajid was in Bhopal for a day. He however did not meet Devgn on the sets but in his hotel. He met him in his hotel room to avoid any unwanted attention.” The director had also visited the actor last month when the first schedule of the film was on. Adds the source, “Sajid is extremely close to Ajay. In his difficult time, he is spending time with his near and dear ones. He is extremely hurt but he will bounce back soon.” Sajid has not made a public appearance since the film’s verdict was out and has remained incommunicado.
Jacqueline Fernandez supporting beau Sajid Khan in his low spell?
0Upala KBR (DNA; April 19, 2013)
Let’s be honest, Jacqueline Fernandez got more jeers than cheers when she began dating director Sajid Khan during the making of Housefull 2. Yes, they were an odd pair, but no one gave them a chance. Or took their relationship seriously. When they began dating, he was a successful director and she was a budding actress so their coming together was seen as an ambitious move on part of her. Pessimists declared that their affair would end as soon as the shooting gets over. But the Jackie-Sajid love story survived. Despite the fact that he didn’t cast her in his next film Himmatwala.
Meanwhile, she has warmed herself to his mother, and sister Farah Khan. Sajid is going through a low phase following the rejection of his film Himmatwala by the audiences. He has drawn a lot of flak for the film’s collections because he had predicted crossing the `100-crore mark that he had set with his last film. He is at the receiving end of jokes and jibes, which has send the director into hiding. He hasn’t made a public appearance since the film’s verdict was out. Apart from his family, the only person who is standing by his side like a rock is girlfriend Jackie. Sajid has never faced failure as a filmmaker before and this one came as a rude shock, as he had full faith in his film.
Says an insider, “In such a difficult time when Sajid is facing brickbats, Jackie has been a pillar of strength, taking his bad moods and brooding silence in her stride. Not only is More >
Saif Ali Khan refuses to get drawn into the Sajid vs Sajid war?
1The actor says everyone should be professional about their work and treat everything as such
Upala KBR (DNA; April 17, 2013)
Director Sajid Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala have been in the news for the past few days. The director and the producer, who worked on three films, will not be working together in the near future. Battle lines have been drawn and friends have taken sides and line up behind ‘their guy’. At this point, Saif Ali Khan is the only actor in the B-Town who is ‘friends’ with both Sajids.
Saif is working in Khan’s next comedy and he is also part of Nadiadwala’s next to be directed by Kabir Khan. He doesn’t find it necessary to take sides. In fact, SAK is one actor who has consciously never been part of any camp in the industry.
Recently when there were reports that Saif was having second thoughts of working with Khan after the debacle of Himmatwala, the Nawab of Pataudi came out in support of the director. That raised eyebrows in the industry that was speculating if the actor had indeed picked sides. But Saif refuses to get drawn into a tug-of-war between the two ex-friends both of whom he is working with.
Saif has always been very clear about his friendships and priorities in Bollywood. He prefers to walk his own path and is purely interested in doing good films without getting dragged into people’s personal equations with each other. There is no question of him leaving either of the films. He wants to do gritty commercial entertainers like the ones More >
Saif Ali Khan stands by Sajid Khan
0The actor maintains that he will be a part of the director’s upcoming project
Kunal M Shah (MID-DAY; April 12, 2013)
As news of Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala sinking without a trace at the box office came in, also came the buzz that industrywallas had decided to swim ashore for safety.
While everyone is slowly but surely trying to maintain a safe distance from Sajid, it is Saif Ali Khan, who features in his next, who has decided to stand by him.
Despite the poor first- day collections of Himmatwala, Sajid had already announced his next project with Saif, Amitabh Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh. It led to the industry speculating if his actors would opt out of the project after his latest disaster.
Saif, who is currently shooting in Lucknow for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Bullet Raja, says, “It would be spineless on my part to leave the film just because of one Friday. Sajid always said that he was making a film set in the ’80s and that’s exactly what it was.”
The actor feels that hits and flops are part and parcel of Bollywood. He adds, “I have seen the film. At least he tried to do something different and that’s what is important. Sajid has made some really successful films like Housefull. I am keen to work with him in his next film.”
Sajid Khan calls Akshay Kumar a flop, gets booted?
0His unsparing assessment of the star’s career on a TV show reportedly led to his ouster from the Housefull franchise
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 11, 2013)
Creative differences with Sajid Nadiadwala may be part of the problem but the real reason why Sajid Khan will not wield the megaphone for the producer’s next, Housefull 3, is the spat he has had with the star of the franchise – Akshay Kumar.
During a recent show on TV, when host Rajeev Masand asked Sajid why he doesn’t work with newcomers, he replied: “Housefull 1 and Housefull 2, sort of, got Akshay out of a bad patch of six to seven flop films. He had a run of six to seven flop films, after which Housefull became the first big grosser in 2010. Then again, he had a patch of six to seven films. Then again, it was Housefull 2.”
Not surprsingly, Sajid’s comments did not go down well with Akshay, who promptly called him and gave him a piece of his mind. “It was a big showdown. The conversation ended with Akshay telling Sajid he didn’t want to interact with him anymore,” revealed a friend of the actor. “Akshay is very angry and has told his buddies about it. Even filmmakers like Karan Johar, Rajkumar Hirani and Farhan Akhtar don’t pass such remarks. Like every other actor, Akshay has had his share of highs and lows. More significantly, he is on a firm footing right now,” the friend pointed out.
When word about the fiasco reached Nadiadwala, he decided Sajid would not direct Housefull 3, especially since he is More >
Is Saif Ali Khan having second thoughts about Sajid Khan’s film?
0Saif Ali Khan is apparently jittery about starting Sajid Khan’s next after the ‘Himmatwala’ debacle
Jigar Shah (MID-DAY; April 10, 2013)
When Sajid Khan’s last film Himmatwala sank without a trace at the box office, it set many tongues wagging. After all, the fiasco was preceded by the director’s hits like Heyy Babyy and Housefull 1 and 2. And buzz is that Saif Ali Khan, whose next film is to be helmed by Sajid, is feeling the heat.
A source says, “Himmatwala’s fate didn’t deter Sajid from announcing his next with Saif, Amitabh Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh. The shooting is all set to start from July. But incidentally, Saif is in a phase of his career where he is reinventing himself. Given the way Himmatwala bombed at the box office, the actor is feeling jittery.”
An industry insider tells us, “Just like Himmatwala, Sajid said even his next would become a blockbuster. And after he left the scene, everyone was hoping the film doesn’t meet with Himmatwala’s fate.”
Action replay? No way! An actor who was part of Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala hopes that the director’s next film with Saif and Riteish lives up to be an entertainer.
Says the actor, “We had a lot of expectations from Himmatwala. We were shocked by the response it received from the audience. Sajid felt he would connect with them but this time he just could not. It came as a big disappointment that the film proved to be a disaster. The entertainment quotient did not work at all.”
The actor adds, “I hope Sajid’s next More >
Sajid Khan-Sajid Nadiadwala fall out?
0After walking out of Nadiadwala’s Judwaa 2, Khan now opts out of Housefull 3
Upala KBR (DNA; April 10, 2013)
Sajid Khan won’t be directing the third part of the super successful Housefull series. The producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director have parted ways. This is ironic because it was Nadiadwala who gave Khan his first break. In fact all his three films were for Nadiadwala Grandsons.
Says an insider, “The problem started because the director apparently felt that he wasn’t being paid enough. So, after doing three films for Nadiadwala, he made his fourth film, Himmatwala, with Vashu Bhagnani. In the meantime the two Sajids were in talks for Housefull 3. Khan told Nadiad (as he’s affectionately called by friends) that he wasn’t happy with the directing fee being offered to him. The producer asked him how much he expected. Khan didn’t want to come up with a figure and negotiate so he pulled out saying he didn’t want to do the third part of Housefull.” It is learnt that Vashu Bhagnani paid him approx seven crores for Himmatwala. Housefull 3 is set to go on the floors in January next year and will star Akshay Kumar but a new director will helm the project. Meanwhile Sajid Khan has started work on his next starring Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Amitabh Bachchan,

Himmatwala fails to make a mark at the BO over the weekend
0Sajid Khan’s ambitious take on the 80s fails to live up to its expectations, the blame-game begins
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 1, 2013)
The year’s most hyped film so far, Himmatwala, directed by Sajid Khan, has come a cropper. In fact, the film started sinking as soon as it hit the theatres on Friday.
“The film garnered somewhat decent earnings in the first half of Friday, but the slump thereafter was stark, the film slipped by at least 20 per cent,” a source from the trade told Mirror. Officials from Fun Cinemas and Cinemax confirmed this and a Cinemax official added: “There has been a considerable drop in the box office collections on Saturday. Normally, Saturdays collections are better than Friday.”
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film is not doing well overseas either. “Himmatwala falls in several circuits on Day 2. At several centres, the decline is substantial… Himmatwala is on a declining spree not just in India, but also in key markets overseas,” he tweeted on Sunday.
Trade analyst Kumar Mohan said: “Sajid expected the film to do a business of around Rs 200 crore. However, his remake of the ’80s film hasn’t gone down well with the audience of 2013.” He added the film has done somewhat better in single-screen theatres.
