The reality show Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur which went on air about two weeks ago will not see Resshmi Ghosh playing host any more. She has been replaced by Shweta Tiwari, who has been a part of the show in the previous seasons. The Bengali girl is naturally very upset. “I’m shocked and hurt by this,” says Resshmi. “In my 12-year career this is the first time such a thing has happened to me. I’ve been flooded with calls since and I’m trying to put this behind me.”

Apparently after shooting one episode, Resshmi got to know that the channel was auditioning for other actors. “It’s odd as the show producers had said they were happy with me. As a newcomer too, I don’t think I was bad. And if I was, they should have told me so. Everyone gets a second chance at things and I could have got one too. Plus, I had already signed a contract with the channel,” she says.

So is she going to fight back in any way or opt for legal recourse? “No, I won’t do that, it’s not in my upbringing to do such a thing. I had tried asking the channel people what was happening and then learnt they were looking for other actors. Contract ka koi matlab hi nahi and fight karke bhi koi baat nahi. I believe if work is meant to come to me it will.”

What surprised her, she says, was Shweta coming in her place. “It just seems as if it was always on the show production More >
