Gunday meets Rambo Rajkumar in Panchgani

Mehul S Thakkar (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 22, 2013)

It’s not every day that the cast of two different films chill out together. But that’s exactly what happened in Panchgani when the team of Prabhu Dheva’s Rambo Rajkumar met the cast of Gunday. Sonu Sood, who was shooting for Rambo ran into Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh who are also in Wai shooting for their film.

So what did the three hot-bodied actors talk about? Contrary to perception, it wasn’t women that the men were discussing. An eyewitness told Mirror, “Sonu and Arjun were exchanging fitness tips and they decided to work out together in the gym.”

Added the eye-witness, “Both the shoots wrapped up 7 pm and all of them gathered in the gym. Although the actors have different workout routines, they seemed to be having fun exchanging fitness notes. As usual, Ranveer was the most laidback and kept cracking jokes all the time.” The gym is out of bounds for the public when the stars head there to work out. As for Sonakshi, we believe, she joined the actors too, but only for a chat.

Ranveer Singh admits being impressed with Kapoor’s choice of films and acting prowess

Upala KBR (DNA; May 19, 2013)

Ask any actor to name his contemporary who has impressed him or her and the answer will be ‘I don’t see other actors’ films.’ Enquire about competition and the reply usually is: ‘I don’t consider anyone competition. I only compete with myself.’ It’s almost as if they are taught these lines at whatever acting school they attend at the beginning of their careers. Which is why Ranveer Singh is such a refreshing change. When asked which of the new actors have impressed him with their choice of films, he talked about two fellow actors at length.

He said, “Ranbir Kapoor. I really admire what he’s been able to achieve in five years. He’s in a position today where he’s picking the films that he believes in and they are becoming successful because he’s established his star value. He’s making very brave choices and his performances are all fabulous. I don’t think he’s ever been bad in any movie. What he’s been doing with his recent films is why I admire him even more. For all the young actors today he’s clearly the benchmark. Amongst all of us right now he’s the only one who is competing with the big boys. He’s making the decision for quality films like Barfi and Rockstar and he’s working for the betterment of cinema and most certainly keeping us on our toes.” Ranveer’s high praise for RK speaks volumes about his confidence. Kareena Kapoor refuses to do Zoya’s film without Ranbir Kapoor?

Shaheen Parkar (MID-DAY; May 15, 2013)

Buzz is that Kareena Kapoor is doing a rethink on Zoya Akhtar’s film. The actress was approached to essay the role of Ranveer Singh’s sister in the film. The project was initially planned with Ranbir Kapoor — the reason why Bebo agreed to play his sibling in the film as they are first cousins. But with Ranbir out and Ranveer in, Bebo does not apparently want to be part of a project.

Says a source, “When Zoya began writing the script, she thought of getting Kareena and Ranbir together in the film. Kareena was extremely excited to play his screen sister. But with a change of plan, she is having second thoughts now.” Adds the source, “The project is presently in the scripting stage and Zoya has already sounded off the actress.”

Yet again

It therefore looks like Ranveer’s dream of working with Kareena will take a while. They were earlier slated to work together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela. Bebo had opted out of the project citing date issues after which Deepika Padukone was pencilled in. It appears that for Zoya’s film too she will apparently pull out the date issue card.

Kareena remained unavailable for comment.

Ranveer’s facial buzz throws Lootera promotions out of gear?

But the actor dare not defy Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Soumyadipta Banerjee (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 13, 2013)

Ranveer Singh’s now-famous facial fuzz is going places, and getting him into trouble. The actor initially earned the wrath of Sanjay Leela Bhansali for trimming it before appearing for a look test in Gunday. And now it is Vikramaditya Motwane who is unhappy with the way the moustache twirls. The filmmaker is apparently upset that his promotional plans with Ranveer have gone awry – he will not be able to promote Lootera unless he shaves off his beard.

“Shooting for Ram Leela is still on and Bhansali has insisted that Ranveer keep his moustache and beard intact during the entire schedule. Now, this is completely different from the look that Ranveer sports in Lootera. And so when he promotes Lootera, he will actually be promoting Ram Leela as well,” says a source close to Motwane.

A few rounds of meetings with Ranveer urging him to talk to Bhansali didn’t help – the filmmaker refused to budge.

“Vikramaditya has tried his best to convince Bhansali that it is crucial for Lootera that Ranveer get into the ‘look’ of the character, but to no avail. Ranveer has been issued strict instructions not to touch his moustache, and he dare not defy Bhansali,” said an official of Motwane’s production house.

“Even Ranveer is very upset. These days the look of the film is a way to create brand recall. Ghajini being the most illustrative example. We have figured a way out of this standoff,” More >

Ranveer Singh on the girls and the controversies that surround him

Kunal M Shah (MID-DAY; May 10, 2013)

Ranveer Singh is in a more than usual outspoken mood as he talks about the girls and films in his life as we ask him…

You are working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali so early in your career… He is a dream director. There are a number of stories of him being temperamental and a difficult director to work with and to a certain extent there is some truth to it. But it is not as bad as it is made out to be. He has mellowed with age. He has never ever shouted at me on the sets. He protects actors like a tiger would protect its cub.

But your fight with him over your beard was reported… It was a particularly tough day and there was stress. I trimmed my beard a little more than required and it was a mistake So it kind of led to some sort of stress.

You have landed in trouble because of your outspoken nature… I realise that I need to refrain from speaking from my heart at least10 per cent. If you are outspoken by nature it is difficult to sugar coat things but I have realised that I need to express my honest opinion within the confines of my house with friends I trust.

You have had your share of problems with Arjun (Kapoor) and Ranbir (Kapoor)… The newer generations of actors are all very cool. It makes for entertaining news to pit us against each other but there is no such thing. Everyone is too busy to worry about others and I share a close bond with Arjun. As far as Ranbir is More >

Kareena Kapoor excited about her role in Zoya Akhtar’s next?

Upala KBR (DNA; May 9, 2013)

Kareena Kapoor Khan has been approached by Zoya Akhtar for her next film, which revolves around a brother-sister relationship. Ranveer Singh has been finalised to play the role of the brother.

Says a source, “On Sunday night, Zoya gave a three-hour narration to the actress at her Bandra home. The role is to die for and Kareena is extremely excited about it. Even her sister Karisma loved it, and is urging her to say yes. The film belongs to the leading lady and Bebo has been wanting to sink her teeth into a performance-based role for sometime now. She wants to be challenged as an actress. Another big incentive to do this film are the new energies. Bebo has never worked with Zoya before, except for the cameo in Luck By Chance. She likes the director’s past films and her sensibilities, so is trying to work her dates and somehow fit this film into her schedule.

Date crunch Kareena is facing a date crunch with the number of films she has lined up in 2013-14. Currently she is shooting for Punit Malhotra’s Gori Tere Pyar Mein with Imran Khan, after which she will start shooting for Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor’s joint production with Emraan Hashmi. When that wraps up, she will begin shooting for Shuddhi with Hrithik Roshan, produced by Karan Johar. In the meantime, she has also been approached by Rohit Shetty for his next film after Chennai Express. Kareena adores Rohit and the blockbusters he delivers, so now she is trying to fit in Zoya’s film, More >

Kareena Kapoor to play Ranveer Singh’s sister in Zoya Akhtar’s next?

Mehul S Thakkar (MID-DAY; May 6, 2013)

Casting for any multi-starrer project turns into a veritable game of musical chairs. And Zoya Akhtar’s ambitious next is no different. The film, which reportedly has Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor on board, is being keenly followed because of the possibility of Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan being cast as siblings for the first time on screen. Their track is apparently based on the lives of siblings Farhan Akhtar and Zoya.

Now that Ranbir Kapoor is no longer a part of the project, and Zoya is not willing to wait for him to be free of his commitments, the focus has shifted to Ranveer Singh. According to a source close to the developments, Ranveer has been sounded out for the film and the actor is keen to grab the opportunity. “Ranveer missed out on working with Kareena in Ram Leela. This time he wants to make it work. Even if it means he does not get to play the romantic lead,” said the source. Zoya has so far refrained from confirming any of the reports about her film.

Deepika Padukone is 2012′s most desirable woman

0

Priya Gupta (BOMBAY TIMES; April 29, 2013)

India has voted and chosen the Times 50 Most Desirable Women of 2012 presented by Peri Peri Skinwear. The 7.01 lakh votes received online on www.itimes.comcom/polls along with our vote decided the winners. Bombay Times talks to Deepika Padukone who tops the list.

What according to you makes you the most desirable woman of 2012? I do hope that my desirability comes from my work and the person I am and it’s not just limited to the physical attributes. I am told I come across as a person who is warm and real. At the same time, they aspire to be like me as I am a young achiever without any film industry background.

Who would be the most desirable man for you? Not as a daughter, but I find my dad really desirable and admire him for the person he is. In the way that he handles his success or the human being he is or his being an achiever but yet being simple and humble. Men of that generation are rare to find today. That’s what I will want in my man when I decide to settle down.

Amongst my co-stars, at the moment my most desirable man will be Shah Rukh Khan. In my first film Om Shanti Om, I was new and extremely quiet and was just absorbing the experience. Working on Chennai Express has brought me closer to him and I can call him a friend. On a daily basis, I see a lot of goodness in him. He is extremely generous and is the warmest person I have met. And I can say this with a lot of confidence.

Major Bollywood stars fail to get their summer vacation

0

For once you need not envy the stars. At a time when you will be enjoying your vacation, most of them will be hard at work

MUMBAI MIRROR (April 24, 2013)

MS BUSYBEE – DEEPIKA PADUKONE Bollywood’s Ms Busybee has hardly any time to breathe. With three major releases lined up – Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (May 31), Chennai Express (August 8) and Ram Leela (November 29), she has been “working like a woman possessed,” say her friends. The last time she took a break was during Race 2, when she painted Dubai love-red with her rumoured beau Ranveer Singh.

FEELING HOT, HOT, HOT – RANBIR KAPOOR Ushering in the New Year with Katrina in New York, was probably the last time RK took some serious time off from work. He still has some work left on Yeh Jawaani… and is in the thick of Besharm (directed by Abhinav Kashyap, releasing October 2), which has kept him in Delhi and Chandigarh. And then there are his other commitments – ad shoots, charity football and some time off for his girlfriend – all the things that keep a hot star looking hotter we say!

THE JUGGLER – AAMIR KHAN He rarely takes up more than one project at a time. But this year has been an exception. Handling PK and Dhoom 3 (December 25) has been quite a challenge for the actor, who does not like loose ends. So much so, his friend Sachin Tendulkar recently said that they have not had time to meet up with each other, thanks to their work schedule. And now with Aamir travelling half way round the globe for a three-hour dinner More >

I have to be a little less self-obsessed and more vain-Ranveer Singh

0

Upala KBR (DNA; April 22, 2013)

Ranveer Singh is chilling at his home in Bandra. He greets me warmly — almost like a long-lost friend, even though this is our second meeting. An array of sweets are placed before me (he keeps nibbling on them, though he’s supposed to be on a strict diet). During the course of our conversation I notice that he has a certain emotional intensity about him that was missing earlier. Also, he is more guarded now… the devil-may-care attitude is reigned in. He has dialled down the madness (he has been called a monkey on steroids), but the quicksilver charm is on full power, and what hasn’t changed is how the words pour out of him in a passionate stream almost running into each other. Here he talks about growing up, not being a brat and his sex-appeal. Read on….

You are doing the modern interpretation of Romeo and Juliet (Ram Leela). Do you believe in that kind of do-or-die love? I am an extremely passionate, do-or-die kind of a person. I am over-emotional, over-impulsive, very reckless and careless when it comes to love. I can’t plan or calculate in romance.

What is the most impulsive thing that you have ever done in love? I get so infused with passion sometimes that I find myself doing crazy stuff. When I was younger, I was in a very passionate, volatile, tempestuous relationship. Some fights have been very bad, I have even broken things. One time I had injured my leg and was walking around with a walking stick. I heard something and got so angry More >
