Sanjay Leela Bhansali unplugged

The filmmaker, in a hard-hitting interview, takes on everyone — from Sonam Kapoor to Ajay Devgn

Sarita Tanwar (BOMBAY TIMES; April 25, 2011)

Sanjay Leela Bhansali vanished after Guzaarish. The director will soon be on your TV screens as a judge on a reality dance show. Now that he has emerged from hiding, he is open to being grilled. He promised to be honest, and true to his word, he did not mince words. He cleared the air on friends, foes and his films (last and forthcoming). Read on for excerpts…

Are you going to be a mean judge on tv? No. I don’t believe in running down people. I will say what I have to, without destroying the dancers. The range is from 16 to 60. It’s pure joy to see some people who’ve never had the chance to live their dream, come on stage and let loose.

Do you watch Koffee With Karan? No.

In one episode Karan asked Sonam what she would do if she woke up one morning and realised she’d become you. She said, “Get colour in my life — apart from Blue and Black.” Any comment? I don’t think any filmmaker in India would even think of using the colours I do. Saawariya is a work of art and if Karan can’t understand that then that is his problem. It’s something I cannot worry about. If he is going to reduce Saawariya to just a blue film then it’s just childish. I don’t know why he asks people about me. Whenever he meets me, he is very kind, cordial and respectful about my work. I don’t know why Sonam answered the More >

I want to work with Rani-Abhishek Bachchan

After box office disasters such as Raavan, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and Game, Abhishek Bachchan wishes to set cash registers ringing with Dum Maaro Dum and also wishes to work with Rani Mukherjee with whom he shares amazing chemistry

Smrity Sharma | TNN (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 19, 2011)

Abhishek Bachchan is eagerly looking forward for his film Dum Maaro Dum to hit screens.

Talking about the film in a recent interview, Abhishek said that he wants to change audiences’ perception about him being a non-actor with the film.

Abhishek’s last release Raavan, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and Game have been box office disasters and he wishes to set cash registers ringing with Dum Maaro Dum.

The actor also candidly talked about his favourite co-stars. He said, “Rani is the best co-star I have ever worked with. She’s beautiful and is a brilliant actor.”

When asked if he would like to work with her again, Abhi promptly replied, “Of course, I would love to work with her.”

It can be recalled that Abhishek and Rani, who have worked in films like Yuva, Bunty Aur Babli, Laga Chunri Mein Daag and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, had been linked up with each other before Abhi-Ash’s marriage. There were also rumours that the two were planning to tie the knot.

Though audience felt that Jr. Bachchan and the bong beauty made an awesome couple, the two refrained from working together. However, now with Abhishek’s confession, we look forward to seeing Bunty and Babli light up the screen again with More >

Bollywood Stars Without Make-Up

Mensxp – Friday 18 March 2011 6:11 PM IST

Bollywood actresses are known for their beauty and style. They are glorified on screens as demi-goddesses who are blessed with ethereal beauty.

But its now time for some reality check as the actresses don’t really look like the perfect dreamgirls once they are stripped off their make-up. Lets take a look at how different actresses look without their usual dose of make-up.

SONAM KAPOOR

Bollywood’s number one fashionista isn’t very attractive to look at once her make-up comes off. In this pic, Sonam far from the glam diva that she always is.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif doesn’t look much different without make-up. She is one naturally blessed woman in terms of beauty and, hence, can easily survive without make-up. She looks beautiful in her most basic and natural avatar.

Rani Mukherjee

Yes! The person you see in the pic is indeed Rani Mukherjee. And, she sure does look horrendous without her make-up on. Our advise to her would be not to step out of the house without any make-up or she might end up losing the few films that she’s got in hand.

Deepika Padukone

Sans make-up, Deepika looks like any other face in the crowd. It is after a good dose of grooming that Deepika manages to look like the stunner that she always appears to be.

Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor also looks amazingly beautiful even without any trace of make-up. Guess its owing to her genes and a healthy lifestyle that always ensures that she looks More >

Yes, I m shifting base to LA-Udita Goswami

Actor Udita Goswami speaks to BT about her Hollywood experience, moving bag and baggage to Los Angeles, Mohit Suri and much more

BOMBAY TIMES (March 9, 2011) Now that you are back from Los Angels, tell us how was the experience? It’s been two days since I’m in India and trust me I already want to go back there. I had a wonderful time.

So was the trip productive in anyway? Absolutely. I was supposed to be there for 21 days but I ended up staying for two months. I had a lot of work lined up for me in India. But when I was invited to the Oscar week festivities, which is a big deal there, I decided to stay on. Honestly, I thought it is a once in a lifetime chance and I shouldn’t miss it. Thanks to my stay there, I met a lot of people from Hollywood, hired a manager, publicist and lawyer. So it was extremely productive.

So are you planning to shift base now? Yes. I have plans of going back there in August or September. I have done my groundwork. I’ve looked at places I could shift to and plan to take driving lessons. My secretary here almost wanted to kill me when I was delaying my return to Mumbai because I was having so much fun there. The only reason that I’m back in India is to work on my American accent.

Considering most of our top actors have failed to make a splash in Hollywood films, why are you willing to take such a risk? For someone like me, who hardly does any work here, I think it’s a good idea to move to LA. The thing that works More >

Bhansali relieved by High Court’s verdict

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, March 8, 2011 – 15:40 IST

Sanjay Leela Bhansali can finally heave a sigh of relief as The Bombay High Court has quashed a case registered against him in 2006 in connection with a fire on the sets of his Big B- Rani Mukherjee starrer Black.

It may be recalled that Farida Husseinally, an antique furniture dealer whose furniture was destroyed in the fire which broke out on the sets, had filed a complaint of criminal negligence against Bhansali. Based on that complaint an FIR had also been lodged against him in 2006.

However, the final verdict has now been passed and the High Court has put an end to all criminal proceedings against Bhansali with respect to this case.

Shahid misses Priyanka on his bday?

The actor’s persuasion to get Piggy Chops to comeback for his birthday bash falls on deaf ears

Subhash K Jha / Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 28, 2011)

We recently broke the story on February 25 that Piggy Chops had fled to the US, to get away from the disappointing turnout of 7 Khoon Maaf and her erratic relationship with Sasha.

Even though, the actress left on a sour note with Sasha, he decided to wave the white flag and plead with her to return home for his birthday. Unfortunately, no attempts to convince her seem to have worked.

A source tells us, “After their most recent difference in opinion, Priyanka left for the US with the main purpose of avoiding Shahid’s birthday. However, they both regretted their headstrong nature, which tends to drive them apart every now and then.

When the time of the birthday bash approached, Shahid began missing her and implored Priyanka to return.”

The source went on to add that Sasha persistently tried to convince Piggy Chops to come back right until the morning of the party.

A mutual friend of the couple tells us, “One of the main problems is that Shahid does not express his feelings and Priyanka likes to be told she is special.

Shahid does not find the need to go on and on about the obvious. He wanted to ask her to stay but she left to LA in a huff. Once there, Shahid tried to get her back in time for his birthday party but it was too late.”

Since Piggy was missing in action, Sasha’s good More >

They find me predatory-Priyanka Chopra

She has guts, luck, hunger…and a mind of her own! Subhash K Jha charts the journey of Priyanka Chopra from the dark side of the moon to an actor to be reckoned with!

TIMES LIFE (February 27, 2011) FROM saying no to the unfaithful wife’s role in Sanjay Gupta’s Musafir to blissfully sinking her teeth into the role of a woman who kills seven husbands and gets away with murder, Priyanka Chopra has come a long way in just eight years.

Gupta was deeply offended when Priyanka had refused Musafir. She thought it was outside her comfort zone. The matter ended there. You can’t make Priyanka Chopra change her mind.

After seeing Musafir, I asked Priyanka why she had said no to it. “Did you see Mahesh Manjrekar saying, ‘Blouse khol’ to his wife?” Priyanka retorted. She didn’t sound shocked or scandalised, just amused. We both burst out laughing. It’s rare to find Priyanka making a politically incorrect statement, even as a joke. Earlier on, I’d tease her about being the new Rani Mukherjee who always made sure she said the correct things. “That’s good, na. Rani is so good at her job and so successful.”

The comfort zone is a place Priyanka is very sure about. She won’t say no to a role, because it requires body exposure. But she isn’t comfortable flaunting cleavage. Priyanka is the most obdurate actress I’ve come across. She gives you a long rope as a journalist. But if she’s put off, she takes a long time to come around. “Write what you want as More >

Bollywood actresses having fun using cuss words

0

By Joginder Tuteja, February 9, 2011 – 14:11 IST

Gone are the times when beeps filled the auditorium whenever there was cuss word spoken on screens. With Censor board giving some liberty to filmmakers and allowing them to express themselves in the way they wish, there is marked change in the way dialogues are being mouthed by actors. It is not just men who are indulging in some cuss words today; even women are going the whole hog as can be seen in some of the recent releases or the award ceremonies.

Says an actor on condition of anonymity, “Seems like all these gorgeous B town women are in mood to have some fun, what with all the ‘gaali-galauj’ they are doing not just on screen but also in public. Priyanka Chopra, whom I have always considered to be this one sophisticated young woman, was so unabashed in this recent award ceremony that I saw. What a hoot she was with all her smartly camouflaged ‘gaalis’ and that too right on stage in front of hundreds of guests and millions of TV viewers. It could have been embarrassing but she made it all seem like fun.”

As is known, Kareena Kapoor was the one who actually started it all in Golmaal 3 where she indulged in some smartly camouflaged cuss words in her own sweet and innocent manner. However, someone who wasn’t so sweet and innocent with her language was Vidya Balan who shocked one and all when she went all out in Ishqiya.

“Not to mention Rani Mukherjee who looked at West for her choice of cuss words in No One More >
