BOMBAY TIMES (April 23, 2011)

Chirag Paswan, son of Rajya Sabha MP Ram Vilas Paswan is looking forward to his debut in the film One and Only; in which he teams up with three Bollywood beauties Kangna Ranaut, Sagarika Ghatge and Neeru Bajwa. The movie will release in August this year. The light-eyed actor says, “I’ve always wanted to be an actor. My cousins wanted to be doctors, engineers or serve in public professions. But I remember wanting to be in films right from the very start.” Luckily for Chirag, his family, who are prominent in the world of politics, were supportive. “I’ve always been independent and wanted to do things on my own. When I was a teenager, I started this restaurant with a friend. The outlet was so successful, we are now planning to expand it to a chain. I’ve always had an entrepreneur spirit and wanted to do things my way.”’ He dismisses rumours of his father Ram Vilas Paswan requesting Kangna to act in the film, “My father has not been involved in this at all. It was my decision to do this project, with my old friend Anuj Saxena. Dad did not intervene in anyway. Of course, my parents did come for my shoot and they really enjoyed watching me at work.” Speaking of his experience of working with a big star like Kangna, he says, “She’s a lovely co-star. She’s obviously more experienced in this field, and she was very supportive and fun.” Kangna agrees, “It’s a nice script and Chirag is a talented actor, and this More >

Rumours say that’s the only reason why the curly haired Bollywood actress is in Chirag Paswan’s film

Actors often fall prey to their own greed. The grapevine says that Kangna Ranaut and her secretary at that point chose a movie with Chirag Paswan, son of politician Ram Vilas Paswan because Kangna was reportedly offered Rs five crore. Talk is that the actress was wanting to move into a penthouse and this money came in handy.

But soon after the lure of the megabucks settled, Kangna started with her erratic behaviour. She wanted to walkout of the film as she wasn’t too happy with her costar. Now we hear that she has done a 360 degree turn and adjusted all her dates. “Chirag’s debut was in serious trouble. Kangna tried to wriggle out of this project citing date issues. That is when Ram Vilas had a word with the star, asking her to remain true to the contract. He explained to her that her walkout would jeopardise Chirag’s debut,” says a trade source.

Kangna who is in Bangkok couldn’t be contacted. Her spokesperson denied the story. We were informed that Kangna is sorting out her dates and will definitely be a part of Chirag’s film.

Prakash Jha ends cold war with Nitish Kumar

They were like brothers once. Having fallen out with Bihar’s chief minister Nitish Kumar a few years ago, Prakash Jha is now back on an even footing with him.

After Nitish Kumar’s mother passed away on Saturday, Jha flew to Patna immediately to pay his condolences. That gesture of kindness ended the cold war that began in 2009 when Nitish Kumar did not let Jha fight the elections on a ticket from his party.

At that time the hurt and betrayed filmmaker had said, “Yes, Nitish Kumar and I were friends. We both felt Bihar needed a change and I actively campaigned for him during the last elections. But please note, I never joined Nitish Kumar’s party, I have never even seen his office.

I did express my desire to contest elections. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. So I had to look for an alternative and procure a candidacy from a party that was credible.

Nitish Kumar

Ram Vilas Paswan follows an ideology that’s acceptable to both the majority and minority communities. That’s the kind of party I want to be associated with.”

Alliances in politics are as unpredictable as box-office reviews. Before leaving for Patna Prakash Jha said, “Yes, I will be flying down to Patna for a day.

When I heard about Nitishji’s bereavement I did reach out. At a time like this one sets personal concerns aside.”

Veteran actor Vinod Khanna is very unwell and has opted out of Anuj Saxena’s film One And Only due to health reasons.

Apparently, Khanna has developed a severe back problem and will have to go overseas to attend to it urgently. Kabir Bedi has replaced him in the film.

Our source said, “Vinod Khanna and Poonam Dhillon were supposed to play the parents of Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag.

For the first time, Poonam Dhillon and Vinod Khanna were paired opposite each other. But Khanna had to opt out.”

While Vinod Khanna remained unavailable for comments, the producer of the film Anuj Saxena said, “We had signed Vinod Khannaji for the film, One and Only, but certain dates were re-shuffled and he couldn’t adjust to the new schedule due to his other commitments, so we had to find an alternative. Kabir Bedi has started shooting for the film.”
