Contrary to reports there is no sequel of Andaz Apna Apna (AAA) which was supposed to reunite Salman Khan and Aamir Khan onscreen. However, they will both be seen in AAA director’s film Phata Poster Nikhla Hero starring Shahid Kapoor.
Says a source, “Rajkumar Santoshi approached Salman to do a cameo where he has to play himself. Salman, who has always shared a cordial relationship with the filmmaker, immediately agreed. The scene is really funny. There is a police car following Salman’s car while he is sleeping on the backseat. The police car has Shahid and his girlfriend (Ileana D’Cruz) in it. As the car chases them, Salman’s driver turns around and tells him ‘saab woh police ka gaadi hamara peecha kar raha hai!’ and Salman opens one eye and says tongue-in-cheek ‘Ab maine kya kiya?’ When the cop car catches up with them, it turns out Ileana is a big fan of Salman and fawns all over him. A disappointed Shahid says ‘Aila! Yeh kya ho gaya!’ Salman laughs and says, ‘Saala, aila aila karke yeh Aamir ne puri leli meri Andaz Apna Apna mein! Ab nahi hoga!’.”
It is learnt that once Santoshi was narrating Salman’s cameo to Aamir when the actor got highly charged and told the director even he wanted to do a cameo in the film.
The source adds, “Aamir is believed to have said if Salman is taking my case in PPNH then even I want to have some fun at his expense. Everyone knows the great camaraderie the two actors share, apart from having a great sense More >

The starry attendance at the music launch of Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 was proof of the goodwill the Deols — especially Dharmendra — have in the industry. Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan came to wish Dharamji, Sunny and Bobby the best for their upcoming film. Singer Toshi and composer Sharib started the event with a song from the film and were later joined by Sunidhi Chauhan. Next, dancers performed to Changli, Kurta Tera Lal Rang Da and the title track. The Deols also invited Aamir, SRK, Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan, Juhi Chawla, Subhash Ghai, Anil Sharma, Rahul Rawail, Rajkumar Santoshi, director Sangeeth Sivan, co-stars Neha Sharma, Kristina (sporting jewellery from Anmol Jewellers) and crew to launch the film’s soundtrack. Dharamji said that he’s the number one dancer in India. “My son Sunny has conceptualised a song for me in the film,” he said.
The movie releases June 7.

Ever since Rajkumar Santoshi worked with Salman Khan in his 1994 film Andaz Apna Apna, the filmmaker and the star have always shared a special bond.
Santoshi made Salman do a special appearance in his 2009 Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif starrer Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. Salman has now also done a cameo in his upcoming film Phata Poster Nikla Hero starring Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz being produced by Ramesh Taurani.
Says a source, “It was Santoshi’s idea to have Sallu in the film. He wanted it to be a surprise element but nothing remains a secret in Bollywood when the rest of the cast starts talking about it. Santoshi told the producers about his idea and they left it entirely to him to co- ordinate with Salman. And there was no way he could have not fulfilled his wish.” For a while now there has also been buzz that Santoshi was keen to make a sequel to Andaz Apna Apna with Salman and Aamir Khan.
Adds a source, “Salman was keen and has even expressed his desire to revisit the comedy but with both the filmmaker and he busy with their other projects, the sequel is on the backburner.”
Another filmmaker who is special to Sallu is Sooraj Barjatya. Their association goes over two decades ago — since his Maine Pyar Kiya days. When Barjatya’s niece Vidhi Kasliwal directed Isi Life Mein, Sallu readily did a cameo in her film.

Rockstar actress Nargis Fakhri is doing an item song in Rajkumar Santoshi’s film Phata Poster Nikla Hero starring Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz. Interestingly, there was a lot of buzz about Shahid and Nargis being together for a while till Uday Chopra came on the scene. A source says, “The item number will feature Nargis along with Shahid.” Nargis’s spokesperson remained unavailable for comment.

Finally all the speculations about Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol coming together in a film after their ugly spat can come to an end. The two recently met and agreed to do Fateh Singh together where Sunny will essay a sardaar yet again. Incidentally, the actor was scheduled to do the film earlier but was replaced by Sanjay Dutt owing to date problems. However, the film is now all set to roll in mid- 2013 with Sunny being back in the project.
The filmmaker and the actor have been the best of friends and have even done several blockbusters together like Ghayal, Ghatak and Damini together. However, the duo fell apart in early 2000 when both started making films on the subject of Bhagat Singh. The rivalry took an ugly turn when they wanted to release their films on the same day, which resulted in both failing at the box office.
A source says, “Post that the duo swore not to work with each other only to patch up a couple of years back. Ever since then, they had been planning to work together but have now finally decided on the project.” Sources from Sunny’s office state that talks are definitely on but nothing has been finalised yet.
Santoshi states, “I won’t deny that we are talking about the possibility of working together again. But it is too early to comment and nothing has been decided yet.”

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor may have gone in separate directions on the personal front. However, their professional destinies seem linked somehow. The two actors, who’ve managed not to be paired opposite each other since their split years ago, will be clashing at the box-office this year. And not just once, but twice. The tentative release date of Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha with Kareena is listed on August 23. Interestingly, Shahid’s Rajkumar Santoshi directed Phata Poster Nikla Hero too is tentatively listed for a release on the same day. As if this wasn’t enough, the two will clash with each other again on November 15, which is the date listed for the release of Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, that has Kareena paired with Imran Khan. The same date will see Shahid’s film, Rambo Rajkumar, the star’s first big screen outing with Prabhudheva. With the two ex-lovers pitted against each other, the two dates are bound to generate buzz in the industry for more reasons than one. Unless, of course, the filmmakers realise this and get their release dates changed, citing what else but date issues of course!
MUMBAI MIRROR; (January 25, 2013)
Mirror caught director Rajkumar Santoshi play out a rather unusual role at Mehboob Studios the other day. The filmmaker showed off his riding skills to the lead pair of his next – Phata Poster Nikla Hero – Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D Cruz. While Shahid looked on in wonder, a brave Ileana did manage to get into the equine spirit of things.

Mirror caught up with Shahid Kapoor in Mysore, where he is shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero. Excerpts from the interview in which we grilled him on the controversies dogging him:
Did you lose out on the YRF film because you turned up for a puja in a pair of shorts? Do you really think YRF films get cancelled because of shorts? Have I not attended enough pujas in my life to know what not to wear? I waited eight months for Maneesh Sharma’s film after committing to it. First it was inclement weather. Then, Maneesh had a slip disc. And finally, I was told he needed time to finalise the script. Imagine an actor wasting eight months of his life for a film. Post Mausam, I was offered 18 films. The fate of Mausam at the BO was a personal injury.
Did you also refuse to attend reading sessions and rehearsals? Ridiculous. Why will I wait for eight months and not follow my director’s vision?
They say ‘Shahid is fickle minded’. You refused Punit Malhotra’s film because you wanted changes. You were also replaced in Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again. I am not fickle minded. I had never committed to both the films. I would love to work with Milan, but the film never reached the narration stage. Karan and I have been in talks, but nothing has materialised.
Do you think you made some blunders? Some of my films didn’t do well. Obviously those choices were not correct. But I don’t fear failures anymore. More >

Shah Rukh Khan must be thinking, if wishes were horses! Last year, the star had expressed a desire to make a film based on Mahabharat and wanted to essay the character of Karna. However, sources say that after learning that Rajkumar Santoshi is all set to base his next on the ancient epic, SRK has dropped his plans.
Our source says, “When SRK’s ambitious project RA. One was getting ready for release, he was keen to make another science fiction film and had informed his team to work on the lines of Mahabharat. SRK has always been attracted to the subject.
However, nothing was finalised. The entire team was working on the show, however now SRK has dropped the plan.” Shah Rukh says, “ I wanted to make a modern- day Mahabharat but I was on a flight and read that Rajji ( Rajkumar Santoshi) is also making it. So I dropped the idea. Also a costume drama takes a lot of time and you need to have a certain look and you have to get into character for a year. As of now I am making my next home production and will also work on Farah’s film.”
The actor adds, “I remember when I was doing Chak De! India, I had delayed the film for a year. I told Adi (Aditya Chopra) that I needed to have a particular look so we would do it later. In fact, we had to let go of the girls who had initially been signed to be part of the cast. I guess I will do another costume drama sometime later in my career.”

We’d told you how Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz had hit it off right from day one of the shooting of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero. At the time, Shahid would tease his co-star as ‘Ranbir’s gal’.
It seems, Ileana took all the leg pulling in the true spirit of a Bollywood heroine. She has been spotted spending quality time with her co-star at a Bandra eatery. What’s more, Shahid, who had so far confined himself to Versova, has been spotted zipping around Bandra too often. And we have reasons to believe, it’s not just work that takes him there.
A source told Mirror, “Shahid and Ileana are very fond of one another. They like each other’s company. In fact, they were quite close even before they started working together in Santoshi’s film.”
However, the source was quick to add, “It is very difficult to say at this point whether Shahid’s association with Ileana will go the distance.”
In fact Shahid has been known to be a commitment-phobe. Though he has often been linked to his co-stars, most of his relationships seemed to run their course all too quickly.
After Kareena and Priyanka, Shahid was linked with Bipasha Basu for a brief while. “But that was more a case of rebound,” the source pointed out. Shahid’s alleged affair with Vidya Balan too was a rather short-lived one.
In Phata Poster NIkla Hero, Shahid plays a young boy who dreams of becoming a superstar against his mother’s (Padmini Kolhapure) More >
