Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 20, 2012)
Rajesh Khanna has been battling ill health for quite some time now, and according to latest reports, the former matinee idol’s condition may have worsened. What is heartening to see however, is that in the autumnal star’s hour of need, his family and friends are busy rallying around him, giving him all the love and attention he requires.
A close friend of the actor told Mirror, “He is hardly eating. People around him are pushing him to eat. He has gone extremely weak. Doctors are attending to him every day.”
The friend revealed that Dimple Kapadia, who had separated from the star in 1984, has been by his side all through his illness. She visits him at Ashirwad, his bungalow on Carter Road, every day, to tend to him. The bungalow was being renovated for years, but since April this year, Khanna has been spending more time at the address from his heydays. “Dimple arrives at Kakaji’s (as Khanna is fondly called) place around 1.30 pm and does not leave before 10 pm. It is physically daunting for Dimple, but it is clear she still cares for Rajesh a lot,” said the friend. And he is also very warm and receptive toward her. Recently, he even gifted his daughter Rinke Khanna a BMW. “Actually, he purchased the car from his recent earning for the TV commercial he shot. It was a very sweet gesture,” said the friend.

Taken ill: Rajesh Khanna & Vinod Khanna
0Meena Iyer (BOMBAY TIMES; May 23, 2012)
Erstwhile B-Town superstar Rajesh Khanna, is reportedly terminally ill. He has been in and out of a Bandra hospital for the last year. He recently fell ill again and estranged wife Dimple Kapadia was spotted keeping vigil. Kaka, as he is popularly known, did step out to do a fan commercial endorsement recently with Cheeni Kum maker R Balki. But an insider confirms, “He is far from well.’’
Vinod Khanna, one of Indian cinema’s best looking actors, biggest superstars and an ex-Member of Parliament, is also allegedly ailing.
VK, who quit cinema in his prime to become a disciple of Bhagwan Rajneesh (Osho) is said to be on a poor health wicket but refuses to get hospitalised. VK was spotted twice in March this year; looking dapper in a white cotton shirt and trousers. He came to the prayer meets held for Fardeen Khan’s sister Sonia, and Mona Shourie Kapoor. VK was committed to play Sanjay Dutt’s elder brother in Soham Shah’s Sher. And at the mahurat of the film, one spotted Vinod’s staff checking out Sanju’s costume because he had to make an identical one for the ’70s superstar. We wish both the legends a speedy recovery.
