The Priyanka factor
0Dressed in her spandax catsuit, PC is thrilled to have taken over Akshay Kumar’s daredevil legacy
Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 07, 2010)
It’s hard to focus on the going-ons on the sets of Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 3 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The sun shines on the Copacabana beach, right outside the hotel. Dino Morea has gotten up early to do his daily run on the beach, weaving through half-clad sun worshippers.
Priyanka Chopra, this season’s host, is no longer the girlie Bollywood diva in a frock. She’s wearing a black spandax catsuit, with black boots, her hair tied away from the face that means business.
Chopra takes over Akshay Kumar as host of the daredevil show. Ironically, she was linked to the married actor at one time, making it no surprise that she hasn’t called him for tips. Not that he has offered his congratulations.
Put up on the highest floors of the Rio Othon Palace hotel, the crew has a birds-eye view of the Copacabana beach. Shooting for the show in two shifts, Priyanka’s surrounded by 13 hunks – ageing lothario Milind Soman, the poster boy of intellectual cinema Rahul Bose, funny man Cyrus Broach, a newly scrubbed up actor Shabbir Ahluwalia, TV heartthrob Karan Singh Grover, F1 racer Armaan Ebrahim, model Rahul Dev, squash player Ritwik Bhattacharya, Rock On director Abhishek Kapoor, lithe dancer Terence Lewis and yet-to-come-of-age actor Manjot Singh (of Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!). Lest the contestants More >

Celebrity contestants for Fear Factor 3 finalized
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, August 6, 2010 – 14:05 IST
After all the initial hype and hoopla (sandwiched with controversies), the final (and the much awaited) list of the contestants of Fear Factor 3 is ready at last! Readers may recall that, the programme has been in the news since a few months now. Firstly, it was because the host of the first two seasons Akshay ‘Khiladi’ Kumar was replaced by Miss Priyanka Chopra, who seems to be all game for any kind of stunts and daredevilry! Secondly, the reason for the delay was the sudden exit by many leading cricketers who were initially supposed to be the contestants on the show.
Well, the present day status is that the required quota of contestants have been filled, whose names read as follows: Rahul Bose, Terrence Lewis (choreographer), Cyrus Broacha, Rahul Dev, Milind Soman, Manjyot Singh (the affable Sardar of Oye Lucky Lucky Oye fame), Abhishek ‘Gattu’ Kapoor, Shabbir Ahluvalia, Karan Singh Grover, Dino Morea, Armaan Ebrahim (car racer), and the squash sensation Ritwik Bhattacharya.
With such a mixed bag of contestants and Priyanka Chopra as the icing, it remains to be seen how Piggy Chops handles the action packed show.

Movie Review: SHAAPIT by TARAN ADARSH
0By Taran Adarsh, March 18, 2010 – 16:42 IST
Post RAAZ and 1920, you expect an enthralling horror film, with chills aplenty, from Vikram Bhatt. You presume his third horror film SHAAPIT would be even more scarier than his earlier works, mainly because Bhatt is now a seasoned player, as far as this genre is concerned.
SHAAPIT also makes a startling promise in its adverts – ‘Warning: Extremely frightening’. Now that’s quite a tall claim, isn’t it?
Scary movies made in Bollywood, generally, have two stories rolled into one film: The past, when the wrong was committed and the present, when the past comes to haunt the young couple. Coincidentally, both RAAZ and 1920 followed this concept and so does SHAAPIT. Only this time, the story dates back to 300 + years and then comes back to the present day.
BY BOLLYWOOD HUNGAMA.COMThe unspoken and unwritten rule for horror films is simple: They ought to scare you at the right places and also, the culmination ought to be the best part of the story. SHAAPIT succeeds in giving you those jhatkas at several points [there are some genuinely chilling scenes] and the culmination to the tale, although a bit lengthy, keeps you involved in the proceedings.
Final word? With SHAAPIT, Vikram Bhatt raises the bar for horror films made in India. Full marks to Bhatt for making that one kick-ass horror thriller, which easily ranks amongst the best in this genre in terms of plot, setting, technique and performances. Go, get More >
Shaapit incorporates the Witches’ Alphabet
0
Vikram Bhatt’s forthcoming film Shaapit incorporates Theban, or the Witches’ Alphabet. It is used in witchcraft to hide magical writing from prying eyes.
The director has researched Theban extensively before using it in the film. He says, “Theban is universally known. People who practise witchcraft use it. In my film, Rahul Dev uses this language.
I was reading a Colin Wilson novel when I learnt about it and then researched it extensively. I surfed the net and discovered many of its interesting aspects.”
ThebanPNC’s impressive line-up for 2010
0Whoever thinks that one needs really huge budgets and big stars to make an endearing and funny film should take several leaves out of PNC’s book, like JHANKAR BEATS, HAZARON KHWAHISHEIN AISI, PYAR KE SIDE EFFECTS, CHAMELI to name just a few. And then combine with them the team of Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Saurabh Shukla who have already woven magic with BHEJA FRY, MITHYA, DASVIDANIYA and you would obviously get a heady mix of great direction, narration and performances as seen in RAAT GAYI BAAT GAYI.
Of course, PNC would continue this trend of refreshing and sensible films in the year to come as well. Here are some snippets of what’s to come. Deviating from romantic comedies would be a horror flick CLICK, directed by Sangeeth Sivan and starring Shreyas Talpade, Sada, Sneha Ulhal and Chunky Pandey. Then there would be the much talked about EK THO CHANCE, which sees the return of Saeed Mirza as a director after over a decade. The film stars Vinay Pathak, Rajat Kapoor, Purab Kohli, Amrita Arora, Zafar Karachiwala, Vijay Raaz, Pawan Malhotra, Ali Fazal, Ashwini Kalsekar, Sadia Siddiqui, Saurabh Shukla and is a dramatic representation of everyone who comes to Mumbai, the city of dreams and magic.
There is also a psychological drama, THE ACCIDENT starring Shiney Ahuja, Soha Ali Khan, Juhi Chawla, Rahul Dev, Honey Chaya and directed by Abhijit Chaudhiri. Then there are FATSO More >
