Mr Wagle to return in new avatar
0The 1988 popular TV show Wagle Ki Duniya based on characters created by famous cartoonist R K Laxman is to launch in a new avatar soon as Detective Wagle and is expected to hit the small screen in two months. // //
// Anjan Shrivastav will again play Wagle. “We can’t have anybody else in his shoes,” says Rupesh Gohil, the producer and director . “Anjan is a household name as Wagle. I thought, why not back a winning horse? Why experiment?”
Anjan SrivastavBharati Achrekar however, will not play Anjan’s wife. “We have cast Sulbha Arya in that role. We need some change and Sulbha and Anjan share a good rapport,” says Gohil.
Detective Wagle, will also have stories about a middle class family and their daily mundane, yet exciting lives but with an added twist. Mr Wagle would also solve societal issues in a fun and clever manner. “Anjan does not play a professional detective in the show. Towards the end of every story, he will take up cudgels,” says Gohil.
Sort of a Wagle meets Rajni, we expect.

Punjabi munda Akshay Kumar turns Marathi mulga for Priyadarshan’s ‘cerebral’ comedy
SHARIN WADER BUTANI Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; June 17, 2010)
Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have cooked up a hilarious plot once again, but this time, it’s a little Khatta Meetha. The famed director who has made blockbusters like Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag and Bhool Bhulaiya with Akshay, is presenting the actor as Sachin Tichkule in the film that’s produced by Cape of Good Films Private Limited and Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd.
Khatta Meetha is about a struggling construction contractor Sachin Tichkule with big dreams who lacks resources to realise them. He is the black sheep of the family unlike his brother, who is hugely successful albeit by using incorrect means. And when a new commissioner takes over the municipal office, Tichkule’s woes further increase.
Presented by Hari Om Entertainment Company in association with Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd, Khatta Meetha is largely a political satire on the municipal and construction dealings in India told through Sachin Tichkule’s life. It aims at highlighting and revealing the various facets and levels of bribing and crooked tricks required for a common man to survive the system. Says Akshay, who’s got himself in Tichkule’s shoes, “Khatta Meetha is a cerebral comedy about a man caught in an uncommon situation. This slice of film, much inspired by RK Laxman, will More >
Let 2010 be a year of peace-Akshay Kumar

The last decade in Bollywood has primarily been dominated by three Khans (Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman) and one Kumar (Akshay). And even as his brand equity is at an all-time high, Akshay Kumar’s business plan in the new year is to take his banner Hari Om Production (HOP) to greater heights.
The banner which is a late bloomer, swung into action with Waqt — The Race Against Time in 2005, but has already notched up hits like Namastey London, Singh is Kinng, the entertaining grosser De Dana Dan, and is now ready for its next three productions — Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha, Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan and Nikhil Advani’s Patiala House. Says Priyan, a close associate of Akshay and the HOP, “Khatta Meetha is a satire on the system. It is about the road-mafia which is prevalent all over but more so in Bihar and eastern UP. The main plot line is inspired by R K Laxman’s famous common man. Based on a true incident, this film unveils the travesty of the common man. I have made this film in Malayalam earlier and it was wonderfully received. I’m sure it will be a winner in Hindi too.’’ Both Hari Om Productions and Akshay will move by leaps and bounds in 2010. While the banner will have two releases in Khatta Meetha and Tees Maar Khan, the actor will also be seen in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Houseful and More >
