On one hand, while the IT tax officials must have been themselves shocked to see Shahid Kapoor in shorts at Priyanka’s residence during the raid, on the other, the raid threw open some starling facts like Priyanka Chopra was reportedly seeming to have invested in properties galore! She reportedly owns 10 flats in Mumbai alone, of which 5 are at Raj Classic where she has converted three flats into one and the other two have been clubbed into another flat!

The star, an evergreen romantic, has offered him a place in his Pali Hill pad if things get rough

Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 30, 2010)

The film industry has come forward in support of Adnan Sami after the court order attaching his property.

Apparently a prominent yesteryear star, known for his evergreen romantic image, has offered Adnan and his wife shelter in his Pali Hill bungalow in the worst case scenario.

Adnan Sami with wife Roya

Sweetly enough, the star does not wish to be named. Apparently, some powerful elements in Pakistan are urging Adnan to ‘return home.’ But the singer is insistent that India is home.

Says  the overwhelmed singer, “The response within the industry has just made me feel so much at home.

Mumbai is my home. My wife and I are not going anywhere. We ain’t moving.” Adnan only wants an Indian passport now.

“If I had my Indian passport no one would be able to push me around,” rues Adnan.

Aside from the offer from the yesteryear star, Adnan also drew a parallel with Sanjay Dutt, whose office was attached in a court order yesterday. “Now that both Sanjay Dutt and I are threatened with being homeless we can both move into the YMCA and throw a joint eviction party.

People like Sanju and I are designed to take the blows on our chins. They make us stronger.” But Sanju has an Indian passport Adnan. It must hurt less to take a blow with that.

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, December 29, 2010 – 13:00 IST

They say that old incidents always comes back one way or the other, either to make you feel nostalgic or to haunt you. In case of Sanjay Dutt, it’s the latter that holds true.

The Bombay High Court has passed an order to seal Sanjay Dutt’s Mumbai property after producer Shakeel Noorani dragged the actor to court over losses incurred due to him abandoning a film. The case so far: In the year 2002, Shakeel Noorani launched the film Jaan Ki Baazi that had Sanjay Dutt in the lead along with Priyanka Chopra. Noorani claims that halfway through the shooting of the film, Dutt cancelled the shooting and that despite repeated attempts to contact him, he didn’t respond. That’s the reason why Noorani took a step to move to Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) seeking help, who in turn, had called Sanjay for hearing him but the arbitration committee adjourned the case twice on his request. The IMPPA, then, told Noorani to move to court, which had the High Court executing decree attaching the assets of Sanjay Dutt, which includes his residence in, Imperial Heights building at Pali Hill, Nargis Dutt Road, Bandra and his office, Sanjay Dutt Productions, Mayfair Melody at Tagore Road in Santacruz.

Noorani, on his part, claimed Rs 2.03 crore from Sanjay Dutt, which also includes Rs 50 lakh paid to him as signing amount. Noorani’s lawyer Ashok Sarogi told the media that Sanjay has an option of More >

Enforcement Directorate confiscates Adnan Sami’s properties

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, December 27, 2010 – 14:19 IST

Adnan Sami came to Mumbai and shot to fame with songs like ‘Kabhi Toh Nazar Milaao’, ‘Lift Kara De‘ and likes. The songs became so famous far and wide that Adnan, in no time, became the blue eyed boy of the music industry. Not the one to ‘throw his weight around’; he shocked everyone with ‘shedding off his weight’, one fine day!

Post that, he has been in the news mostly for his personal reasons than professional. Few days back, Adnan was in the news for his estranged relationship with his ex-wife. His family issues were out in the open. And now just when, things seemed to settle down for the singer, another controversy has struck him.

It is learnt that The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has confiscated Adnan’s eight properties and five parking spaces under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). According to the reports, ED slapped the penalty on Adnan on grounds of illegal possession of the estate and now as per FEMA, Adnan’s same belongings have become government properties. Not just that, the Directorate not only imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on him, (as being a Pakistan national, he was not allowed to acquire properties in India), but also charged him with purchasing properties without the permission of the Reserve Bank of India.

News has it that the singer had purchased eight flats in Andheri for Rs 2.53 crore and had taken loan of Rs 1.5 crore from a bank for the purchase.

Rumours say Adnan Sami’s former wife finds shoulder to lean on

Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; September 11, 2010)

Looks like Aditya Pancholi and Adnan Sami’s former wife, Sabah Galadari, have hit it off quite well with industry sources claiming that the former actor has become a close friend, philosopher and guide to Sabah, who is fighting a bitter divorce case against the acclaimed singer. However, tales of their friendship is also raising many eyebrows. “It is being claimed by some that they have been spotted at many public places having a meal together. It is also being gossiped that Aditya has become extra inquisitive about Sabah’s divorce and is, in fact, asking around how much money and the properties Sabah might get if she wins the legal battle with Adnan. He is also said to be guiding her through all this turmoil and has become really thick. Their relationship is definitely raising a lot of eyebrows especially when Adnan and Sabah are locked in a court fight. Sabah, it is said, has found a shoulder to cry on,” reveals a highly placed source who also knows Sabah.

Adnan’s bitter split with his wife Sabah has been one of the most talked about controversies to have hit the city’s Tinseltown. The issue saw him getting dragged to police stations and court as Sabah registered a case accusing him of physical and mental torture. She also claimed his flat in Lokhandwala. Adnan and Sabah married in 2001 and split within a year More >

Adnan calls for a ceasefire with Saba

The singer wrote to his ex-wife calling for a truce, but weeks after she filed a lawsuit demanding that his current wife leave her property. Coincidence?

Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 30, 2010)

After a year-long battle over domestic violence, property and er… pets, Adnan Sami has decided to extend an olive brand to his former wife Sabah Galadari, who has filed several civil and court cases against him.

Adnan is ready to talk to Sabah and sort out their differences. On August 23, Adnan sent an email to Sabah, explaining why it was destructive for both him and Sabah to carry on this bitter battle endlessly.

Confirming this, Adnan agreed to divulge the contents of the letter (a copy of which is printed here). Says Adnan, “I don’t know how you heard about it. It was a spur of the moment decision. Neither my wife Roya nor my mother nor my lawyer knew about the letter.

Adnan Sami with his new wife Roya Sabah Galadari

I just woke up on Monday morning and decided to write a peace offering to Sabah. Hota hai. Sometimes you look at the sun outside your window and just want to end the stress.”

Lokhandwala might’ve had a few bouts of sunshine while the rest of the city was drenched.

Adnan is very clear that he is not backing out on this effort and is very keen on ending the fight. “All said and done, Sabah and I have been married twice. Things didn’t work out between us. That doesn’t mean we become bitter enemies. I don’t know why More >

Anurag and Abhinav Kashyap speak (must-read)

Brothers Abhinav and Anurag Kashyap nurture independent visions of cinema and different value systems, but their playful banter is rooted in a common goal — making films they believe in

Namrata Bhawnani (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 22, 2010)

Anurag Kashyap’s lair in Andheri is a smoking office. As he rolls up a cigarette, Abhinav, 35, walks in, apologising for being late. His brother remarks, “Yeh toh star ban gaya hai.” As they take playful jibes at each other in the haze of twin smokes, older brother Anurag, 38, pokes the bear further, “He’s my budhaape ki laathi.”

Both brothers are brash, opinionated and there’s a testosterone-fuelled camaraderie that keeps the momentum going.

Professionally, it’s a different story.

Abhinav is keyed up for the release of Dabangg, a more commercially viable project than all of Anurag’s films put together. As Anurag jokes, “His fees alone will be the entire budget of one of my films.” Dabangg is a Salman -powered vehicle, as opposed to the niche urban audience that Anurag’s films appeal to. Abhinav has assisted Mani Ratnam and written for Sanjay Gupta, while Anurag trained with Ram Gopal Varma.

Raju Shinde

“For me, the biggest hurdle was being his brother,” Abhinav admits. “Everyone expected a Black Friday or Gulaal from me.” There’s also the prickly rumour that there was no love lost between them for the longest time, which they laugh off saying that they haven’t fought since seven-year-old Anurag ran More >

Raveena’s set for a dream Diwali

It took two long years, but Raveena Tandon’s dream house in Bandra is now almost ready

Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; July 03, 2010)

Brick by brick, Raveena Tandon-Thadani’s dream bungalow is getting ready and she will be moving in with her family this Diwali.

Almost delirious with excitement Raveena recounts, “We bought over the property from someone else and then decided to rebuild it completely. Easier than done.”

Raveena’s peace-loving husband Anil left the building and designing of their dream home completely to his wife.

Laughs Raveena, “At first I was only too happy to put our love nest together. But it proved to be a task to which I was almost not equal. In my excitement of getting our perfect home together I forgot I had our current home in Andheri and two very demanding children to take care of.”

The house which is located off Carter Road in Bandra has taken almost two years to be put together.

So how does it feel to move into her dream house? Says Raveena, “Every home I’ve been in has been a dream house. My fondest memories are attached to my father’s Juhu bungalow where I grew up. Then I bought my own house in Lokhandwala Andheri where Shahid Kapoor was my neighbour.

Then I moved in with my husband and his parents. It’s in a commercial area , therefore noisy but precious because my husband grew up there. Now in the fourth stage of my life I’m ready to step into fourth dream house. Hopefully my kids will take me into my fifth home More >

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 22, 2010) Yogen Shah

Salman and Aamir Khan are taking their friendship to the next level. Salman has wanted to buy property in Panchgani for a long time now, but it’s never materialised. He wants to build a house there. Recently, he decided to ask Aamir Khan for help who gladly obliged and all it took was a phone call.

Panchgani is like second home to Aamir, who has a spacious cottage tucked away in the midst of old oak trees.

A source confirms, “Aamir had short-listed a few potential plots and had been guiding Salman all this while. Last week, Salman finally zeroed down on one of the plots.”

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

When questioned about the reports of her romance with tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi, Lara Dutta had told a section of the media, “I am not single. I would like people to give me the benefit of having the time to just be in my own space right now. I am not being secretive about it. I would just like to protect this part of my life for the moment.”

For the moment, Lara seems more than happy that the new man in her life will soon be shifting base from Bangalore to Mumbai to be with her. She has been actively involved in making Mahesh’s shift as comfortable as possible for him.

And it starts with the couple doing all they can to spruce up their love nest in Nibbana Apartments, Pali Hill.

On March 24, Mumbai Mirror was the first to report that Mahesh has rented a flat in Nibbana, which is less than ten minutes away from Lara’s residence at St Paul’s Road, Bandra. Lara had accompanied Mahesh to Nibbana when he took the final decision.

Last week, Lara went alone to the flat with a lot of luggage. She was there for around 30 minutes to inspect the ongoing interior work.
