Check out Priyanka Chopra’s hot item song in Zanjeer 2.0

Ram Charan dropped from the item song, now 100 (yes, one hundred!) male dancers will be seen grooving alongside the actress

The impact of Priyanka Chopra’s first item song in Shootout At Wadala was diluted, thanks to Sunny Leone. Moving on, she’s not taking any risks. She is hell-bent on getting her song in Zanjeer right. We hear the lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed had to go for a second round of refurbishment.

Says an insider from the project, “Initially Priyanka was very sure she wanted non-suggestive lyrics and movements. But then the words came out a little flat. So the lyrics had to be livened-up without losing their innocuousness. We finally zeroed in on these lines Mumbai Na Dilliwallon Ki, Pinky Hai Dilwaalon Ki. Priyanka felt this was saucy but not suggestive. And we went with that. No one is allowed to call it an ‘item song’ because Priyanka wanted the number to be free from implications of commodifying women. It is called a special song.”

We hear the song, which was shot over the last four days in Mumbai last week, has been given an added boost. Keeping it vulgarity-free, Priyanka wanted, in the words of the source, the lyrics and movements to be “free of flab but nonetheless fab”. The brief during the shooting of the song to choreographer Ganesh Acharya was to make it bigger, bouncier, brighter than Katrina’s Chikni Chameli. But without the pelvic thrusts, heaves and aggressive gyrations.

A tall order. The format of Priyanka’s ‘special More >

It is a big moment for Parineeti Chopra. Winning a national award at so early on in her career is a big achievement. But unfortunately her favourite cousin Priyanka Chopra couldn’t be part of it, even though she intended to.

Priyanka has said to have earlier promised Parineeti that she will make sure to travel with her to Delhi to attend the national award, she couldn’t manage to do so.

Instead, Priyanka sent her mother, Madhu to accompany Parineeti to Delhi.

Last year Priyanka had thrown a party to celebthe success of Ishaqzaade, for which Parineeti won the national award.

A source says, “Priyanka was excited to go to Delhi. She was all set to attend the ceremony but due to some work commitments, she had to cancel her visit.” The source adds, “Priyanka, however, ensured that her mother went instead to give Parineeti the emotional support.” The event was on last Friday and Parineeti celebrated over the weekend in Delhi with her friends and family.

Talking to us from Delhi, she says, “Not only my aunt (Madhu), about 14 relatives came for the function and were whistling, cheering for me even though it was supposed to be a sombre ceremony. We later had a party for 70 other family members. We were all singing, eating and laughing. Everyone was excited to meet each other after such a long time.” So finally, it turned out to be a big, boisterous Punjabi reunion party, even without Priyanka Chopra.

SHOOTOUT AT WADALA – FIRST 100 CR FILM OF 2013?

Shootout At Lokhandwala was an exceptional film and showcased the story of Mumbai mafia in new style which was different from RGV films. The formidable team of Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor is now back with Shootout At Wadala which looks bigger and better than its predecessor. Ekta too have left absolutely no stone unturned to promote this mult-starrer.

Shootout At Wadala stars John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Sonu Sood, Tusshar Kapoor, Rohit Roy, Mahesh Manjrekar and Shakti Kapoor’s son Siddhant in leading roles. John essays real-life gangster Manya Surve who terrorized Mumbaikars in late 70s and early 80s and was the first victim of the encounter spree initiated by Mumbai Police. The promos are exciting to say the least and the film seems replete with action, full-on masala, dialoguebaazi…and item songs too! Priyanka Chopra does her first-ever typical item number in this film and so does Sunny Leone, the latter which has become a chartbuster already.

Shootout At Wadala sadly has few obstacles. Firstly, the film is laced with expletives and bloodshed, which might a section of moviegoing audience away. Even Shootout At Lokhandwala faced the same issue. Secondly, the makers initially promoted the film on the fact that it’s as real as it can be and that real names of all characters will be used. The first trailer too had the mention of Dawood Ibrahim, his brother Sabir and Inspector Isaque Bagwan. However, it led to More >

Will get married as soon as he asks me-Priyanka Chopra

Upala KBR (DNA; May 2, 2013)

People have been speculating about Priyanka Chopra’s marriage plans for sometime now. The actress has never really talked about it in her interviews. But a fan of hers seemed to have gotten a reply on Twitter. Normally when a single girl is quizzed about her marriage, the answer more often that not is: When I find the right man. However, in Priyanka’s case the answer was different. On Monday late night when one of her Twitter followers asked her: “When are you planning to get married?” Priyanka replied saying, “As soon as he asks me!” Now does this mean PeeCee has met that special man and she’s just waiting for him to pop the question at the right time?

Stuck for 9 yrs, Ajay Devgn’s Benaam to finally release

Soumyadipta Banerjee (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 1, 2013)

Back in 2004, Priyanka Chopra walked out of an Anees Bazmee film called Benaam citing date issues. Touted to be a sequel to Phool Aur Kaante, and produced by the same producer, Dinesh Patel, the film was later completed with Sameera Reddy and Ajay Devgn. However, the release of the film kept getting postponed. Finally almost a decade later, it seems the film might see the light of the day. But now it is rechristened as Naam.

Interestingly, Ajay Devgn and Priyanka Chopra were never paired up on the screen after the Benaam debacle.

“The film has been lying in the cans for quite a long time. There were financial issues coupled with other things that kept delaying the release of the film. After a point Anees went on to make other films and people forgot about this film,” said a source.

But, Ajay Devgn kept a tab on the film and when he heard that the film is finally releasing, he was prompt to allot 10 days from his busy schedule to promote the film.

When Mumbai Mirror got in touch with Dinesh Patel, he admitted that the film is going to be released with a new partner. “We started the film with Priyanka Chopra. After she walked out, Sameera Reddy and Bhumika Chawla were brought in and the film was completed. But, the film got into a series of problems and could not be released at that time,” said Patel.

He admitted that although there were talks of making the film as a sequel to Phool Aur Kaante, it didn’t turn out that way. More >

Check out Priyanka Chopra transform into Mary Kom

1

Mumbai Mirror Bureau (April 27, 2013)

Priyanka Chopra is all set to pack a punch with her portrayal of Mary Kom and she is going all out to fit into the gloves of the boxing legend. Not only she is preparing herself for rigorous training sessions, she is also going through various look tests. There are rumours doing the rounds whether PeeCee will resort to VFX to highlight her cheek bones and give her the desired look, or achieved the same results with the help of prosthetics.

Apparently American make up artiste Mark Garbarino, based in Los Angeles, recently tried out a look on the actress. It involved fitting her with prosthetic eyelids to help her achieve the features mandated by the role. There is no word from the makers of the film yet if this is how the former beauty queen will transform herself into the boxing champ.

Priyanka Chopra attends the funeral of Jiban Patra

Sonali Joshi Pitale (MID-DAY; April 25, 2013)

Priyanka Chopra was in Malwani in Malad on Tuesday to attend the funeral of her make- up man Jiban Patra who died in the US recently.

A source says, “Priyanka cancelled all her commitments as soon as she came to know that Jiban’s body had arrived at his home in Malwani. She consoled his widow Meenakshi and told her that she will always be there for her and her children. She told her not to cry in front of the kids.”

The actress has promised Jiban’s wife that she will provide financial help to her children. Priyanka’s mother Madhu was also present. They stayed back till the family completed the last rites.

Before working for Priyanka, Jiban had also worked with Tabu and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for quite a few years.

Jiban, 41, was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel on April 7 while accompanying PC who was in Los Angeles for a commitment.

“She stayed back in the country for three days to finish formalities, before returning to India. She also made sure that money was given to complete the paperwork of her crew,” adds the source.

SRK’s studio to do VFX for Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom look

0

Hiren Kotwani (BOMBAY TIMES; April 24, 2013)

When Priyanka Chopra starts shooting for director Omung Kumar’s biopic on Mary Kom, she won’t be sporting Northeastern features like India’s female boxing champion. Buzz is that instead of using prosthetics, her look will be created in the post-production stage. And interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan’s VFX studio is one of the studios where this will be done.

Explaining why the makers aren’t high on prosthetics, our source said, “The film is about a woman boxing champion and there are a number of sequences in the boxing ring. Obviously, there will be a lot of punching on the face and head, so prosthetics may not last. To help Priyanka get that authentic look, technicians will be working on giving her the Northeastern features in the post-production VFX stage.” When contacted, Omung said that they’re trying both options — prosthetics and post. “Nothing is confirmed yet. We’re not using such heavy makeup or prosthetics that will come off during the boxing scenes. Besides, Priyanka will also be wearing a headgear. We will decide in about 15 days, as to what would give us better results.”

As for SRK’s company doing the VFX, Omung said, “Nothing is confirmed yet. At this point in time, we’re still working out our options.”

I have to be a little less self-obsessed and more vain-Ranveer Singh

0

Upala KBR (DNA; April 22, 2013)

Ranveer Singh is chilling at his home in Bandra. He greets me warmly — almost like a long-lost friend, even though this is our second meeting. An array of sweets are placed before me (he keeps nibbling on them, though he’s supposed to be on a strict diet). During the course of our conversation I notice that he has a certain emotional intensity about him that was missing earlier. Also, he is more guarded now… the devil-may-care attitude is reigned in. He has dialled down the madness (he has been called a monkey on steroids), but the quicksilver charm is on full power, and what hasn’t changed is how the words pour out of him in a passionate stream almost running into each other. Here he talks about growing up, not being a brat and his sex-appeal. Read on….

You are doing the modern interpretation of Romeo and Juliet (Ram Leela). Do you believe in that kind of do-or-die love? I am an extremely passionate, do-or-die kind of a person. I am over-emotional, over-impulsive, very reckless and careless when it comes to love. I can’t plan or calculate in romance.

What is the most impulsive thing that you have ever done in love? I get so infused with passion sometimes that I find myself doing crazy stuff. When I was younger, I was in a very passionate, volatile, tempestuous relationship. Some fights have been very bad, I have even broken things. One time I had injured my leg and was walking around with a walking stick. I heard something and got so angry More >
