Abhay Deol is set to give his long-time relationship with former Miss Britain, Preeti Desai, an official tag. BT has learnt from reliable sources close to the couple that they are planning to get engaged in a private ceremony soon. A friend of the couple said, “Preeti and Abhay are with each other around the clock, despite having separate addresses. There has been a death in the family (Dharmendra’s elder sister passed away) and that’s why they are not rushing their engagement. When the family overcomes the sorrow, Abhay and Preeti will exchange rings, maybe later this month or in June.”
The source adds, “Abhay and Preeti have great compatibility. Both are impulsive, fun-loving people who love to travel and enjoy. They don’t have a big circle of friends and they like it that way.”
The actress, who is in the eye of several storms, has been asked to lie low
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 16, 2011)
Sonakshi Sinha, it seems, has got some solid career advice — let your work do the talking. The actress, who has been courting back-to-back controversies for a few months, and has been making enemies out of Katrina Kaif, Zarine Khan and other actresses, has now decided to lie low. And guess who has given her this tip? Of course, it’s her mentor Salman Khan, who was quite concerned about his find always getting tangled in controversies. The volatile of all the Khans, who himself stays away from the spotlight, has ordered Sona to stay away from talking to the media unless there is something big to talk about.
Says a source, “Sona was really disturbed after a spate of controversies in the tabloids. Constant comparisons to Kat, getting into catfights with Zarine, all of this worked against Sonakshi. She was on the verge of breaking down. She talked to Salman, who asked her to ignore everything and just concentrate on her work.”
While Sonakshi herself has been stoically avoiding media attention and phone calls, one of her close aides confirmed the above story. Said the friend, “All of us feel Sonakshi needs to lie low. From now on her films can do the talking. After all, within a year she has become a rage.”

Shah Rukh Khan has been silently doing his bit for the needy, especially with medical aid. The actor, who funds a children’s ward in a top city hospital, is now planning to fund a cancer wing for the underprivileged in Mumbai in memory of his parents — mother, Fatima, and father, Taj Mohammed Khan (who had succumbed to the illness). Says a source, “It is all in the planning stage. He has been talking about doing this but hasn’t decided when, where and how. SRK becomes very sad when he comes across cases of terminally ill people who have no proper medical facilities.” The source adds, “The plan should be underway within a couple of years. Some doctors, known to him, will also be invited to help out in the project.” SRK remained unavailable for a comment.
The hit pair of the 90s bumped into each other and are good friends again
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 14, 2011) When they shot Ziddi and Salaankhein in the 90s, Sunny Deol and Raveena Tandon were hot property. Glossies speculated their friendship had something more to it. The rumours dented their relationship, even though both maintained that there was no truth to it. It also caused stress between Sunny and Akshay, who was then dating Raveena.
Raveena, now married to distributor-exhibitor Anil Thadani, is blissfully happy with her two kids. But destiny has a way of bringing friends back together. BT has learnt that Sunny and Raveena bonded big time when they recently bumped into each other. Our source tells us, “Sunny and Raveena are definitely back to being close friends. The two always had a great equation and it’s great that they got it back. It’s a pity if actors let go of friends due to rumours that they had something special between them. Both Sunny and Raveena are happily married and it makes sense to let bygones be bygones. They have cleared the air. They chatted for hours, heartily laughing and remembering their old times when they were so thick that they raised eyebrows. But they made sure that there is lots more to catch up on the next time they meet.”
Sunny remained unavailable for comment. Raveena said, “Sunny was and will always remain a friend.”
Shah Rukh raised an objection to a director from Sallu’s camp making a film called Happy New Year, as the title belongs to him
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 12, 2011) Somehow Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s paths keep crossing. Whether they like it or not. Salman’s friend Sajid, signs SRK for his next, while Salman is roped in by what you might consider is Shah Rukh’s home banner. This time the bone of contention seems to be a film title.
The title Happy New Year belongs to Shah Rukh. It was a film supposed to be directed by then good-friend Farah Khan but they fell out and the film was shelved. Producer Bhushan Kumar, who has good relations with Shah Rukh Khan, started a venture with the same title starring Sunny Deol and Kangna Ranaut. Everyone assumed SRK would be okay with it. Says an insider, “SRK and his team got to know that the film was being directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao, who are close to the Dabangg star, so they requested Bhushan to change the title. They explained that they wanted to make a film using Happy New Year. Stumped by the request, the producers have now decided to go for a title change.”
The informer continues, “The creative team locked themselves in for an urgent meeting. It emerged that New Year are two very important words to be retained in the new title as it was essential to the plot and were words that directly communicated to the audiences what to expect from the film. Thus, the team has gone a little cheeky More >
They have papa Kamal Haasan’s consent too..
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 9, 2011)
Siddharth and Shruti Haasan have taken their relationship to an all new level. They are so confident about their relationship that they have started living-in to get to know each other better. The couple hasn’t hidden anything from the actress-singer’s father Kamal Haasan and have also got his blessings. When Kamal learnt that the two were intending to take their relationship forward, the progressive father was more than happy to bless the duo.
“They felt they should live-in, given as they have never really fought with each other or had any sort of misunderstandings. Shruti is head-over-heels in love. She is willing to even chase a career down South and keep Bollywood as a secondary option. She has rejected around five good offers. She feels proximity with her beau will make her relationship work. The couple very much wants to settle down a few years down the line,” says a reliable informer.
The insider adds, “Kamal is very happy about Shruti choosing Sid. He feels the actor is good for his girl. He liked Sid as an actor even before Shruti and Sid started seeing each other. Shruti has also not been performing with the new band that she had formed — the reason, again her relationship which doesn’t leave her with much time to do anything else. Therefore, writing new songs, preparing new compositions and tracks is also not happening. But she is More >
Aamir Khan confused between Deepika, Mallika and Katrina
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 10, 2011)
Aamir Khan wants to include an item number in the Imran Khan-starrer Delhi Belly, but he’s confused between Mallika Sherawat, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone. While Mallika is the queen of item songs with Maiya Maiya (Yuva), Dil Tod Ke Na Jaa (Pyaar Ke Side Effects), Razia (Thank You), Katrina Kaif has dished out the saucy Sheila Ki Jawaani (Tees Maar Khan) and Dippy, the racy Dum Maaro Dum (Dum Maaro Dum) and Love Mera Hit Hit (Billu).
Says a source, “Aamir is busy looking for the perfect item girl to pep up his film. One knows how he gets when it comes to casting and again his perfectionist streak is at play. Delhi Belly will be the first bold movie from his production house, which will have some really intimate and explicit scenes. This is why Aamir felt the need to have an item song.”
The source adds, “Let’s see who lands the role. If Kat wins over Dippy or vice-versa then again people will draw parallels on how Ranbir Kapoor’s one ex-girlfriend beat the other!”
Meanwhile, Aamir confirmed the news, but chose to remain tightlipped. “It is too early to talk about it,” he said.

Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 8, 2011) Soha Ali Khan is on cloud nine. The actress has been specially invited by the acclaimed Harvard University to deliver a lecture on Hindi cinema in an interactive session titled Cinema – Then and Now. What’s making the Oxford grad’s visit to Harvard even more special is the fact that her mother, Sharmila Tagore, would be joining her during the session. The event will also screen Soha’s works like Khoya Khoya Chand, Rang De Basanti and Antarmahal.
She will pay tribute to icons of Hindi cinema like Madhubala, Meena Kumari, Waheeda Rehman and her mother Sharmila Tagore in her lecture. “I’m quite excited and tense about my Harvard visit,” says an excited Soha. “I have never really delivered a lecture on cinema before and I will be in front of the most academic followers of Indian films there. It’s a really humbling experience that I have been chosen by them to speak about Indian cinema and that my films are also being screened.”

The actor and his wife Mehr Jessia are trying to sort things out between friends Mozez Singh and Shah Rukh Khan who got into a scuffle recently
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 7, 2011) Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jessia are in that uncomfortable place where two of their friends are fighting. It’s never easy to take sides. So they are doing what all good friends would do — try and patch them up. Shah Rukh Khan and producer Mozez Singh got into a scuffle at a recent party. A tabloid reported how Mozez kept making remarks all evening, and made guests at the party uncomfortable. But then he made the mistake of rubbing King Khan the wrong way. Shah Rukh, who was already in a bad mood, lost his temper when Mozez made a nasty comment, and grabbed him by the neck. Fisticuffs would’ve followed had friends not restrained Khan. Now the Rampals have taken it upon themselves to sort things out between their friends. Knowing how SRK has always detached himself off from all the people he has ever had problems with (Salman Khan tops the list and even Shirish Kunder), getting him to shake hands with Mozez is going to be difficult. Arjun and Mehr know this and thus they have got hold of Gauri Khan to be their key ally in this cause.
“Mozez is great friends with Arjun and Mehr and even Gauri Khan. It is through this connection that SRK too, became friends with Mozez. Together they are all desperately trying to get King Khan to forgive him. The More >
