Prateik Babbar demands 1 cr for Milan Talkies; replaced by Imran Khan?
0Jigar Shah (MID-DAY; May 18, 2013)
Prateik’s first film Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na may have got him some eyeballs, but ever since then, the actor’s career has not really seen an upward swing. After a series of unsuccessful films, Prateik recently let another film slip through his fingers. And rumours are that it was because the actor allegedly commanded a comparatively high fee and refused to negotiate with the makers.
Sources say that Tigmanshu Dhulia had initially approached Prateik for his upcoming film Milan Talkies. The insider states, “There was no formal announcement about the film going on floors. One of the reasons was because Prateik wasn’t sure if he would be doing the film. After he walked out, Imran Khan was roped in to star opposite Priyanka Chopra.” Though the exact reason for his walkout was never really officially mentioned, insiders indicate that it was over money trouble.
A source close to both Prateik and Tigmanshu says, “Prateik had demanded around Rs 1 crore. But since Tishu was not backed by a big production house then who could afford the actor’s fee, the director tried very hard to convince Prateik to re-think. The actor didn’t budge and ultimately left the film. Later when another production house entered the scene, they roped in Imran.” Our SMSes to Prateik and Tigmanshu went unanswered.

Prateik plays with fire in Issaq
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, November 10, 2011 – 17:11 IST
Prateik, who is all set to play a Banarasi Romeo in his forthcoming film Issaq directed by Manish Tiwary (of Dil Dosi Etc fame), is not leaving any stone unturned for playing his character perfectly in the film. After taking diction and physical training to get the correct nuances to play a Banarasi boy, Prateik is now taking training for fire dance and Parkour to be able to do the action sequences all by himself in the film.
Since the film is based in Banaras, there are lots of sequences at the Ghats where Parkour (a form of physical activity to reach one distance to another in quickest and efficient way) would be used. Doing such scenes would require skill and the director wanted Prateik to fit in the character to the T. Prateik is also giving it his all to be a perfect Banarasi boy in love.
Produced by Shailesh Singh and Dhaval Gada, this modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, is already on floors and is being shot entirely in Banaras. Issaq is slated to release early next year.

Movie Review: DUM MAARO DUM by FENIL SETA
1Goa since years has been in the news, mostly for the wrong reasons. The murder of a British national, Scarlett Keeling had thrown the spotlight on the beach state for the whole world. Yes, Goa is a paradise but with its share of hellish elements-drugs, rape, rave et al. Naturally, this gives solid grounds to any filmmaker/writer worth his salt to come up with a solid thriller. And that’s what Rohan Sippy tries to achieve with Dum Maaro Dum. The film had generated considerable excitement but there were fears it would miss the aim. However, all fears can be put to rest as Dum Maaro Dum is simply electrifying! The narrative is fast-paced, performances are topnotch and you never know what will happen the next moment! In short, the film does give you a HIGH!
The story of the movie: When the negative reports on Goa become unbearable for its Chief Minister, he appoints ACP Vishnu Kamat (Abhishek Bachchan). His work – cleansing the state of all its illegal elements, including the sprawling drug business. On the other hand, there is Lorry (Prateik), 17 year old who is determined to go to US for further studies with his girlfriend (Anaitha Nair) but cant due to his financial woes. But he still has a chance if he agrees to do a small work for the druglords. Joki (Rana Daggubati) is a like a brother to Lorry who has stood as a silent spectator to the wrong goings-on around him. He loved Zoe (Bipasha Basu) but does nothing when she gets drawn into the big More >
I’d love to buy an IPL team-RaNa Daggubati
0Bollywood debutant RaNa Daggubati on Bipasha Basu, his Hindi film, cricket and lots more in a dil se chat with BT
BOMBAY TIMES (April 17, 2011)
Tall, laconic and unconventionally handsome Telugu star turned B-Town debutant RaNa Daggubati has created quite a stir. Ever since the film’s first promos have hit the airwaves and television, RaNa has been the talk of B-town thanks to his supposed liaison with co-star Bipasha Basu. RaNa clears the air about Bipasha who he claims is just “my love interest in the film. I didn’t know her before I started working with her. She made me feel comfortable, and today we are great friends. I respect her because she is my senior. These kind of rumours embarrass me sometimes.” RaNa had known Abhishek Bachchan and Prateik Babbar from before and shooting with them was like a “big party.” From an entrepreneur to an actor, the shift might be drastic but RaNa admits that he was always connected to the film industry. “I sold my company and decided to act in films. I have always been involved with films and now I am getting to be in front of the camera. I might eventually get into the technical aspect of filmmaking but at the moment I want to concentrate only on acting,” he points out. RaNa’s grandfather is the Dadasaheb Phalke Award winning film producer D Rama Naidu, his father D Suresh Babu is a film producer and actors Venkatesh and Nagarjuna are his uncles. Inspite of that, RaNa confesses to feeling More >
Prateik bags Bhaag Milkha Bhaag?
0The actor beat Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan to land the lead role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 09, 2011)
Speculations about who will finally be Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Milkha Singh have been on for a while now. Initially, there were talks of Akshay Kumar stepping into the shoes of the Flying Sikh. Abhishek Bachchan, Mehra’s Delhi 6 man was also in the running.
However, it seems that Prateik Babbar has beat both the actors to land the lead role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
Our source revealed, “Mehra wants bulk dates to finish the shoot for this film. He needs around nine months for workshops, rehearsals, and the shoot.
He had the same problem with Prateik who’s very busy with five films at the moment. However, since the script is good, Prateik is trying to take time out for the film.”
“Rakeysh is very keen on Prateik. The director has seen his work in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Dhobi Ghat and has realised his potential as an actor. Prateik is, however, keeping his lips sealed about the project,” added the source.
When we contacted Prateik, his spokesperson said, “We are not in a position to talk about this. Please get in touch with Rakyesh’s Omprakash Mehra Productions office.”
Bhaag Milkha Bhag will be the first biographical film to be made on a sports icon in India. Milkha Singh’s story is a stunning tale of the triumph of human spirit. He ran away from Pakistan during the partition, after witnessing all the More >
Shoot of Aarakshan was unbelievable-Prateik
0By Devansh Patel, March 25, 2011 – 10:30 IST
After working with the who’s who of our industry, many actors, after spending almost a decade or more, consider themselves lucky. Some think it’s a blessing in disguise when they rub shoulders with the only Big B of our industry, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. Enter Prateik. In his fourth film, he has managed to do just that. Prateik was blown away by the 68 year old man’s passion for acting and his undying energies on the sets. But first, here’s what the young protégé has to say about his experience of working on Aarakshan with Prakash Jha.
“The shoot of Aarakshan was unbelievable. Unlike Rohan Sippy, Prakash Jha is very up there. He is elder too and more experienced. He knows so much about the art. He is super confident and a dream to work with. Touchwood, I’ve been pretty lucky to work with really good people. I want to give my directors everything what they want from me”, quotes Prateik.
Call it coincidence, but Prateik cannot believe his luck that in the career span of just four films, he has worked with not just one, but both the Bachchans. Abhishek in Dum Maaro Dum and Big B in Aarakshan.
The actor recalls, “What a coincidence this is that I am working with both the Bachchans in my early days as an actor. I’ve worked with Abhishek in Dum Maaro Dum and now with Amitabh Bachchan in Aarakshan. God’s been kind. Amitji is a living legend.”
And before I ask him another question he jumps in. I’m sure when any actor talks More >
I hope Prateik doesn’t get a new father next-Aarya Babbar
0Aarya Babbar lashes out at Prateik for calling Abhishek Bachchan his big brother
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; March 10, 2011) Prateik irked the Babbar khandaan when he dropped his last name and chose to be simply known as Prateik. Now his family is fuming over his bonding with the Bachchans. The Bachchan-Babbar dushmani is legendary. It began when Amitabh and Raj were both actors, and continued when they were political rivals as well. Recently, Prateik said in an interview that he considers Abhishek Bachchan his big brother, sending his family members into a rage, especially his older brother Aarya Babbar. Not one to mince words, he says, “Next, I hope he (doesn’t name Prateik even once throughout the conversation) doesn’t say that he has found a new father now that he has found a brother in Abhishek!” The reference to Big B is obvious.
Aarya continues, “We’ve seen him doing all kinds of things for publicity. First it was getting sympathy votes in a cheap manner by using his late mother, Smita Patil’s name. Then he dropped his Babbar surname, insulting his father and family, and now he has aligned himself with the Bachchans and got himself a big brother. I mean what is he thinking?”
An angry Aarya adds, “I don’t want to get into the relationship we share with the Bachchans, but I can tell you that we have been cordial. Fact remains that the industry talks about the relationship between our family and theirs, and he (Prateik) is More >
Deglam Deepika’s powerhouse performance in Aarakshan
0By Subhash K. Jha, March 9, 2011 – 11:06 IST
Everyone knows Prakash Jha makes realistic films even when it’s a glamorous star-studded larger-than-life drama like Raajneeti, Jha has certain dos and don’ts about the way his actors and actresses should appear before the camera.
No makeup in Prakash Jha’s range of camera vision means absolutely no makeup. It was therefore no surprise to know that Deepika Padukone appears without even a dab of lip-gloss in Aarakshan, wearing the most ordinary salwar-kameez outfits reminding everyone including Prateik Babbar, of Prateik’s late much-missed mom Smita Patil.
On the streets of Bhopal where she is shooting, Deepika passes off as just another face in the crowd.
Last week while doing a huge breakdown scene with Saif Ali Khan in the artificial rain with absolutely no accessory or adornment on her person, Deeepika pulled out all stops to deliver a rousing performance that left everyone including the Big B impressed.
Says a source from Bhopal, “It was a long sequence in artificial rain where Deepika confronts Saif. We don’t know what triggered off that huge powerhouse of emotions in Deepika. But she simply broke down. We suspect Deepika referred back in her own life to feel the agony of her character reaching out to a man who won’t express his love.”
Confirming the high-velocity sequence with Deepika, director Prakash Jha says, “This is not the first time that Deepika has surprised me with her emotional intensity in Aarakshan. More >
