Satish Kaushik gets Pithamagan’s rights

Remaking south Indian films in Hindi can be extremely profitable – Ghajini, Wanted, Ready and Bodyguard being just a few examples. So, when Satish Kaushik decided to join the fight for buying the remake rights of Tamil superhit Pithamagan (2003), it did not come as a surprise.
The fact that Kaushik won the rights defeating other contenders like Boney Kapoor, David Dhawan, Vashu Bhagnani, UTV Motion Pictures and even Sanjay Dutt, however, was surprising.
Satish Kaushik, one may recall, had remade the Tamil film Sethu into the 2003 hit Tere Naam starring Salman Khan.
When contacted, Satish Kaushik said, “I had seen Pithamagan in the theatres in 2003. The story and especially the character played by Vikram moved me. I had wanted to remake the film ever since.
Thankfully, now I can. For this film, I am in the process of finding two very string actors for the lead roles that were played by Vikram and Suriya in the Tamil version. One of them has to be an action hero. But I haven’t decided on anyone yet.”
