Dating isn’t a bad thing. We wonder why the tinsel townies still keep denying their romantic liasions time and again? Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma, for instance, were simply friends first.

Then they reportedly, kissed at Shahid Kapoor’s party in February. Still, Anushka maintaining the platonic nature of their relationship, said in a recent interview, “We are great friends. We hang out, have coffee together, go out for dinners.

We have common friends. We have some karmic connection but it’s totally platonic.” Yeah right! That’s why they were inseparable at Ranbir Kapoor’s recent house party held at Krishna Raj. Wonder what Plato has to say to that.

The Kapoor Khandaan has been known for their swinging parties since the times of the first RK. But lately, except for the yearly Ganesh Chaturthi, hardly anyone got to hear of an RK bash. The fourth generation Kapoor lad, Ranbir has however managed to break the norm.

On Wednesday night, with his parents away and their Pali Hill bungalow Krishna Raj empty, Ranbir announced his first ever Bollywood bash.

A little spur of the moment, the party which was supposed to be kept under wraps was reported by Mumbai Mirror yesterday. And now we bring to you the juicy details of what went on behind the closed doors of the rather impressive venue.

Ranbir or work? Is that even a question?

Ace photographer Atul Kasbekar zoomed in to the party in his car with a pretty girl in the back seat. An eyewitness even called her ‘pouty’. Going by the description, we thought it could be Ranbir’s latest ‘friend’ Angela Jonsson.

But then again, wasn’t she in Bangalore for an assignment till evening, on that very day? But looks like, when it comes to choosing between work and Ranbir’s house party, the latter wins hands down. At least for this Kingfisher calendar girl.

While daddy Rishi and mummy Neetu are vacationing, beta Ranbir Kapoor has decided to make the most of his parents’ absence. Last night, the young actor threw a bash for his friends at his Pali Hill bungalow, Krishna Raj.

We saw Arjun Kapoor, Soha cuddling her boyfriend Kunal Khemmu, Imtiaz Ali donning a T-shirt with Sadda Haq scribbled on it and a few guys from the Rockstar crew arrive.

“There was nobody at Ranbir’s party till 10pm. The guests started arriving by 10.15pm. Imtiaz was the first to arrive,” said an eyewitness.

Good friend Anushka Sharma, Vikas Behl, Vikram Motwani and Sonal Chauhan walked in a little later. Anushka’s boyfriend Ranveer Singh, Zayed Khan and Shahid Kapoor (back from Switzerland a couple of days ago) on his bike joined soon after.

The impromptu party for which almost half of Bollywood got invited must surely have taken a lot of planning on Ranbir’s part, who was in Hyderabad till day before.

“We saw about 100 kilos of ice being brought in. There is definitely going to be a lot of booze in this party, guys,” informed the eyewitness.

However, we wonder if Rishi and Neetu’s laadla was courteous enough to invite his ex-girlfriends Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Nargis Fakhri. So what if Deepika and Sonam were not really nice to him on a TV talk show, and Nargis has flown back to the US?

Minissha to debut at Cannes!

Minissha Lamba is on cloud nine. The actress has been invited to the Cannes film festival to walk the red carpet on the opening night (May 11) and also attend the gala dinner and party afterwards. She will waltz into the grand premiere of Woody Allen’s film Midnight in Paris and dine with the star cast of the film at the after party. Mini reveals to BT, “It is a huge moment of pride. I always wanted to be there and represent my country. I will be there for 2-3 days and attend a whole lot of events.”

Mini is looking forward to meeting Marion Cotillard, the lead in Woody’s film. “I love her as an actress and I have always wanted to meet her and talk to her and get to know her sensibilities as an artist. I would even meet Woody and thank him for hosting me at his exclusive party,” she says. The actress is still undecided about the ensemble that she would flaunt on the red carpet that will also have the Bachchan bahu walking on it on the same night. “It’s a tough choice whether I want to go Western or Indian. My stylists are talking to all big fashion designers and stores from India and abroad to get my look perfect for the night.”

I don’t look my age, and the occasional star pinches me on the cheek and croons ‘cho chweet’. But I sure as hell wasn’t born yesterday. And sometimes I am forced to be as a good an actor as the professional ones. Except here, there are no arc lights, no cameras.

Imagine sitting in a star’s van, with a face that defines ‘poker face’, and listening to their sometimes imaginative, sometimes desperate, sometimes believable, sometimes downright hilarious li’l lies. You want to explode with laughter, instead you do a ‘pat pat there, there’.

Because that’s what you do. Play agony aunt to the actors’ acting.

It is an actor’s job not to tell the truth. Why would they, when every word they say is scrutinised, dissected and analysed? But sometimes, when they start believing in their own lies, you need to watch out. And it is my job to look for what lies beneath their wonderfully constructed fibs.

SRK apparently missed out on hosting Akon’s show over sponsorship issues, the singer is now being hosted by Salman Khan’s close friend Avinash Gowariker

Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; April 14, 2011) International singer Akon and Shah Rukh Khan have become friends in the last year, following him recording a track for the actor’s film Ra.One. Last year, the actor hosted a bash for the singer. Akon’s birthday is around the corner (April 16) and King Khan was planning to have him perform in the city for the same. But due to sponsorship issues as well as time constraints due to the on-going IPL season, he couldn’t lock the deal in time.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan wanted to host the event but was advised against it, given his history with SRK. Now, Akon has been scooped out of SRK’s camp and the venue for the act has shifted to Pune, and Salman’s close friend, Bala is at the helm of things.

An insider spills the beans, “Akon, apparently, gave SRK a discounted rate for the Mumbai performance, given their longstanding association. The amount was about 50 lakhs for a twohour performance but sponsors didn’t come on board quick enough and SRK opted to let go of the offer.”

The unit and crew of Vinay Sapru’s Happy New Year returned from Los Angeles with some juicy news and without their leading lady Kangna Ranaut, who they say, was away with Hollywood actor Gerard Butler at an undisclosed location.

While news of Kangna’s rendezvous with Butler is doing the rounds, what was not disclosed was Kangna’s impromptu holiday with Butler.

Butler is not new to Bollywood ladies, in fact he is known to get rather misty-eyed with them. After he was spotted partying with Priyanka Chopra at her Yari Road apartment, where he reportedly went down on his knees pleading with her to marry him, he said, “I don’t mind marrying an Indian girl…too bad Priyanka already has a boyfriend.”

At LA, after Butler met Kangna, sources from the unit say, that the two took this casual bonding to the next level. They did not just party after packup, but took off to an undisclosed place on the day the schedule for the film ended.

A source from the unit told Mumbai Mirror, “Kangna was with Butler at the airport. She was supposed to come back with us in the same flight. But she didn’t. Possibly, the two got into another flight. She did not tell anybody from the unit where she was headed.”

SRK throws a party for Hugh Jackman at his Bandstand bungalow

Among the main sights and sounds of India, like the Taj Mahal and the Pink City, Shah Rukh Khan’s Bandstand bungalow, Mannat, is almost always on the must visit list of Hollywood stars.

This time Khan opened his doors for Hugh Jackman and his wife. Previously, SRK had thrown bashes for Gerard Butler and Akon.

Karan Johar, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey and Kajal Anand also came for the party which started around 2 am.

After sharing the stage with Jackman and Vidya Balan, Khan left for his Don 2 shoot. Meanwhile Jackman was partying at Four Seasons Hotel with Karan Johar. SRK asked them to continue the party at Mannat instead.

A source tells us, “Jackman bonded very well with SRK. They spoke about SRK’s RA.One.”

When asked if SRK screened the promos of RA.One for Jackman, the source said, “No, but Jackman had already seen them. He told SRK, ‘I saw them while I was watching the India-Australia quarter finals cricket match. And I loved them.’”

Jackman and his wife stayed at Mannat for an hour-and-a-half. The couple drove out at around 3.30 am.

Bobby, Suniel and Irrfan hosted a raunchy Pyaar Do Pyaar Lo party yesterday afternoon at Madh Island.

The venue turned into temptation island with alcohol, hot women and even a dance performance by bikini clad beauties.

The three leading men however, chose to remain unaffected, due to the presence of shutterbugs on the scene.

The dancers were supposed to perform with the three stars but the men were uncomfortable doing the jig in front of the lensmen.

It was only after the hot girls were off the stage that the actors felt comfortable and carried on with the party.

Priyanka defeats Ranbir in car race

Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor were seen racing their cars from Bandra to Juhu on Friday night. And guess what, Ranbir lost!

Priyanka was dining with Siddharth Anand (director, Anjaana Anjaani) and his wife Mamta at a Bandra nightspot when Ranbir joined them.

They decided to continue the party at a club in Juhu. This is when the boys decided to race the girls.

Ranbir, who is known for his midnight races with once best buddy Imran at night, drove his car with Siddharth in the passenger seat, while Priyanka sat in Mamta’s car.

And the girls won! Maybe, it was just easier for the men to focus with Priyanka ahead.
