Saas-bahu shifts base to Mira Road
0Far from the madding Andheri-Goregaon, dramaville has a new address – the distant but affordable Mira Road
Alka Shukla (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 13, 2011)
At Mira Road, in the midst of an unending cavalcade of trucks on the highway, a slew of under-construction towers, dozens of builders’ hoardings persuading readers the suburb is not really that far, and a cluster of factories at Penkar Pada, the last thing you expect is a dash of glamour.
But inside one of the decrepit structures, you are greeted not by the drone of heavy machines but spot boys and lightmen moving shooting equipment and production vans.
The town, considered the last resort way into the ’90s, is now on television.
Separated from Greater Mumbai by a marshy creek, the suburb was just fields until the late ’70s. Even in the late 1990s, it was primarily two large townships Shanti Nagar and Naya Nagar with a few others just emerging.
Now, in 2011, when the population here has crossed the 10 lakh mark, it is fast becoming the small screen’s big location.

Himesh’s gal mutes him out?
0The two lovers have parted ways
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 03, 2010)
All is not well between Himesh Reshammiya and his lover TV actress Sonia Kapoor. Sonia is no longer a regular at Reshammiya’s flat in Sky Heights, Lokhandwala. Sources say that the two lovers have definitely parted ways.
Sonia and Reshammiya were dating each other since 2006. A few months ago, there was even talk of how Sonia goes back to her flat in Castle Tower, Oshiwara, and plays Reshammiya tracks at deafening decibels, annoying her neighbours.
A source, on request of anonymity, told Mumbai Mirror, “Since the past two months, Sonia is not seen in our building anymore. Pehle woh roz dikhti thi. Sonia and Reshammiya are now just friends.”
According to the report that broke Reshammiya’s extra-marital affair, his parents and wife Komal had no objection to the dalliance; they had accepted the fact and welcomed Sonia to their family. Reshammiya and Sonia even went on holidays together. On New Year’s Eve, they travelled to Sri Lanka. He also used to take care of all her expenses and had been recommending her to all his producer and director friends. The couple had even been spotted going for a spin the hood in Himesh’s Merc.

Vishal-Ruskin – An unusual BOND
0Hindi film director Vishal Bhardwaj and Anglo-Indian writer Ruskin Bond make for an unlikely working pair. But they think the world of each other
Anubha Sawhney Joshi | TNN (THE TIMES OF INDIA; August 22, 2010)
It’s not everyday that you hear Ruskin Bond sing. “But I was so bored and irritated with Mumbai’s traffic, I really considered breaking into song just to clear the cars,” says the 76-year-old Mussoorie resident only half in jest. The writer made the trudge from Colaba to Oshiwara to meet friend and fan Vishal Bhardwaj, who has based two of his films (The Blue Umbrella and Saat Khoon Maaf) on stories originally written by Bond. But more on that later.
“I’m a really bad singer but I quite enjoy singing. As a young man, I was fascinated by opera and would subject people to my baritone and tenor,” he says. But egg him on to sing and he surprises you with a song nowhere close to opera. Hawa mein udta jaaye, mera laal dupatta malmal ke.. err.. ka, Bond croons, sitting in the music room of Bhardwaj’s office. The music director nods approvingly.
Getting this duo together in Mumbai is a rarity. “But I’m happiest meeting Ruskinji in Mussorie,” says Bhardwaj, adding that he’s bought the house next to the author’s and they now share a wall. They actually share more than that. Both love the mountains. And enjoy a story well told, preferably over a couple of stiff drinks.
So who’s the better storyteller? “He is,” both say in unison. More >
Aditya Narayan moves out of Udit’s house; wants to create his own identity
0Nothing is permanent in Bollywood. Udit Narayan’s son Aditya, who will be making his debut with Vikram Bhatt’s Shaapit soon, has moved out of his father’s house. Apparently he doesn’t want to be associated any longer with his father – all is definitely not well.
Our source said, “Everything was fine till Aditya started shooting for Shaapit. In fact, Uditji had even come for the first day’s shoot. Now Aditya has bought himself a house in Oshiwara and is staying there. He has categorically told his father that he wants to create his own identity and told him not to interfere with his career.”
Aditya NarayanVikram Bhatt, the director of Aditya’s film, said, “I can’t comment on the father-son relationship as I am not aware about anything amiss. His father called me after he saw the promos and I am sure he is very happy for Aditya.”
But Aditya Narayan didn’t mince words. “I don’t want my father to promote me. I have my own house and studio and I want it to be my solo effort. He has brought me up but I have always taken my own decisions, be it the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa show or Shaapit.”
Asked why his father is not seen by his side these days, Aditya said, “He was present on the sets on the first day of the film. Why would I want my father to visit my sets everyday? He helped me take a More >
Ranvir-Konkona marriage called off?
0
One of the steadiest relationships in Bollywood has gone kaput. Rumour has it that the four-year-long relationship between Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey has hit a rocky patch and that that their impending wedding, which was to be held in December, has been called off. The couple was living together at Oshiwara, Andheri. A source said, “Konkona and Ranvir had been going around for quite some time and they were extremely serious about each other. Despite their hectic work schedule, Ranvir would make sure that he was always present wherever Konkona used to shoot and similarly, Konkona would always make time for Ranvir.
Everything was fine between them and they had also finalised a December wedding. However, something went wrong and the marriage has been called off, at least for the time being.”
“There is definitely something wrong between the two and there is a big question mark over the status of their relationship. No one is aware except a few close friends and immediate family members as to what exactly led to the break-up. Both Ranvir and Konkona love their privacy and this is precisely why they never spoke about their relationship even while they were seeing each other all these years. It is highly unlikely that they will speak about their break-up,” added the More >
