Mommy, help me stalk Asin!
0Desperate fans often resort to desperate measures but this particular one should go down in history. For many months now, Asin has had an obsessive admirer called Samuel keeping close track of all her moves.
And Samuel is no ordinary fan. From trying to follow her to her shooting schedules to getting her attention on the Internet, Samuel has been persistent.
Says a source close to Asin, “This person tried getting her phone number from Asin’s business manager. When he failed, he pleaded he just wanted to talk.”
Failing this attempt, Samuel did the unthinkable. He put his mother on the job. And she agreed to help him too! Says the source, “She started calling Asin’s business manager, saying that her son wanted to marry Asin. With time, this too failed. But Samuel didn’t give up.”
Samuel convinced his mother to send one last SMS to Asin’s manager saying Samuel is critically ill and wants to meet Asin one last time. The message read, “Samuel is critically ill (sic); he spells out your name every time he wakes up. Kindly do us a favour of seeing him one last time before anything happens.” Thankfully, Asin didn’t comply with that.
Says the actress, “If he was a genuine fan he wouldn’t harass my staff this way.” But necessity is the ‘mother’ of invention.
Saif replaces Ajay in Aarakshan?
0After Ajay Devgn walked out of Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan, Saif Ali Khan has taken his place.
Incidentally, Ajay had some issues with Jha over the role he was playing in the film that also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpai and Deepika Padukone.
Our source said, “Ajay Devgn and Jha have worked together in three films back to back. However, this film won’t have Ajay.
After Ajay walked out of the project, Jha was in a fix, as he had to sign a replacement soon for the film’s shooting schedule was supposed to start in February, next year.
Thankfully, Saif, whose film Two States did not work out, had bulk dates to spare. So he was roped in.
Saif plays a complicated yet a vital character in the film.” However, both Prakash Jha and he remained unavailable for comments.
Ranbir livid with ‘ex-girlfriends’
0Deepika and Sonam lovingly ripped him apart on national television; the casanova is still smarting
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 23, 2010)
Ranbir Kapoor might be a ladies’ man, but his ex-girlfriends, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor, have made some comments on KJo’s Koffee With Karan which have not gone down very well with the Kapoor lad.
Our source said, “The two girls who were said to be at loggerheads over Ranbir Kapoor till some time ago got along like a house on fire on Karan’s show.
Incidentally it seemed that both of them had an axe to grind against Ranbir Kapoor. Both the girls had one common talking point, which was Ranbir.
However, after watching the show, Ranbir is obviously not very happy and has been saying that both these girls nicked him on national television.
Incidentally, Deepika said that she would gift him a pack of condoms while Sonam said that he needed a better stylist. Both the girls also rated him very low on sex appeal and constantly hinted about him being unfaithful in a relationship.
Ranbir felt that the girls went overboard and they should not have spoken about him like that on a TV show.” Ranbir has been linked to Sonam since Saawariya days; his relationship with Deepika ended on a less palatable note with her accusing him of infidelity.
The source further said, “Ranbir is shooting for Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar in Delhi and his displeasure was very evident on the sets of the film. It did make for More >
Sanju in Satte Pe Satta remake
1Raj Sippy’s 1982 classic will be remade with Sanjay Dutt playing Amitabh Bachchan’s role
Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 23, 2010)
It was one of Amitabh’s most adored hits. 28 years later Satte Pe Satta, itself an adaptation of the 1954 Hollywood musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, will now be remade with Sanjay Dutt playing the lead role.
We can’t wait to see Sanju Baba as the pack of a rowdy bunch but, ahem, Soham Shah, of Kaal and Luck infamy, is to direct the film slated to go on floors in April next year and expected to release next Diwali. Shah better have an ace up his sleeve. The remake has been titled Satte Pe Satta Phir.
Sanjay Dutt Soham ShahOur source said, “This is one film that many producers wanted to remake. Raj Sippy who directed the original also wanted to remake the film and had titled it Seven. He had also spoken to Sanjay Dutt about playing the lead role in his remake. Similarly, Sohail Khan also wanted to remake the film with Salman playing the lead.
But Sohail dropped the idea later. Ashtavinayak then spoke to Sanjay Dutt, who happens to be very close to Raj and Romu Sippy, the original producers of the film and later bought the rights. Soham was roped in later.”
When contacted, Dhillin Mehta, Chairman and Managing Director of Shri Ashtavinayak said, “Satte Pe Satta is a cult film. The script of the film is so interesting that it has stood the test of time.

0King Khan is now on the mend with many of his fractured relationships. Mumbai Mirror counts his ‘frenemies’
Vickey Lalwani and Mauli Singh (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 23, 2010)
The saying goes: you’ve got to be careful about who all you offend on your way up because these are the same people you will meet on your way down. What this means in Shah Rukh Khan’s context is gradually coming to the surface now.
Yesterday, we told you that Shah Rukh called up Sanjay Leela Bhansali and mended fences with him, praising his latest film Guzaarish.
The latest is that King Khan apologised to Sunil Gavaskar close to two weeks ago, at a sports awards function. After lashing out at Gavaskar in 2009 for his comments on the Kolkata Knight Riders’ coach John Buchanan, Shah Rukh made an extra effort to mend his differences with him.
Says an eyewitness, “When Gavaskar came up on stage, SRK politely told him that whatever had been reported had been misconstrued by the media, that he respects him very much and loves him for the several honours he has brought to the country.” And Gavaskar apparently smiled and told SRK that things often get blown out of proportion.
We agree. But Mumbai Mirror gives you a tell-it-as-it-is account of King Khan’s attempts at patching up with friends he almost lost.

Anil ditches Tom for Bachchan!
0Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; November 23, 2010)
To keep his date with Amitabh Bachchan in KBC’s hot seat yesterday, Anil Kapoor left poor Tom Cruise hanging! The story goes that Anil, who is now the new global Indian star, was shooting Mission Impossible 4 in Dubai. And no sooner was the shoot done, than he took off for Mumbai, ditching Cruise and the customary bonding session that happens when a film is completed. Anil is promoting his forthcoming Bollywood film by Anees Bazmee and one such promotional activity had him opposite Bachchan — his one-time big industry rival. Naturally, he was anxious to keep that date at any cost. Doubly so because Anil himself has played the role of the quizmaster of the same show in Danny Boyle’s Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. And it is this role that opened Hollywood’s doors for him. So Anil told Cruise and the cast of MI4 his dilemma. And the Hollywood superstar and everyone else made sure that their schedule wrapped up as per Anil’s requirement. Anil told BT, “I had to rush from the set to the airport to be back in Mumbai in time because I was really looking forward to shooting with Amitabh Bachchan.”
Rani teams up with Aamir again
0Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; November 23, 2010)
Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerji are back — five years after they shared little screen space in that box office dud Mangal Pandey and 12 years since their blockbuster Ghulam. Several attempts to get the two superstars on board all these years had been made, but failed. Now the long wait comes to an end with Rani teaming up with Aamir for Reema Kagti’s forthcoming film in which he plays a cop. The sizzling 3 Idiots jodi of Aamir-Kareena is also making a comeback in this film.
Rani’s inclusion is interesting. Bollywood was under the impression that the actress, who was delivering back-toback hits with Shah Rukh Khan, would never be able to land an Aamir (SRK’s biggest industry competitor) movie again. But strangely, Rani is not so chummy with SRK anymore because she is thick with his foe — Salman Khan!
Reema’s film is being co-produced by Aamir, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani and Rani and Kareena have been confirmed to play major and equally significant roles opposite Aamir in this untitled suspense thriller. Pre-production work is on in full swing and the film’s scheduled to go on the floors for principal photography in March 2011. Producer Ritesh of Excel Entertainment confirms the news saying, “It’s going to be exciting to see Aamir, Kareena and Rani coming together for the first time on screen.” prit...@timesgroup.com

Chittagong Uprising teenagers inspire Ashutosh, Abhishek
Prithwish Ganguly | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; November 23, 2010)
You’re sure to have met people who crib about what’s not correct in India but aren’t willing to take responsibility for setting things right. That’s what Ashutosh Gowariker’s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, presented by PVR Pictures and releasing on December 3, will compel audiences to think with its storyline ringing with patriotic fervour.
The film is about a group of 56 teenagers influenced by freedom fighter Surjya Sen (also called Master da) who put their lives at risk to fight for freedom and become a part of India’s biggest revolution – the Chittagong Uprising. At 13, these kids decided to walk the path of self-sacrifice knowing that they might even be killed.
BT asked Gowariker and Abhishek Bachchan – who plays Surjya – what they did for the country when they were 13. Abhishek said he was “filled with patriotism and willing to do anything and everything” for the country. While Ashutosh was more into community projects that would benefit his neighbourhood. “I was a conscious human, cleaning my locality, giving clothes to the underprivileged – small things that make a difference,” said the filmmaker.
He was amazed to read about the patriotism of the Chittagong Uprising children. “They were prepared to die for their beliefs. I think they were totally determined to bring a change and free their motherland,” said More >
Rani Mukerji refusing to judge in DPL?
0All is not well on the sets of Dance Premier League (DPL). The show’s celebrity judge, Rani Mukerji is so flustered with the format of the show that she stormed out of the sets on Tuesday, November 17. The incident happened at a studio in Chembur.
Furthermore, Rani has curtly asked the show’s producers, Cineyug not to make her resume her position as the judge until her demands are met.
Commenting on why Rani is so upset, a source said, “Rani doesn’t want the DPL participants to be eliminated starting this level (Level 5). She is of the opinion that the DPL winner must be chosen from the existing participants.”
Consequently, the channel and the DPL producers Cineyug are in a fix. They are in no position to abide by her diktat as the show has already completed more than 60 per cent of its running time. Also, the format of the show cannot be changed overnight as it will involve a lot of planning.
The vice-president of the channel, Danish Khan, said, “We are only interested in the final product. Cineyug, who make this show for us, will be the right people to talk to you about this.”
Mohammed Morani of Cineyug confirmed the story and said, “I was out of town when Rani walked out of the show. I don’t know why Rani doesn’t want eliminations to happen at this level. We have reached Level 5 in the show and need to carry out the More >
Akshay speaks on Tees Maar Khan
0Akshay Kumar clears the air about why it’s okay for Farah Khan to sign him and not her favourite actor Shah Rukh Khan for Tees Maar Khan
By Subhash K Jha (MMUBAI MIRROR; November 23, 2009)A lot of eyebrows have been raised as to why Akshay Kumar and not Farah Khan’s favourite actor Shah Rukh Khan has been signed for her next directorial venture, Tees Maar Khan.
Reacting to rumours of having taken over from Shah Rukh Khan in Farah’s cinema, Akshay says, “Yes, I am doing Tees Maar Khan. I have known Farah and her husband Shirish Kunder for years. I have worked with her husband in his first film, Jaan-E-Mann and with her brother Sajid Khan twice, (Heyy Babyy in 2007 and yet-to-be-released Housefull). So Farah and I are very close. There’s nothing so shocking about me doing her film. We make 180 films and there are just 10 heroes. Every hero has enough work.”
Akshay admits that he’s playing a character called Khan in Tees Maar Khan. “But you’ll have to ask Farah whether the film was written for Shah Rukh. I play a con-man, a real smart-ass. Tees Maar Khan will be an out-and-out commercial film. Shirish has written the film. He had directed me in Jaan-E-Mann, a film I liked even though it didn’t click. As soon as I complete Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha, I start with Tees Maar Khan,” he adds.
