Mirror watched as he revisited his iconic act from Amar Akbar Anthony for Bol Bachchan

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 9, 2012)

May 9, 2012. For others this may have been just another sweltering Mumbai summer day. But for the crew of Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan, this was surely a day to remember. For the first time, Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan and superstar Amitabh Bachchan were coming together for a shot. And we got a dekho of the memorable song being picturised at Film City.

A set was created on the 16th floor of the studio. The unit was abuzz with activity. After all they had three stars in their midst. The choreographer Chinni Prakash was busy directing Amitabh Bachchan’s entry sequence in the song.

Reminding us of the famous track in Big B’s 1977 blockbuster Amar Akbar Anthony, there was a big egg on the sets. Dressed in black, the superstar was asked to take his seat in the egg. And just like the My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves number, the egg turned and the Big B came out of it.

By then, Ajay Devgn, who was feeling a bit unwell, had already left the sets. Abhishek too had shot for his portions and called it a day. But director Rohit Shetty and choreographer Chinni Prakash were busy doing their bit with Amitabh Bachchan.

And that’s not all. It will be the first time Ajay Devgn would lend his voice to a song in his career spanning 20 years. The track composed by Himesh Reshammiya will also have the Bachchans singing. Interestingly, the Big B will be singing some of More >

Nikhil Dwivedi talks about his dream role, fav films

By Satish Sundaresan, April 27, 2011 – 11:14 IST

Nikhil Dwivedi is someone who does not fall in to the typical synonym of the typical tall, dark, handsome Bollywood hero. He is someone who can rightly be called as the ‘Thinking Man’s Actor’, for he is not just artistically oriented but academically as well… as he holds a dual MBA degree, wherein, one MBA stands for ‘Masters in Business Administration’ while the second stands for ‘Masters in Bollywood Acting’.

Armed with films like My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves and others, Nikhil is someone who is surely a name to watch out for in the days to come, for his stellar and much-talked about performance in the flick Shor In the City. Satish Sundaresan of Bollywood Hungama caught up with this actor wherein he talks all about his dream role, his favourite movies and his take on Mumbai. Over to you, Nikhil!

SRK’s friends are now Salman’s pals

0

Sharin Wader Butani | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; June 23, 2010)

Is everyone, who has had some problem with Shah Rukh Khan, trying to prove a point to the Bollywood Badshah by becoming pally with his friend-turned foe, Salman Khan? Riteish Deshmukh used to be his good friend till SRK replaced him with Arjun Rampal in Ra One. The friendship turned sour and Riteish is now seen hanging around with Salman.

Even Nikhil Dwivedi, who had solid backing from SRK in his first film My Name is Anthony Gonsalves, is nowadays singing praises of Salman who gifted the struggling actor a watch. Mushtaq Shaikh, who had written a coffee-table book on SRK, and who was constantly seen in his company, now drops by on Salman’s sets just to say ‘Hello Brother’. And Farah Khan, who earlier was the mainstay of King Khan’s camp, has shifted her support to Akshay Kumar and Salman now.

These are not the only ones from SRK’s coterie who seem to have found a friend in Sallu bhai. If sources are to be believed, then Sanjay Kapoor and Chunky Pandey, too, were recently spotted hanging around with Salman in Dubai and Colombo. Hope their wives, Maheep and Bhavna, won’t change loyalties and continue sticking to Gauri Khan like magnets. sharin.wader@timesgroup.com

WHEN FILMS DON’T GET A TIMELY RELEASE…

RAAT GAYI BAAT GAYI: Last week’s discussion of The Hangover brings to my mind another topic of the upcoming film Raat Gayi Baat Gayi (RGBG) which is all set to release on December 31. Presented by Percept, produced by Pritish Nandy and Rajat Kapoor and directed by Saurabh Shukla, RGBG stars Vinay Pathak, Rajat Kapoor, Neha Dhupia Anu Menon, Navneet Nishan and Dalip Tahil. The film was announced 2 years back in 2007 and it’s ready since a long long time. But due to some reason, the film which could have released earlier this year is now finally releasing (and anyways, when Percept is involved, then that film is bound to get postponed!!).

On the other hand, The Hangover released this year and took the world by storm. Unfortunately, RGBG’s plot is very similar to that of The Hangover. While The Hangover was a story of four friends going to LA for a bachelor party only to wake up the next morning and not remembering a thing, RGBG involves three men who attend a party with their wives and where they come across a sexy lady. The men get drunk and when they wake up next day, they couldn’t remember what happened after meeting the lady. So the amnesic angle is common in both of the films but the situations are drastically different.

However, RGBG is not a copy of Hangover as the script of RGBG was written way back and the shooting was also completed last year, some 7-8 months before Hangover released. But the damage is More >
