Imaad makes his musical debut

Producer Nameeta Nair is ecstatic with having discovered a new musical talent in actor Imaad Shah who is the son of the legend Naseeruddin Shah. Imaad, who has proved his acting prowess already, now makes his debut as music composer with Prawal Raman’s psychological thriller 404 presented by Imagik Motion Pictures that releases this month. Twelve years ago the same banner gave Pritam his first break. Namita says, “I have always believed in promoting all round performers who have their own identity. Imaad’s style of music is fresh, soulful and today’s youth will connect with it instantly. I believe he is going to be the surprise package of this year and is a gift to the industry.” 404 is set in a medical college and has newcomer Rajvvir Aroraa in the main lead. Director Nishikant Kamat (Mumbai Meri Jaan, Force) is seen here as an actor. The banner’s next film Ekaant slated for a release later this year is also targetted at Gen Y.

Konkona paired opp Rajeev?

Rajeev Khandelwal is all set to romance Konkona Sen in debutant director Neerav Ghosh’s film Soundtrack.

This musical comedy produced by Sa Re Ga Ma, has some similarities with the plot of Sujoy Ghosh’s Jhankaar Beats. Rajeev plays a musician in the film. A source reveals, “Rajeev is not playing a rock star like Ranbir is in Imtiaz Ali’s next film. Rajeev is playing a music composer and he sports a very interesting look in the film, which is currently being kept under wraps.”

Rajeev Khandelwal Konkona Sen

Apparently, Rajeev will be learning how to play some musical instruments for the film. As for Konkona’s role, the source adds, “Though Konkona is playing the female lead in the film, there is a second female character in the film and the producers are waiting to cast a relatively new girl for that part.”

Konkona was the director’s first choice, we are told. Rajeev refused to comment.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali the choreographer

Sanjay Leela Bhansali turns full-fledged choreographer for his next film, Heera Mandi, based on classical dancing By Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 03, 2010)

// // // Life has come a full circle for Sanjay Leela Bhansali. 16 years after he started his career in cinema directing the songs for Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 1942: A Love Story, he has once again choreographed an entire song in his forthcoming Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Bachchan starrer Guzaarish.

While he did provide inputs through a vital step here and a pirouette there in his various films, Bhansali has never fully choreographed a number in any of his earlier films, which had pivotal  dance scenes.

Incidentally, Bhansali has  also turned into a full-fledged music composer for Guzaarish.

While he became a music composer by design, choreography happened by accident.

A source close to  the director says, “It happened last week while he was shooting a dance sequence with Aishwarya. Sanjay wanted her to do an impromptu and spontaneous dance. Sanjay wanted it to look as if Aishwarya was not dancing for the camera.”

But the movements that the choreographer showed  them were somehow not working out. Sanjay found the whole effect too rehearsed and premeditated.

Adnan Sami’s 15-year-old son Azaan makes his debut as a music composer and singer for Bumm Bumm Bole starring Darsheel Safary By Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 02, 2009)

Adnan Sami is a proud father thanks to his son, Azaan, who is now following his daddy’s footsteps. Azaan is ready for his big Bollywood debut as a singer and composer. He has been signed on to sing for Darsheel Safary who plays the lead in Percept Picture Company’s forthcoming film, Bumm Bumm Bole.

A source said, “Shailendra Singh, MD of PPC, and director Priyadarshan were in the midst of a music sitting for Bumm Bumm Bole. Priyan told Singh that he wanted refreshingly different and inspiring songs, especially for the climax when Darsheel wins a race after facing a lot of difficulty. Shailendra, who had earlier heard Azaan’s voice and had loved it, suddenly came up with the idea of having him on board. Priyan too loved Azaan’s voice. He will sing as well as compose all the three songs in the film.”

Shailendra Singh said, “Yes, we have signed Azaan for his Bollywood debut as singer and composer. He’s barely 15 years old and his voice has a raw feel, which Priyan appreciated. Azaan’s music is quite inspiring and suits the uplifting mood of Bumm Bumm Bole.”
