I was scared about playing Osama-Pradhuman Singh
0Pradhuman Singh who played Osama in Tere bin Laden talks about his initial apprehension when he had to do the role, how he feels about Osama’s death and other movies he will be part of
Priyanka Dasgupta | TNN (MUMBAI MIRROR.COM; May 03, 2011)
The joke was not on Osama.. but on the war on terror, says Pradhuman Singh, who played the fake Osama bin Laden in Tere Bin Laden. He says even though the film was banned in Pakistan, most people watched it online.
Having played the fake Osama in Tere Bin Laden, what’s your reaction to the news of his death?
The battle has been going on for years. It was a battle between one country and a man. There has to be one winner and one loser. Now, it’s certain that the US has won. But all said and done, no one can shove down our throat the views about one particular person. Nothing is in white and black. It’s all grey. I am no one to judge whether Osama bin Laden’s stance was right or not. I can only offer my congratulations to the US. Yet, I must all add that this whole war has been going on for far too long. It’s not really worth it. There has been too much of infighting going on in Afghanistan.
So, many other countries, including Iraq, have faced the brunt of it all. Were you ever apprehensive about playing the character Noora in the film?
Initially, when I had not read the script, I was a bit apprehensive. I was wondering if it would be a biographical role. After all, Osama has been one of the most radical people in More >

Neil Nitin Mukesh on his contemporaries, Ranbir and Imran, on movies and the Friday jitters
Roshni K Olivera | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; February 23, 2011)
He’s not married in real life, but Neil Nitin Mukesh has emerged as one of the best husbands! Well, we are referring to the rave reviews the actor’s been getting for his performance as the mean crippled army officer in 7 Khoon Maaf. Neil, who’s done diverse roles, is constantly looking for challenges, he tells BT in a candid chat. Excerpts…
What prompted you to take up the role of Major Rodrigues, one of Priyanka Chopra’s many husbands, in 7 Khoon Maaf?
Vishal Bhardwaj is a director every actor wants to work with. The moment he called me, I just jumped and was sure that I wanted to be part of the film. I’ve read Ruskin Bond’s story and when I read my character, I instantly knew that there was a lot of scope for me; the character has so many layers. Everything just fell into place and I’m glad to be part of this film.
Being a part of a multi-starrer is less stressful because the reponsibility is shared…
In fact it’s not! It’s more stressful because you are among many and you have to make an impact for your performance to be spoken about. In a solo-hero film, all the attention is on you anyway.
So how do you cope with the Friday jitters?
Everyone feels a bit jittery, it’s only natural because billions will be watching you again. But I’m quite calm before my release… I believe what’s More >
Race 2 shoot pushed to Nov 2011?
0With Agent Vinod going through a serious delay, Race 2 has slid onto a slow track
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 03, 2010) Saif Ali Khan
The delay of Saif Ali Khan’s Agent Vinod has had a ricochet effect on Ramesh Taurani’s Race 2. Race 2, starring Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor and John Abraham, which was supposed to start in June 2011, will go on the floors only in November 2011 now.
Unable to shoot for both the films together, Saif informed Taurani that he needed more time before joining him on Race 2. “Saif has a very different look in both films, Agent Vinod and Race 2.
Hence, it would be impossible for him to do both these projects together.”
This has sent Taurani into a tizzy. “Since Race 2 is a multi-starrer, the dates of other actors will all have to be readjusted now. This is going to be a hell of a job.”
When contacted, producer of Race 2, Ramesh Taurani, put up a brave front in his customary style, “Aisa kuch nahin hai. Sab theek hai,” then added after a long pause, “I was supposed to start Race 2 in June. But now, I am starting it in July.
Ramesh TauraniThat’s pushing it by only one month.”
However, our source maintained, “Race 2 will not start before mid-November 2011.”
Sharman Joshi to play the lead in Ferrari Ki Sawaari
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, November 30, 2010 – 10:25 IST
After months of speculation on who will be playing the lead role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s next big production Ferrari Ki Sawaari, the verdict is now finally out and its none other than Sharman Joshi who has bagged the coveted lead role.
Sharman, it may be recalled, played an important part in Vidhu’s last production 3 Idiots which went on to become an all-time blockbuster. Industry buzz is that Vidhu Vinod Chopra has taken a bold decision by going ahead with Sharman for the lead role but the maverick filmmaker believes he has made the right choice.
Says Vidhu Vinod Chopra, “We have seen the screen test of Sharman Joshi, and strongly feel that he has understood the character and done a brilliant job in the screen test.”
Ferrari Ki Sawaari is certainly a big solo project for Sharman Joshi who has until now mainly made a mark only in multi-starrers. The film, which goes on floors in February 2011, is being directed by debutant director Rajesh Mapuskar (who has assisted the likes of Raju Hirani).

Emraan Hashmi in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Power?
0By Joginder Tuteja, October 8, 2010 – 11:26 IST
Has Emraan Hashmi joined the ‘powerful’ cast of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Power which is fast turning out to be the most star studded affairs of 2011? Well, that’s the gossip going around in the industry circles ever since Power first came in news close to a fortnight ago.
Says an industry insider, “Yes, there have been talks of Emraan making an appearance in the film. Though the actor doesn’t do too many multi starrers, he did give the film a close hearing when he was approached for it. Rajkumar Santoshi is a huge name and his ensemble starrers can prove to be a huge draw. Also, Emraan too has opened up more after the smash success of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai which was a two hero project. He too feels that it isn’t bad after all to bring in that occasional multi starrer in his profile.”
Well, if Power stars Emraan, it would indeed turn out to be a casting coup of sorts with people across all generations being a part of this Firoz Nadiadwala biggie. While Amitabh Bachchan heads the star-cast, veteran actors like Sanjay Dutt and Anil Kapoor bring in over 30 years of working experience each. Ajay Devgn is at the peak of his career after being around for 20 years and Emraan Hashmi being established in his own right completes the picture. Kangna Ranaut, Ameesha Patel and newbie Lekha Washington bring on the glamour quotient hence making Power a powerful experience.
However, the man in the question – Emraan – diffuses More >
Sanjay Gupta planning a multi-starrer next
0By Taran Adarsh, August 31, 2010 – 08:31 IST
//
// ]]> Here’s a quick clarification about Sanjay Gupta’s next film. A section of the media has reported that the maverick film-maker is planning to remake a Spanish film, which is expected to star the Deol brothers – Sunny and Bobby – in principal roles. The news is partly true, partly false.
Partly true: Gupta is remaking a Spanish film. But the other part of the news – the casting – is completely wrong. The fact is that it’s a four-hero project and Gupta hasn’t signed anyone as yet. “I haven’t signed Sunny or Bobby. We are still scripting,” he sets the record straight. The truth is, Gupta will start the film early next year, after the Meghna Gulzar film, produced by him, is complete.
As far as the casting of Gupta’s film is concerned, there’re whispers that he is planning to cast Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Arjun Rampal in principal roles. Awaiting the official confirmation from Gupta.

It would be difficult to break the bad boy image-Emraan Hashmi
0Emraan Hashmi talks about his likes, films and controversies…
SMITA ROY (BOMBAY TIMES; June 27, 2010)
He’s one of the few ‘chosen’ actors who always finds himself in controversy, just before the release of his movies. Ask him about it and Emraan Hashmi is quick in defence, “There’s never anything from my side. Maybe because I like the characters I play and always have some surprise element. Whatever I’ve done sets a tone apart. I like roles which are controversial and bring out the slightly crooked side of human nature.” But, he doesn’t really blame the media, saying, “I know exactly who I am and what I do. Sometimes it does hurt a bit when I’m projected as a person that isn’t me. I guess it’s to do with the kind of films I take up. But I have to deal with it and I choose to look through it. I concentrate on the ones written in a positive light. Everyone tries to play their cards safe, but it’s not necessary that you remain safe always. Yet, I believe that truth prevails over everything else, and sooner or later it does come out.”
With the recent controversy about his latest film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai holding similarities of its characters with real life people, Emraan is quite oblivious to it saying that he’s repeatedly clarified that his or anyone else’s character in the movie is not ‘inspired’ by anyone, spelling out what most disclaimers say before the beginning of a movie — “Any resemblance to a person, whether living or More >
Fenil’s Bollywood Talk # 95
0PRINCE V/S JKSAH! I am waiting for Prince since a long time chiefly because of Vivek Oberoi, an actor whom I really appreciate a lot. I was also the one who was invited for promo launch of the film which took place way back in November. The producers of the film, Tips, had their flick Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani releasing just 4 days later and we were tempted with the offer of getting free audio CDs of it if we attend! Assuming that the star cast of the film and many journalists and media persons will be present, I went for it. Also just a week before this, 3 Idiots promo launch had happened which was star studded and I expected something similar here too!
I reached at the scheduled time with a friend at Pixion Studios (Bandra, Mumbai). The only known face there was of producer Kumar Taurani. Star cast was missing and even the media guys due to some reason skipped the event! Then I realized that only aam aadmis were invited! We were taken in a small preview theatre and shown the promo. Then we were given a questionnaire as to what we liked or disliked the promo. A guy then approached and video shot our reactions (CHECK THE CLIP HERE! I m the 2nd guy, the one with specks!). That’s it! We then left. No one got Ajab Prem CDs as promised; the only thing provided was water!
But still it was a great experience. The promo was rocking and the preview audi had awesome reclining seats, very superior picture quality and sound system which no multiplex offers! In More >
