MF Husain, who was as well-known for his elaborate and colourful art as he was for his passion for films, beautiful women and fast cars, spoke at length about all of this and more in an exclusive video filmed this January in Kuwait.
Designer Pria Kataria Puri, who filmed the video when she met him in the Middle Eastern city earlier this year, has ambitious plans for the video. She filmed his poetry session and some of his candid moments, where he spoke about his vision of the world, his thoughts on humanity and tolerance, his love for life, food and beauty and how he missed his “Hindustan” after this self-imposed exile. She says, “He will be missed by art lovers and humanitarians the world over.”
The two last met for lunch at La Petite Maison in Dubai (his favourite restaurant) on April 22. Revealing how he stayed healthy, Husain said that because he walked barefoot for many years, all the pressure points on his foot got massaged and internal organs stayed healthy.
Secondly, he loved to eat but did so, sparingly as he believed that the lesser one ate in old age, the more active one stayed. Spending a lot of time with his family, she was witness to his love for hosting grand Friday lunches consisting of paya and kheema.
