Ram Sampath, best known for his compositions DK Bose and Switty Switty for the blockbuster comedy Delhi Belly, has been roped in for Ekta Kapoor’s Rock the Shaadi.
A source informed Mumbai Mirror, “Ekta Kapoor was very clear that she wanted a music director who could create fantastic Punjabi music for this film. She had heard Switty Switty from Delhi Belly and thought Ram could add great value.”
And apparently, post the success of Delhi Belly, the music director has been one of the most sought after in the industry.
The source told us that Sampath was offered as many as 11 projects, but decided to take on the music for Rock the Shaadi, as the plot of the film interested him.
When contacted, Sampath confirmed, “Ekta Kapoor wants me to create music that is funky and unusual and I am excited about it.”
The film, which will be directed by Navdeep Singh, stars Abhay Deol and Genelia D’souza.
It seems that the Mumbai police used director Ashish Shukla (creative head of Dev D) to set the precedent for what other filmmakers can expect, when they choose to shoot in public without the necessary permissions.
Reportedly, the director, lead actor Chandan Roy Sanyal and the rest of the Prague crew, who were shooting on the streets of Mumbai without availing for the necessary permissions, were apprehended by the cops and taken to Marine Lines Police Station.
A source from the unit informed Mumbai Mirror, “Chandan was stopped mid-way by a police vehicle, when they saw him riding a bike with a cameraman following him. When the police started interrogating him, they figured out that the film was being shot without permission.”
The source told us that Shukla, who was not at the shoot at the time, rushed to the scene to deal with the cops. “Chandan and the rest of the crew members were detained and taken to Marine Lines Police Station. Their equipments were also confiscated and they were made to wait for an hour. The cops paid a deaf ear to the explanations that Chandan gave them,” added the source.
When contacted, Chandan confirmed, “We started shooting at 6 am in the morning and had no trouble the entire day. It was only during the last shot of the film, when a police van stopped by. On September 29, Sudhir Mishra spoke to Mumbai Mirror to dismiss all the rumours surrounding his film Mehrunissa. The director also told us that he was focusing on his feature film Inkaar, which explores the issue of sexual harassment at the workplace.
A source informed us that the Viacom 18 Motion Pictures production, which stars Chitrangada Singh and Arjun Rampal, also features the debut of Sandeep Sachdev.
Sachdev, who lost 50.7 kg in four months, was the winner of the reality show Biggest Loser Jeetega in 2007. He then went on to participate in Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 4.
The source informed Mumbai Mirror that Sachdev will essay Chitrangada’s boyfriend in the film. “Sandeep was finalised for the role in September, after a series of auditions,” said the source.
The source added, “He has already started shooting for this film and Sudhir is happy with his performance so far.
When contacted, Sachdev confirmed, “It is true that I am doing the film and I have already started shooting for the same.”
