Chunkey Pandey celebrated his 48th birthday bash with his friends from the industry on Tuesday night. And when we called him up the next day, he finally answered at 5.55 pm and said, “Good morning, I have just got up.” The birthday boy hadn’t recovered from the night’s revelries. After all, Mirror found out that the bash went on till five in the morning. Hosted by his wife Bhavna, Chunkey’s birthday was a star-studded affair indeed. One of the first few people to arrive was Farah Khan. And then by midnight, A-list actors and filmmakers from the industry started pouring in. “Chunkey had no clue about this surprise party. He took his wife out for dinner at a suburban hotel that evening. After they came back home, he realised that something was afoot. And then the guests started pouring in. There was Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan, Arjun and Mehr Rampal, Karan Johar, Gauri and Shah Rukh Khan, Sameer and Neelam Soni, Goldie Behl with wife Sonali Bendre and even Karisma Kapoor, who incidentally arrived in a Rolls Royce,” said a source from the party.

Starting Tuesday, Hrithik, Arjun and their families will be on a 15-day holiday

The Rampals may be out of favour with a certain Khan. But by the looks of it, they still have enough friends in the industry. At least those they can vacation with. A source from a travel agency revealed that Arjun along with wife Mehr and daughters Mahikaa and Myra will leave for a 15-day trip to Bali on Tuesday. Joining them at the beautiful beach destination will be close friends – the Roshans.

Sources close to the actors revealed that Sussanne had in fact planned the trip. “Hrithik had been very busy with his Krrish 3 schedule. He wanted to take a break with his sons Hrehaan and Hridaan. Sussanne decided to include the Rampals as well since their children go to the same school and are close friends,” said the source.

Arjun too had been busy shooting for Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh in Bhopal. He had taken a few days off to attend an event during the Cannes film festival. “Both the Roshans and the Rampals are looking forward to this vacation. They want to just relax and spend some time with their families. The last few months have only been about work for both the actors,” added the source.

Surely, this is turning out to be Bollywood’s favourite holiday season. While the Bachchans are busy bonding with their Beti B in London, the Roshans and the Rampals are the latest addition to the list.

On Father’s Day today, Arjun Rampal tells BT why it’s such a joy being a father to his two daughters, Mahika (10) and Myra (7).

“Father’s Day is special because it’s a reminder that you are a dad. Ever since I became a parent, my entire way of looking at my own parents changed a lot. Fatherhood has taught me about unconditional love. My parents too must have loved me as unconditionally as I love my little ones. We get caught up in our lives and careers so much that we lose sight of how our parents were towards us. Any day which is about parents — be it Father’s Day or Mother’s Day — should truly be celebrated! I don’t just want to celebrate my parents, but also want to celebrate being a father to two beautiful daughters.

When Mahika was born, I can’t even begin to describe how I felt! I was overwhelmed and very emotional. All that macho-ness went for a toss. Tears started flowing out of sheer joy. When Myra was born, I was like, ‘OMG! She looks like Angelina Jolie with her pink lips!’ I know many dads change their babies’ nappies, but I stuck to my macho image and left it to my wife Mehr. Actor Arjun Rampal, who has been away for a long time from his family is finally heading back home. The actor, who was stationed in Madhya Pradesh since the past couple of weeks was shooting for film maker Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh with actor Abhay Deol.

The entire crew was shooting in Panchmarhi, in the interiors of MP, and the climatic conditions weren’t very conducive. A source from the sets reveals how difficult it was to shoot in Panchmari. “The temperature was always around 40 degrees and it was extremely difficult to shoot. Also the place where we were shooting did not have electricity for most part of the day. There also used to be no network so the entire crew was almost incommunicado for the entire stay there. But Abhay and Arjun were more than accommodating and shot under extreme conditions.”

Arjun who has been away for close to a month was missing his family after his trip to Cannes. The actor, who got a couple of days off to visit Cannes attended the film festival with wife Mehr. After Cannes, he immediately left for Panchmarhi to complete the pending work on the film. He had kept his fans on Twitter updated and recently posted, “10 days left for Chakravayuh to finish. The countdown begins, greetings from Pachmarhi.” Another of his tweets read: Guess the tiredness is getting to me now. Need a vacation, 2 more weeks for that. Grrrr”.

Joining the long list of names from B-Town to be in the elite list of Cannes Film Festival invitees is actor Arjun Rampal. The actor, who will make his debut on the red carpet, is all set to sashay down with wife and former supermodel, Mehr at the French Riviera.

Arjun, who is on a short break from his hectic shooting schedule in Madhya Pradesh for Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh, is currently in Mumbai, planning out the intricacies of his trip, where he’ll be representating a brand he endorses. He insisted that he will walk the red carpet only if wife, former supermodel Mehr accompanies him. “It was decided right from day one that Mehr will walk the red carpet with me. She had to. She will make me look good amidst people there,” says Arjun.

Arjun was earlier slated to walk on the opening night on May 16, but the date clashed with his shooting schedules. So he reworked his schedule at Cannes and will now be walking on the closing night on the 27. About the visit, the actor says, “It is a very big honour for me to attend the Cannes Film Festival. Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan might well be termed as the new Jai-Veeru in town.

Both the superstars have been bonding big time these days, attending each other’s parties and spending quality time with one another.

At the recently concluded award ceremony in Singapore, SRK made Hrithik miss his flight and party with him as he remembered that on Jan 14, exactly 11 years ago, Hrithik has made his debut with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Such love.

Our sources add, “Hrithik wanted to leave for India and his flight was booked. However SRK called him and told him that it was on January 14 that he made his debut in Bollywood. Since he had completed 11 years in Bollywood, it was time to party.

Hrithik Roshan will complete ten years of his marriage on December 20. The actor is planning a grand anniversary bash in Goa but no one knows the exact location yet; that’s a big secret.

All of Hrithik’s family members and friends will attend the party. No wonder people are finding it difficult to buy air tickets to Goa at this time of the year!

Our source said, “This will be Hrithik’s 10th wedding anniversary and he wants to have a blast. He is on an all-time high, professionally and personally. B-town bigwigs in fancy dresses at Hrithik’s Halloween bash

Now this was one B-town bash with a difference. Hrithik Roshan threw a party last night to celebrate the birthday of his wife Susanne and to make things a bit spicier, the theme of the party was Halloween. So you had a whole lot of B-town biggies dressed at their wickedest and wackiest in keeping with the theme of the evening. We bring you some of the guests who gave ‘crazy’ a whole new meaning with their irreverent dressing.

The one couple that stole the limelight with their costume was Arjun and Mehr Rampal. While Arjun was dressed as ‘The Joker’ from the Batman film The Dark Knight, Mehr complimented him by dolling up as ‘The Bride out to seek revenge’ from Quentin Tarantino’s cult classic Kill Bill.

• Were you expecting the National Award for Rock On!!?

An actor always hopes to get a National award but it wasn’t on the top of my mind that day. It was unexpected and before I could realise it, my phone started ringing incessantly and all my friends were at my place. I would like to celebrate again with the Rock On!! team after I receive the award on March 18. I have a club in Delhi and we can all party there (laughs). It will be wonderful. Whatever I have believed in has fallen into place.

• It’s said that this is your second innings. An actor doesn’t have a shelf life. Good talent in any profession cannot be kept down for long. Your talent is in the choices that you make. I think that I have made the right choices in working with like-minded people who work as hard as I do to get it right.
