Why Mausam got postponed to September 23
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, September 14, 2011 – 21:59 IST
All the speculations regarding Mausam‘s release getting delayed were put to rest by Shahid Kapoor today at a press conference held in Mumbai. The much awaited Shahid-Sonam starrer which was scheduled to release this week on September 16 has been pushed by a week to September 23.
Shahid who plays the lead in Mausam said, “The release date has been shifted to September 23. We needed a NOC from IAF and Censor Certificate. We got a ‘U’ certificate and then the board wanted to see the film once again. This consumed a lot of time delaying the release date. We have made the required changes in the particular 30 seconds scene”. The actor further added, “It was very important to announce this. Our team believes in our film and we feel that it is as authentic as it could be, we want to bring the best for our audiences.”
Shahid Kapoor also added, “I have seen the film yesterday and am really happy with it, I am excited and eagerly awaiting its release. Now we will have more time to promote the film and since there are no major releases in the next two weeks, Mausam will not face any problems.”
Mausam was facing some problem in obtaining the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Indian Air Force. The makers of Mausam had received a conditional NOC from the IAF. A special screening for the top IAF officers and heads was arranged in Delhi today. The IAF requested for a minor correction in a particular aerial action More >
Sp screening of Mausam for IAF officers in Delhi today

Pankaj Kapur’s maiden directorial venture Mausam starring Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor has been in the eye of a storm ever since the Indian Air Force (IAF) objected to a 30 second aerial action sequence. Even though the Censor Board for Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the film, the makers are yet to get a NOC from the IAF.
With the film’s release due on this Friday (16th Sept), the makers are in a spot of bother and have hence arranged for a special screening for the top IAF officers and heads in Delhi today. The screening will take place at FDA Mahadev Road, Delhi at 14:30 hrs IST today and in all probability both Shahid Kapoor and Pankaj Kapur are likely to be present.
Hope the special screening helps in sorting out the matter at the earliest.

IAF refuses to clear Mausam action sequence
0Demands changes in a fight sequence in the film’s second half. Holds back No Objection Certificate with just a week to go for the release
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 09, 2011)
Shahid Kapoor-starrer Mausam has run into rough weather with the Indian Air Force (IAF) barely a week before its September 16 release.
The IAF is unhappy with an action sequence involving six fighter planes, one of them commandeered by Shahid, in the second half of the film.
Air force has held back its No Objection Certificate (NOC) until the producers make the changes they have sought. However, producer Sheetal Talwar said this would not be possible at this late hour because it would require a reshoot and also affect the plot.
Unless the IAF grants this film an NOC, the Censor Board will not accept it for review.
Mausam was scheduled for screening before the board on Wednesday but the review was called off in the absence of the IAF’s NOC.
Talwar is flying to Delhi today to hold discussions with the IAF top brass all over again. “I will give them my perspective and the reasons why this alteration is impossible for us to carry out when the release date is upon us.”
While the IAF refused to discuss the details of their objection, spokesperson Wing Commander Gerard Galway said the change they sought was minor.
“We have objected to only about 30 seconds of the film. Pankaj Kapoor has otherwise done a wonderful job of portraying an IAF officer and the entire movie is authentic.”

Promos of Mausam stuck due to ‘passing cow’
0By Bollywood Hungama News Network, September 3, 2011 – 14:48 IST
Reportedly, the promos of Shahid Kapoor starrer Mausam are in the eye of the storm. The reason? One of the trailers has a shot of a cow passing by in one of the frames. This ‘passing’ has apparently resulted in the trailers not being cleared by the board. The Censor Board has now asked the Mausam producers to obtain clearance from the Animal Welfare Board.
The film’s producer Sheetal Talwar, who is ready to obtain permission for the same, is also enraged at the same time. He was candid enough to accept the fact that any shot of an animal in a film has to be cleared by the Animal Welfare Board. For which, he also cited the permission that was sought for his last film Rakht Charitra, in which they had obtained clearance from the Board for random street dogs that wandered into the frame. What he fails to understand is that, for one passing shot of a cow in the frame, why are all the other teaser trailers being held back.
Meanwhile, Pankaja Thakur, CEO of the Censor Board, said that JP Singh, the Regional Officer (Mumbai) has examined the promos, and has cleared all the same. She also added that, besides this, the Animal Welfare Board’s NOC (No Objection Certificate) is required in order to show animals on screen.
Further details are awaited.
