Genelia Deshmukh

Actress Genelia Deshmukh has put to rest all speculations about whether she will get back under the arclights or not after marriage, by signing up as the host for a TV show.

Does that mean she has decided to stop her big screen outings, especially when her last film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya with husband, actor Riteish Deshmukh was a hit? “Not at all, I am reading scripts right now and am also completing the shoot of my film Rock The Shaadi,” informs the actress, who is open to Bollywood as well as South films.

The reason, Genelia took up the TV show, The Chosen One is because she doesn’t have any films on hand right now, which makes it easier for her to concentrate on the show.

“TV entails a lot of time, and it helps that I don’t have 10 other appointments, else it would have been hectic,” says Genelia who in the past had hosted a reality show.

Also, since her show is about mentoring and preparing contestants interested in venturing into Bollywood, her connect with filmdom will continue with various film personalities making an episodic appearance. The best part according to her is that she can relate with the contestants as they are in her age group. “It’s fun interacting with them,” smiles Genelia.

And for those interested in knowing whether the actor went on a honeymoon with her hubby Riteish, she informs that they spent a lot of time together travelling. “It was a well-deserved break as I have been working More >

Vidyut Jamwal breaks silence on his relationship with Mona Singh

A reluctant Vidyut Jamwal finally opens up about his relationship with TV actor Mona Singh

Upala KBR (BOMBAY TIMES; February 28, 2012)

Vidyut Jamwal, who made his film debut as the negative lead in Force, has been dating TV actor Mona Singh for a while now. The couple met through common friends over a year ago and have been inseparable since. After much prodding, the model-turned-actor opens up to BT about Mona and his personal life.

Are you single? No. I haven’t spoken about my personal life so far, but I have never hidden the fact that I am dating Mona for two reasons. I am not shy about talking about my personal life, but I have waited for nine years to enter Bollywood. I want to focus on my career, be known as Vidyut Jamval and have my own identity. I don’t want a headline saying “Vidyut is X’s boyfriend”. I don’t want Mona’s parents to feel uncomfortable reading such things.

So you’re in love? Yes, I am in love. It’s impossible for someone like me to not be in love. I love being in love. This is the first time I am publicly revealing that Mona and I are dating. I tell everybody that she is the person I am with, but I don’t want people to gossip about it. When I go out for dinner or a movie, I go with her. I don’t hide in a corner around her.

People think you are hiding the relationship because you don’t want it going public. Let people think whatever they want. My friends and family know about it and that’s all that matters.

After a grand engagement, Mahhi Vij had a quiet wedding. Here she talks to Roshni K Olivera about life as Mrs Jay Bhanushali

BOMBAY TIMES (February 25, 2012)

Mahhi Vij, best known as Nakusha from Laagi Tujhse Lagan, had been dating actor Jay Bhanushali for a long time. There were talks of the two being secretly married too. But then they had a lavish engagement ceremony last year putting to rest all rumours. And just when everyone was wondering about their wedding date, we got to know that Mahhi and Jay had tied the knot. So when did it happen? And why was it so low-key, we ask the petite actress. Excerpts from the interview…

So Jay and you are married? Yes, we are.

When did you tie the knot? And why such a low-key wedding after a grand engagement? We got married this year, and it was a court marriage with just our family present. I had a big engagement ceremony and I got my chance to wear a lovely ghagra and jewellery. After working continuously for two years, I have just lost all patience and I didn’t have any patience to go through a reception! So we decided to keep it low-key.

Jay was okay with it? Yes, he listens to me (smiles).

Is it the same even now after marriage? Yes it is. He is a good husband.

And what about you? I give myself 100/100 as a wife. Now that I’m at home, I have been taking good care of him… his food, his gym routine etc.

On the work front, are you hoping to get back soon? Sure, if I get a good show. Though I doubt if anything can beat More >

Wants to spend more time with husband after marriage in February,

Neha Maheshwri (BOMBAY TIMES; November 21, 2011)

Neha Marda will soon bid adieu to Colors’ Balika Vadhu, the show that made her a household name as the strong-willed Gehna. The actress is tying the knot with Patna-based businessman Ayushman Agarwal on February 10, 2012 followed by a month-long honeymoon in Australia. Marda wants to spend time with her new family, hence the decision. Confirms she, “I did not want to quit Balika. It is one of the top-rated shows and quitting is not a good decision but I have my priorities set, which is my husband and my new family. It’s an arranged marriage after a courtship of nine months. I want to explore my relationship with Ayush. Coming back immediately to the grind of daily soap seemed impossible. Being a Marwari, I will have to participate in a lot of rituals post marriage. I want to savour my marriage, travel and explore our relationship.” When the actress broke the news to her production house, it took everybody by surprise. The unit of the show, though happy for her, tried their best to dissuade her from quitting. “Amongst my co-stars, only Smita Bansal is aware of this development, as she has been very close to me. I have been in discussion with the production house since September. They kept persuading me to continue and that they would manage somehow but I had to take the decision. My mother-in-law too doesn’t want me to quit the show.” Marda says she will More >

Shabbir Ahluwalia-Kanchi Kaul to wed in November?

But the two actors are trying to keep the news under wraps. Neha Maheshwri finds why

BOMBAY TIMES (October 9, 2011)

After dating each other for over two-and-a half years and keeping their relationship closely guarded from the media, actors Shabbir Ahluwalia and Kanchi Kaul have decided to take their relationship forward. Shabbir will tie the knot with sweetheart Kanchi on November 27 this year and the rituals for the same will commence from November 24. A sangeet ceremony is to be held on the 24th of this month. While Shabbir is half Catholic and half Punjabi, Kanchi is half Bunt and half Punjabi. So, in all likelihood, it is expected to be a Punjabi wedding. On the work front, while Shabbir is currently doing a serial, Kanchi has not been seen in shows for a very long time now.

Meanwhile, the two have started extending the invitation to their close friends but the couple is still tight-lipped about their wedding and is keeping it under wraps. They have never been open about their relationship, however, choosing not to speak even about their wedding comes as a surprise. We tried contacting both Shabbir and Kanchi, but they chose not to reply. We wish the couple a happy married life!

Shveta Salve on matters close to her heart

Deepali S Dhingra (BOMBAY TIMES; October 8, 2011)

If Shveta Salve’s been missing from the social circuit for some time now, it’s because the actress likes to take a break every once in a while. “I took off to Thailand for a bit. I love living like a gypsy!” says the actress, who was recently seen as an emcee at a do during Paris Hilton’s visit to Mumbai.

Known for her dancing skills, Shveta recently shot for an item number for Vikram Bhatt’s new film. “It’s a beautiful song in Sunidhi Chauhan’s voice and it has an Arabic feel to it. I had a blast shooting for it!” she says.

Meanwhile, there’s buzz that Shveta’s been offered the lead role in the play Kennedy Bridge. “Talks are on. They are trying to revamp the play at the moment,” she admits, unwilling to divulge much at this stage. “But, yes, I am a theatre girl! My love affair with theatre started in my college years where I did a lot of backstage work,” she states.

Her professional life apart, there’s lots happening on the personal front too. The actress, who recently got engaged to Harmit Sethi, a director with an event management company, says she’s in a happy space. “The next step is marriage, but we haven’t decided on any date. Maybe by next year sometime,” Shveta signs off.

Kalki Koechlin bares her heart on marriage, her husband and life post the wedding

Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; May 5, 2011)

Kalki Koechlin leaped at the chance to say ‘I Do’ to her long-time live-in partner Anurag Kashyap when he formally proposed to her. The reason – he is a ‘complete romantic’, a trait she Kalki digs. The two got married on April 30 in Ooty and Kalki tells all in a candid chat, where she shares details of her romance with the reserved filmmaker, the real Anurag as she known him, and how her work will never take a back seat even though she is now married. Excerpts from the interview…

What made you think that Anurag was the man? • It’s really an instinct thing. But we got to spend a lot of time together as we were living in, and I discovered that Anurag is a complete romantic. I really like that. He is spontaneous, creative and intelligent. I have always been drawn to creative and intelligent people. I connect easily with them. So, Anurag and I clicked instantly and since then it’s been great. Now, we are starting another chapter in our lives. I’m really excited and grateful to God that I’m sharing my life with a man like him. He understands me, he is caring and loving and respectful to people. You really need these qualities in a man. Again, we connected very well even creatively. So, I think we had to come close to each other. It was predestined (laughs).

So, you are saying that the marriage of minds happened More >

Kashyap, Kalki to marry on Apr 30 at Ooty

Here’s the andar ki khabar on Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin’s low-key shaadi

Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; April 25, 2011)

The date’s out! Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actress Kalki Koechlin are tying the knot on April 30 in Ooty. And why Ooty? Because Kalki has an attachment to the place. Her parents have a farmhouse there and she had grown up in the hill-station after the family shifted from Puducherry (Kalki’s birthplace).

“The marriage as well as the reception is happening in Kalki’s home there, which is in the middle of nowhere. So, no one can really track them down in Ooty. Anurag and Kalki both are very private people and they did not want any media glare at their wedding. They are leaving town today (Monday) and are going to switch off their phones too. They have invited just 40 of their close friends for the marriage. Only a few are from the industry. It is really that low-key as far as the Bollywood brigade is concerned,” reveals our source.

The informer adds, “It is going to be a full South Indian wedding. Anurag and Kalki are tying the knot at around 11 in the morning on April 30 and a reception for the family and friends will be held the same night, at the same venue. The food that is being served is also going to be South Indian. Kalki has looked into the menu herself and it has a few dishes that both Anurag and she drool on.” When contacted, Kalki only said, “Yes, the information that you have is true.” More >
