Check out Priyanka Chopra’s hot item song in Zanjeer 2.0
1Ram Charan dropped from the item song, now 100 (yes, one hundred!) male dancers will be seen grooving alongside the actress
Subhash K Jha (DNA; May 8, 2013)
The impact of Priyanka Chopra’s first item song in Shootout At Wadala was diluted, thanks to Sunny Leone. Moving on, she’s not taking any risks. She is hell-bent on getting her song in Zanjeer right. We hear the lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed had to go for a second round of refurbishment.
Says an insider from the project, “Initially Priyanka was very sure she wanted non-suggestive lyrics and movements. But then the words came out a little flat. So the lyrics had to be livened-up without losing their innocuousness. We finally zeroed in on these lines Mumbai Na Dilliwallon Ki, Pinky Hai Dilwaalon Ki. Priyanka felt this was saucy but not suggestive. And we went with that. No one is allowed to call it an ‘item song’ because Priyanka wanted the number to be free from implications of commodifying women. It is called a special song.”
We hear the song, which was shot over the last four days in Mumbai last week, has been given an added boost. Keeping it vulgarity-free, Priyanka wanted, in the words of the source, the lyrics and movements to be “free of flab but nonetheless fab”. The brief during the shooting of the song to choreographer Ganesh Acharya was to make it bigger, bouncier, brighter than Katrina’s Chikni Chameli. But without the pelvic thrusts, heaves and aggressive gyrations.
A tall order. The format of Priyanka’s ‘special More >
Wiccan priestess meets Pranab Mukherjee; complains about Ek Thi Daayan
0The President refers Ekta’s film to the Women’s Commission based on a petition by Ipsita Roy Chakraverti
Soumyadipta Banerjee (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 4, 2013)
Ekta Kapoor has often happily courted controversy to promote her films, but this time her strategy may have backfired. Balaji had sent a cordial invitation to Kolkata-based self-proclaimed Wiccan priestess, author and social activist Ipsita Roy Chakraverti, asking her to be a part of Ek Thi Daayan’s promotional campaign. Not only has Chakraverti refused to be a part of the drive, but has taken offence with the way witches are allegedly portrayed in the film. She met President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday, and convinced him to refer the matter to the National Women’s Commission chief Mamta Sharma.
Sources confirmed that the commission has taken up the case as a “matter of national interest” since the recommendation has come from the President’s office and Balaji will soon receive a notice.
Mirror has got copies of emails exchanged between Balaji Telefilms Ltd and Ipsita, as well as a copy of the petition forwarded to the President in which Ipsita states that the film will incite violence against women and “lead to further witch hunts which are already rife in our rural areas”.
“I met the President at 7.15 pm at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Tuesday with my petition. I explained to him why such a film should not be released in India. I reasoned that the portrayal of witches in the film supports the age-old prejudice of burning More >

Filmfare Awards: Khan takes big 3
0…but Udaan stole everyone’s thunder at the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010
Meena Iyer | TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; January 30, 2011)
The Khan charisma was on display again. Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan picked up his 14th Filmfare Award for Best Actor in his home production My Name is Khan; while his costar in the film, Kajol, stayed up way past midnight to pick up her trophy as Best Actress. SRK also dazzled the audience with a magical dance performance with one of his favourite ladies, Madhuri Dixit, before switching loyalties to the ladyin-black. The superstar said he would dedicate the award to his daughter, Suhana, who has been unwell. “My children love it when I win awards,” he said. “And, of course, I love it most of all.” Karan Johar bagged the Best Director Award for MNIK, a film that he co-produced with SRK. Karan wept holding the 3.5 kilos trophy. It had taken him 12 years to woo back this snooty black lady for his directorial skills. After taking a bow at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in May last year, Udaan stormed the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010 by winning seven trophies. This heartrending story of a young boy who takes flight after being forced to face his disciplinarian father’s angst, while growing up in a small town in Northern India, made its producers Sanjay Singh and Anurag Kashyap and director Vikramaditya Motwane proud by picking up seven awards. The film won awards for Story and Screenplay, Background More >
