Ab Tak Chappan 2 shoot has been put on hold for the past few days as the actor has malaria

Amrapali Sharma (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 15, 2012)

The sequel to Ab tak Chappan being produced by Ram Gopal Varma has once again hit a rough patch.

Mirror has learnt the film’s shoot has been put on hold for the past few days with Nana Patekar being ill. Last week, the actor complained of mild fever and returned home from the sets. Later on, he was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with malaria. Nana confirmed the news and said, “I am feeling extremely weak. I have got malaria and was admitted to hospital. I was discharged on Monday and returned home. I am hoping shooting will start in a few days.” It is learnt Nana is on medication and has been advised rest for some time.

Ramu however downplayed Nana’s illness saying, “It’s a mild fever. The shoot has been halted for just two days.”

This isn’t the first time Ab tak Chappan 2 has run into trouble. Originally, it was to be directed by Sahil Saple, who staged a walk-out on hearing Nana Patekar would be directing the film. Nana too donned the director’s hat but only for some time, later declaring he wanted to concentrate on acting only. Eventually, Ramu passed on the baton to Ejaz Ghulab who has directed the stunts of Department.

We’ve learnt the first look of the sequel will be released with Department on May 18. Meanwhile, the unit has finished the Mumbai schedule of the shoot and will be heading to Goa More >

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, November 15, 2010 – 16:38 IST

It’s an important week for Hrithik Roshan as his big film Guzaarish releases this Friday (Nov 19) but as luck would have it, Hrithik has fallen ill. The actor has been unwell for almost ten days now with high fever and body ache and it’s reported that he is suffering from malaria.

In spite of having high fever, Hrithik continued with the promotions of Guzaarish all of last week. He shot for a special episode of Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in Mumbai, and then even travelled with co-star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for a promotional tour to Dubai and London. After his return to Mumbai, Hrithik even travelled to Ahmedabad on Saturday to promote his film, but crashed immediately after returning home.

Since then, Duggu has been feeling very weak and been on bed rest for most of the time. In fact Hrithik even cancelled his trip to Kolkata for the promotions, as there was no way he could travel in this condition.

We hope the actor is back to being his fittest very soon and wish him a speedy recovery.

By Subhash K. Jha, November 11, 2010 – 11:52 IST

The exclusive idea for Karan Johar’s next directorial venture is finally in place, thanks to his unscheduled time off due to a sudden bout of malaria.

Because of the illness, Karan had the time to ponder deeply over what he wants to direct next. After months of a mental block, Karan has finally zeroed in on the subject that he wants to take on next.

And here’s the arresting news: after My Name Is Khan, Karan will direct a full-on fun film filled with music and songs…lip-sync songs which were missing in Khan.

Weak but back with his sharp tongue, Karan says, “I suppose out of every setback some good is bound to happen. So yes, that elusive idea for my next film for which I had even taken time off to be in New York but came back empty-brained, is finally locked in.” Karan has decided to make a complete departure from the mood of his last film My Name Is Khan. He will now make a full-on masti musical with at least 10 songs.

Says the excited director, “I don’t think I should be talking about it so soon. But I can’t help it. Yes, after a serious film like Khan, I am moving into the fun zone. I am doing a fun-and-frolic film. I don’t care if ‘frolic’ is too frivolous a word. That’s what I am doing in my next.”

Significantly, Karan’s next is going to be full-on musical. Says the director, “In My Name Is Khan, I couldn’t have my protagonist singing on screen. Though I’m very proud of its songs, I somehow feel deprived More >

Karan Johar’s illness has put a cloud over Shah Rukh’s birthday celebrations. The star who turns a year older today (November 2) has never celebrated a single birthday in the last 15 years without his friend.

Says a very close friend of both SRK and Karan, “No matter which part of the world Shah Rukh is in, Karan makes sure he joins his friend for his birthday. Shah Rukh just doesn’t feel this birthday should be celebrated without Karan.”

Shah Rukh Khan flew to Rome from Berlin with his son and nephew (wife Gauri’s brother’s son) only to find out that his buddy and producer-director Karan Johar was missing from the event at the Rome International Film Festival, where My Name Is Khan was to be screened.

Sleepless and jetlagged, Shah Rukh was suddenly told he had to handle double the number of media interviews he was originally scheduled to do.

Says a source, “Suddenly Shah Rukh was asked to also handle all the press that was lined up for Karan. As it is Kajol could not be in Rome because of her baby. On top of that Karan suddenly fell ill. The My Name Is Khan co-producers and worldwide distributors’ Fox-Star thought of cancelling all the press and just go with the screening of the film. But Shah Rukh insisted on doing all the press by himself.”

Vijay Singh the CEO of Fox-Star Studio is wonderstruck by King Khan’s proficiency. “Karan’s inability to attend the International Film Festival at Rome was a setback. More >

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 01, 2010)

Karan Johar’s plans of holidaying with best friend Shah Rukh Khan in the streets of Berlin have gone for a toss. KJo is bedridden, supposedly down with malaria. Yes, the city doesn’t spare anyone.

A friend of Karan Johar’s told Mumbai Mirror, “He is very disappointed. An illness at this point was the last thing he wanted.”

On Friday, Karan was apparently very excited about this trip, while speaking to the media at a press conference organised at a suburban five-star hotel. Karan was heard saying, “I am flying to Berlin. Shah Rukh and I will fly together to Berlin to spend his birthday (November 2) with his family and close friends, which is me.” Thanks for reiterating but no one doubts that Karan!

Adds Karan’s friend, “The doctors have advised him to take complete rest. They have strictly told him not to travel for a few days. KJo has no option but to obey them.”

When contacted, Karan’s official spokesperson said, “Yes, Karan is not going to Berlin. He is down with suspected malaria.” Hope you sent some flowers over, Shah Rukh?

The pretty actress, who is currently in London shooting for Sajid Khan’s Housefull, is down with malaria since the last four days.
