I am in the best phase of my life-Lara Dutta Bhupathi
0Lara Dutta DNA
By Sneha Mahadevan (DNA; April 19, 2012)
Actress Lara Dutta Bhupathi has taken to her new role — of a doting mother rather effortlessly.
The actress married to tennis ace, Mahesh Bhupathi, gave birth to a baby girl in January this year has managed to knock off a few kilos, within three months of her daughter’s birth, and is looking radiant. The actress is currently enjoying taking care of baby Saira. She says, “I am definitely in the best phase of my life, personally and professionally.”
Lara, who turned a year older on 17 April, had a fun-filled birthday with her newborn and quite understandably, it was a special one.
“I love birthdays. Normally my birthday celebrations, between my friends and family, stretch into days, and this year was no exception. The celebrations started on the night of April 13 and carried on right up until the 16th night. I was thoroughly spoilt and feel extremely blessed to be surrounded by so much love, kindness and goodwill. It was also wonderful because Saira was the first one to wish me at midnight,” gushes the actor.
Lara is all praise for her hubby Hesh, who never shirks his daddy duties despite a hectic schedule. “Mahesh is a born father and his daughter is his greatest priority. Being an Olympic year, it’s an extremely busy time for him, but whatever time he has off it’s his family that comes first for him before everything else.”
Besides her baby, Lara was in the public eye when she recently stepped out in her More >
Raveena Tandon to star in Neerav Ghosh’s next
0By Subhash K. Jha, October 6, 2011 – 00:42 IST
After co-producing the well-received Chalo Dilli, Mahesh Bhupathi has now moved on. His next production will be an independent production and that too with Raveena Tandon in the lead.
The comedy that Bhupathi will produce with Raveena in the lead is being described as a “Delhi Belly without the expletives but still with the anything-goes mood speed and dialogues.”
The film goes on the floors later this year and will be directed by Neerav Ghosh whose debut film Soundtrack featuring Rajeev Khandelwal as a deaf DJ, is on release.
Neerav’s film that Bhupathi has asked Raveena to do is an absolute antithesis.
Says a source, “Mahesh has known Raveena for the longest. When he read Neerav Ghosh’s script he fell in love with it. It’s madcap zany crime caper comedy and requires a housewife as its main protagonist. Mahesh and his director thought Raveena was perfect for the part. Raveena who has never done a full-on comedy was not too sure to begin with but Mahesh and Neerav convinced her. And also, Raveena’s other heroine-centric film Sudipto Chattopadhyay’s Shobhana 7 Nights got pushed forward a bit, hence Raveena agreed.”
The crazy comedy would also feature Boman Irani and Aditya Panscholi.
Refusing to comment on the project, Raveena said, “I’m getting very interesting offers. This is a very important time for women actors in Bollywood. We have Vidya Balan doing The Dirty Picture, Bebo (Kareena Kapoor) in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine. I More >

Lara, Vinay talk about Chalo Dilli
0By Devansh Patel, April 29, 2011 – 14:44 IST
Mention two words and let’s see what names pop up – chalk and cheese. Or let’s put it this way: business and pleasure. Anyway you look at it, the names Lara Dutta and Vinay Pathak pop into mind, thanks to the big hoardings of Chalo Dilli spread across the city and the capital, I’m sure. Comedians have always had a tough time building a long-term career in cinema. For a start, as genuinely funny scripts from Bollywood are few and far between, they’re usually forced to draw on their own well-worn routines and, after a few pictures, begin to bore their audience. No matter how brilliant, no actor can keep carrying movies by sheer weight of his or her personality. Hera Pheri, Golmaal and Bheja Fry are the only three names in the last two decades one can recall when it comes to making a laugh riot. Will Chalo Dilli succeed the previous three? It’s been a tough day. My brain aches. The sofa looks inviting. I need a pick-me-up that requires zero effort. I need to laugh and I’ve just seen Chalo Dilli yesterday at the Empire studios. Guess its repeat time. My verdict? Chalo Dilli confidently diverts its audience into having a mindlessly fun time and is a wholesome trip for sure to a mature comic bliss. Got that? If not, divert your ears, mind and eyes to the funniest bones sitting right in front of me: Vinay and Lara, lovingly known as, Bhai saab and Behenji.
Lara: Chalk n Cheese? Hmmm. They say don’t mix business with More >
Chalo Dilli: The odd balls
0Lara Dutta and Vinay Pathak bring back the unusual pairing in Bollywood with their ribtickling movie Chalo Dilli
Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; April 29, 2011)
Small films with good content have been winners at the box office. Remember Bheja Fry, Dev.D, Band Baaja Baaraat, No One Killed Jessica, Phas Gaye Re Obama? Lara Dutta and Vinay Pathak starrer Chalo Dilli, with its solid script, is certainly looking to prove the same point when it opens in theatres today. The film with its heartwarming, situational comedy has already created a buzz in the industry because it also brings back the concept of unusual pairings.
Director Shashant Shah says, “It’s the freshest new pairing that one has seen in the recent past. When you see them, you smile.” Producer Krishika Lulla says, “We are happy with the feedback that the film is receiving. It is very Indian and rustic at heart and I’m sure audiences will love it.” Vinay adds, “Audiences are definitely helping the industry to make such films. If there was no audience, they wouldn’t have been made.”
Producers Mahesh Bhupathi and Lara, who have tied up with Eros International for their maiden production, are excited that they are dishing out a “realistic, typically Indian travel experience like never before” to the audiences. But Lara maintains that their film should not be slotted in the road film genre. “It’s a film that follows the journey of two characters whose paths cross due to some twist More >
