M F Hussain seems to be spoilt for choice. Mumbai Mirror previously reported how the controversial painter has got a new muse in Anushka Sharma.

He also wanted to paint a portrait of the actress. Apparently Hussain is back to wooing Amrita Rao, his former muse. According to our sources, Hussain has invited Rao to stay at his grand home in London.

A few years back, Hussain was bowled over by Amrita after he saw her film Vivah and went on to praise her saying that she defines Indian beauty, coming a close second to Madhuri Dixit.

Our source said, “Amrita has received an invitation to visit Hussainsaab in London. Her family has also been invited.

Hussain requested them to stay with him for a few weeks and he wants to play the gracious host. It will be a great escape for Rao from the sweltering summer of Mumbai. Hussainsaab has always maintained close ties with Amrita.

The buzz is that he is keen to show Amrita his work on the Mughal-e-Azam series at K Asif’s son, Akbar Asif’s penthouse in London. Hussainsaab has also created a painting of Rao as Anarkali performing to the iconic song Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, inspired from her earlier performances at an award show; which he can’t wait to present to the actress.

Hussainsaab is also planning to host a grand screening of More >

MM.com has an exclusive chat with Amrita Rao and finds out why the quintessential girl-next-door has decided to turn herself into a glam diva, her artist-muse relationship with painter M F Hussain and, of course, relationships

Varun Vazir | MM Online Bureau (May 04, 2011)

Amrita Rao

Actress Amrita Rao has been keeping a low profile for a long time. After a long time, her next film Love U…Mr Kalakaar! releases on May 13. The girl with an infectious smile, Amrita Rao who played a role of a girl next door in a series of films like Vivah, Ishq Vishk and Shikhar confesses that she has transformed into a glam diva. Excerpts:

Why have you been keeping a low profile all this while?

(Laughs) It was never a conscious effort. I did not have a single release in 2010 as I was filming for Love U…Mr. Kalakaar!. I was affected by the recession in 2009 and two of my big projects did not take off. One was AB Corp Ltd’s film directed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi (of Pinjar fame) The Legend Of Kunal and the other was Ken Ghosh’s romantic film with Neil Nitin Mukesh. I am in the news only due to my movies; I don’t make news of my personal life.

Tell us something about your character in Love U…Mr. Kalakaar! I am excited about doing a role that is completely different from what I’d done in my last Rajshri film, Vivah. I play Ritu Diwan, a young management trainee who is finding her own space in her father’s business. She is a Mumbai girl who is young, vivacious and More >

Amrita Rao is in a long-distance relationship with a certain Neil Kulkarni, an NRI orthopaedic surgeon based out of San Francisco

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 26, 2011)

The rumours that suggested Amrita Rao was dating Shahid Kapoor can safely be put to rest.

Yes, Shahid has had Priyanka Chopra as his ladylove for quite long now but here’s the other side of the story. Amrita has been in a long-distance relationship with an NRI from San Francisco.

Our source said, “Amrita was once in the news for being artist MF Hussain’s muse. Later, Bollywood was always abuzz with rumours about Amrita dating different men but most of the rumours fell flat after a point of time.

But this time she seems to have finally found love. Amrita has been dating a certain Neil Kulkarni, an NRI orthopaedic surgeon based out of San Francisco.”

In August, last year, the actress was in the midst of her Rajshri Production shoot for Love You Mr Kalakaar in San Francisco.

She also participated in promoting a charity event there, during which she apparently met Neil.

They say, Amrita’s aunt introduced the two and also told her that he would be the perfect guy for her. Kulkarni works for one of the top hospitals there. According to sources, he too was quite smitten by Amrita.

The source added, “Amrita has tried hard to keep her personal life under wraps. Though it is a long-distance relationship, both Amrita and Neil are trying their level best to keep the romance More >

Vidya to go nude for MF Husain?

0

BOMBAY TIMES (February 12, 2011)

If buzz is to be believed, Vidya Balan might be immortalised in the nude by the ‘Picasso of India’, MF Husain. Reports are doing the rounds that the 95 plus painter, who recently accepted the citizenship of Qatar, is keen to paint Vidya in the buff on his canvas. Husain, who has previously been smitten by Madhuri Dixit, Amrita Rao and most recently, Anushka Sharma, put in a special request with Vidya.

Vidya, who is steadily climbing the sensuality charts, what with her brazen portrayal of a voluptuous vixen in Ishqiya and playing southern sex siren Silk Smitha in her next film, titled Dirty Picture, has reportedly not responded to Husain’s request as yet.

However, in previous interviews with BT, she divulged that “Husain saab” finds her “very sexy”. “He told me that he watched Ishqiya 12 times just for me. I was extremely flattered. I think his stroke is so sensual; he’s probably the best judge of sensuality. I hopefully will be immortalised not just through one medium but two (a film and a painting!)” she had once told us. Vidya, who was on a flight, could not be reached for comment.

The artist has watched Band Baaja Baaraat eight times and could watch it once more. He wishes to meet the actress personally and make a painting of hers as well

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 29, 2011)

M F Hussain’s latest muse is Anushka Sharma and surprisingly, this has happened post the release of Band Baaja Baaraat.

After watching the film, the artist apparently showered her with praises and he now wishes to make a painting with her. And that’s not all. They say the artist also wants to invite her to Qatar so he can meet her.

Our source said, “After Madhuri, Tabu and Amrita Rao, Hussainsaab finds Anushka extremely charming. He wants to make her painting and name it ‘Punjab Ki Kudi’.

He wishes to meet her personally. Hussainsaab has already watched Band Baaja Baaraat eight times.”

And given a chance, the artist would want to watch it again.

When contacted, Anushka’s spokesperson said, “Yes Hussainsaab has been showering Anushka with compliments.

M F Hussain

But we have not had a direct dialogue with him so far. A well-known film critic did get in touch with us saying that Hussainsaab is extremely impressed with Anushka.

Once we contact the artist, we will think of the next course of action. We have so far not received any invitation from him directly. This is something that cannot be kept under wraps.”

Earlier, Hussain had made Gaja Gamini with Madhuri Dixit and Meenaxi-A Tale of Two Cities with Tabu. But he could not make a More >

Ash dances for the Astad!

MAKING THE RIGHT MOVES: Aishwarya Rai and (left) Astad Deboo. For more pictures of the actress, visit http://photogallery.indiatimes.com

— SUBHASH K JHA TIMES NEWS NETWORK (BOMBAY TIMES; July 27, 2009) Astad Deboo, that contemporary and modern Indian classical dancer, has been lured into the deep jungles of Athirappilly, Kerala, by filmmaker Mani Ratnam to teach the lovely Aishwarya Rai Bachchan some new steps. Ash, who is shooting for Mani’s Raavan with hubby Abhishek Bachchan, is required to do a climactic life and death dance sequence for which the Padma Shri fusion dance choreographer was specially called in. The actress, of course, is as graceful as can be when it comes to dancing on screen (remember Nimbuda from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Kahin Aag Lage from Taal?), and choreographers from Saroj Khan to Shiamak Davar have raved about her professionalism when it comes to taking instruction. Now it’s Astad’s turn. This is his first experiment with Bollywood, though he did agree to lend his supple creativity to M F Husain’s Meenaxi before. According to a source, Astad’s chosen a tandav of passion, retribution and redemption for Ash, because Mani wanted a fusion of kathak, ballet and contemporary dance. The steps are intricate and new and Ash has to dance barefeet on slippery and unsafe ground. Moreover, she has to do the steps twice over and in quick succession, first with Abhishek for the Hindi version and then with Vikram for the Tamil version. More >
