Govinda does puja at Indore temple to kickstar Narmmadaa’s B-Town career?

It’s been several years that Govinda’s daughter Narmmadaa has been waiting in the sidelines to have her much- talked- about entry into Bollywood. And now we hear that the actor specially flew to the famous Maheshwar temple, 90 kilometres from Indore, on Tuesday evening, to offer prayers for the success of his daughter and son Harshvardhan.

Sources say Govinda had earlier booked the puja through the Dayalu Mitra Mandal, a religious organisation in the temple town.

Hemant Jain, president of Dayalu Mitra Mandal of the temple says, “Govindaji wanted to visit the temple for a religious ceremony. He spoke to me through a common friend from Mumbai. In fact he was to come around a month back but he could not make it then.” However, this time the actor made sure he made it to the temple and a priest by the name of Alok Purohit conducted the puja for him.

Govinda apparently remained at the temple for about 40 minutes and even received a souvenir from them. Jain adds, “He just said that he wants his kids to do well in life. He is a complete family man and is extremely concerned about his family.”

Waiting for too long?

Those close to the actor have often voiced how Govinda has been quite concerned about Narmmadaa’s long wait. Earlier there were even reports that Govinda had a tiff with Salman Khan as the latter was supposed to launch Narmada which did not ultimately materialise.

Later on Narmmadaa was scheduled to make her debut finally with More >

Kareena-Lovely drift apart due to misunderstandings created by common friends?

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 16, 2013)

Ironically, while friendship has been an abiding theme in Hindi films down the years, real such alliances don’t seem to last very long in the industry. The latest being Kareena Kapoor and producer Lovely Singh, once known to be the best of buddies, no longer share the same camaraderie.

It’s been a while since they drifted apart but neither of them has come out in the open, till now. “Things are not the same between Kareena and me. We are not much in touch. I guess we are both extremely busy with our work,” Lovely said when quizzed by Mirror. After a pause, he added, “If you really wish to know anything further, let me tell you I was not even invited for her wedding.”

Asked what drove them apart, Lovely refused to divulge details. However, we spoke to sources close to the duo and found that a few common friends had managed to create misunderstandings between them.

A source close to the Kapoor family revealed: “Even Kareena’s mother Babita did not approve of Lovely. She felt he was beginning to wield too much influence on her decisions about her life and career.” Apparently, that’s when Kareena started distancing herself from Lovely and this upset him since it was he who stood by her when she parted ways with Shahid Kapoor and went through a particularly low phase.

The change in equation had one more fall out. Lovely’s brother, Rahul Singh, who used to manage Shahid’s work, was forced to leave the job because of the More >

How Palande killings have affected Oshiwara’s filmis

By Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; April 28, 2012)

Until the time a certain Simrin Sud got embroiled in the crime of the year, it was an address that the residents were proud of. But the stellar residents of Oberoi Springs on Link Road, Andheri, are being subjected to a curious form of profiling post Karan Kakkad’s murder by Vijay Palande.

Members of the film industry fill up most of the flats in the three wings of the complex. And they include veterans, outcasts and even those with no more than a toe-hold in filmdom. Imtiaz Ali, Chitrangda Singh, Vipul Shah, Aneez Bazmee, Sherlyn Chopra are just some of the names you will find at the foyer leading to the towers. And while they may not exactly be on excellent neighbourly terms, they are now bound by a common refrain – life has become very difficult, they say, for their guests as they are subjected to severe scrutiny by the cops stationed at the gates and the security gaurds. It is embarrassing they complain, for the esteemed guests and family members to be subjected to such grilling even before they can step inside the complex.

A filmmaker, who lives in the A-wing said, “Ever since the case exploded, our society is teeming with cops. Even on Friday afternoon, the cops were at B wing. Till Wednesday, the complex was buzzing with the media people. And now security has been beefed up, causing inconvenience to the visitors.”

Interestingly, the security seems to be especially tight for tenants from the film industry. More >

Tushar Joshi (BOMBAY TIMES; March 1, 2012)

She’s managed to keep her love life under wraps for a long time, but now BT has chanced upon photos of Shazahn Padamsee at a recent art fair, holding hands with someone who looks like he’s more than just a good friend. A close friend of the actress reveals the man in her life is Vinod Khanna’s nephew, Akhil Kapoor.

Says the source, “Shazahn and Akhil have been seeing each other for a while now. However, she’s very guarded about her personal life and doesn’t like talking about him. They met at a common friend’s party and hit it off instantly.” Akhil, who is an aspiring actor, will be seen in Lovely Singh’s film Tutak Tootak Tutiyan, opposite Govinda’s daughter Narmada Ahuja.

When contacted, Shazahn refused to comment on her relationship with Akhil.

Narmadda, Vijendra Singh to debut in Manchali

By Subhash K. Jha, March 14, 2011 – 11:39 IST

Govinda finally admits that his daughter Narmadda is being launched in April. Though he declines from divulging the film’s name, it’s called Manchali. Earlier there were several false starts to the pretty girl’s launch. Govinda is so very excited about his daughter Narmadda’s debut that he’s eager, willing and determined to play any role that is offered to him in the film.

“I’ve told the film’s makers that I’m at their service for anything that they need. Bhai beti ka sawaal hai. Hum beti wale hain. Whatever is required I’ll do. I’m willing to play even a small role in Nammo (Narmadda)’s debut film.”

Apparently, the director Lovely Singh is now modifying the script to accommodate Govinda in the role of his own daughter’s father.

The father is of course enormously superstitious about Narmadda’s debut as he has every right to be. She has waited for almost three years for things to start moving ahead for her career.

When contacted, Govinda initially tried to conceal his daughter’s debut plans saying nothing has been finalized. A little later he called back to say it’s all in place and that it happened in his absence.

“I had only heard the first draft of the script. I was in Gujarat. I’ve just returned. So I wasn’t aware that Nammo heard the full script and loved it. Her co-star is boxer Vijender Singh who’s a good-looking chap. Nammo and Vijendar make a good pair…and you can’t blame me for being protective about her More >

Tusshar Kapoor held a special Singles bash on Valentines Day (Feb 14) for all his single friends and cast and crew of his forthcoming release Shor In The City. The highlight of this bash was a special drink called the ‘Shor Shot’ prepared by Tusshar himself.

The Indian boxing champ and Narmada will make their debut together

TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; February 16, 2011)

It is a known fact that the 26-year-old Olympic boxer champ Vijender Singh Beliwal from Haryana, is keen on an acting career. He has been undergoing training in martial arts, horse-riding, Bollywood dancing and has even hired a leading PR agency in Mumbai to handle his portfolio. Narmada, the attractive daughter of Govinda has also been waiting in the wings for her Bollywood screen debut.

Narmada was considered for the same role as Sonakshi Sinha in Dabangg; obviously that was not to be. Reliable trade sources say that filmmaker Lovely Singh who made Kya Love Story Hai (2007) is going to be directing the internationally renowned boxer and the star-kid in a subject that Lovely has contributed to.

Sources indicate that it will be a film with a love story at the core. However, Lovely refuses to give out any details on the project. Our source says, “Lovely flew up North to meet Vijender and finalise the details.” If this film comes through the way it is planned it will be a coup.

I have had many ups and downs in my personal life-Tusshar Kapoor

Tusshar Kapoor on why comedy is not his only forte, on why he is still single, and how an obsession with trade magazines is turning him into a producer

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 08, 2010)

Golmaal 3  is doing well. However it seems you are yet to see the film.

Yes, I am getting a lot of sms-es and positive feedback especially about my emotional scene, thanks to Rohit Shetty. However, I am yet to see the film. I am flying to New York tonight, so will catch the film there.

Y ou seem to have found your calling in comedy. How is it that you don’t get different characters?

Kya Kool Hai Hum was a comedy but people remember Golmaal. I did Khakee and I started with Mujhe Kuuch Kehna Hai. Then I did Shootout at Lokhandwala. However now I have four different films coming up next year so I guess people will see me in different characters and not just comedy.

Is it also because of your image of a good boy that you don’t get different character?

I don’t think so. I was offered Mission Istaanbul and even Bullet Train but they didn’t happen. Sometimes I have not liked the roles and in this country there are very few good negative roles so one has to wait for a long time.

A film like Darr happens once in years. Next year I have a good mix of films. Run Bola Run is a comedy. Love You Mr Kalakaar is a romantic film with the Rajshri banner. Then there is Shor, an offbeat film, and Hum Tum aur Shabana, a subtle and up-market comedy film.

Tusshar and Kareena gang up against Lovely

0

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRRROR; October 28, 2010)

The Director Lovely Singh will remember his recent trip to Hyderabad for some good reasons, but more importantly, some very unpleasant ones.

When he landed up on the sets of Golmaal 3 in Hyderabad to meet his friends Kareena Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor, Lovely was oblivious that the two had planned to gang up against him.

Later that day, both Kareena and Tusshar told Lovely that the hotel he was supposed to stay in, was haunted.

That night, minutes before falling asleep, Lovely found two `Nimboos’ on his bed. The next day, he found blood in his toilet. And on the third day he started hearing weird noises, like that of a girl crying.

Only later did Lovely realise that these were all pranks and that Kareena and Tusshar had planned them.

A petrified Lovely said, “I could not sleep for three nights. Even Ajay Devgn teamed up with Tusshar and Kareena. The worst was when they hid a walkie-talkie behind the AC that made weird noises.” Wait, that’s not been mentioned; are you sure there was a walkie-talkie Lovely?
