By Joginder Tuteja, April 2, 2011 – 10:26 IST

A hot-shot professional when it comes to the world of advertising, Abhinay Deo is not new to going behind the camera. Boasting of 14 years of experience when it comes to advertising, making a full length feature film was an obvious next step for Abhinay. His Game has just released and naturally, Abhinay is looking forward to reactions for his first ever big screen outing. In a conversation with Joginder Tuteja, Abhinay talks about what went in his mind when he started working on the film.

A slick action thriller with a suspense drama to match – Is it just the right kind of recipe you wanted to put together for Game? Yes, though I would prefer to get the ‘suspense’ part earlier in the statement (smiles). It is basically a suspense film with action, thrills and drama following a little behind. Basically I wanted the genre of whodunit to be back in Bollywood.

I am sure you would have been inspired by the 60s when such films were in vogue both in Bollywood as well as Hollywood. Exactly. Think whodunits and remember Teesri Manzil. Obviously I too was influenced as a child. In fact there have been so many incredible murder mysteries that have originated out of Bollywood. I wanted to bring it all back in a fresh new packaging. This is where styling and cutting edge treatment came into picture. As for action, Game doesn’t have it in abundance but wherever it does feature, it leaves a mark. Vikramaditya Motwane will work on his next with Ekta Kapoor, who was bowled over by his first film, Udaan

Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 14, 2011)

Debutant director, Vikramaditya Motwane has made his entry into the industry known, accumulating several accolades for his film, Udaan, with seven Filmfare awards.

At a recent award function, Motwane mentioned that this year has been for ‘K’, implying Kashyap, who was one of the producers of his directorial venture.

The director’s statement could almost be considered prophetic, with his latest move on to another K – Ekta Kapoor.

He has become the apple of every producer’s eye and apparently, he has been meeting with several of them.

Motwane is currently in talks with Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. A source said, “Ekta is open to different kind of cinemas.

After the success of Love Sex Aur Dhoka, she is experimenting with new directors and different scripts. She really liked Udaan.

Vikramaditya is in talks with Ekta, regarding a few story ideas that he has.

Motwane ad Kapoor are working out the logistics and once everything is locked, they will announce it.

The movie will star a new male actor and female actress, in the lead roles.”

Motwane has denied any such talks but a close friend of his confirmed the story, telling us, “Ekta is very impressed with his work. They are in advance talks and the project should be rolling in the middle of  this year.”

Rumours are abuzz that Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson will be shacked up with the reality show’s dirty dozen

Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 27, 2010)

It’s a pity that singer Samantha Fox harks back to another era. For she too, like Pamela Anderson, could have been raking in the bucks—the Baywatch model-cum-actress, they say, has allegedly been offered to appear in Bigg Boss 4, based on the remarkably astounding fan following she enjoys among men in this nation.

International contestants have become a part of the Bigg Boss house since Season Two, starting with Jade Goody in Season Two (whose racial slur propelled Shilpa Shetty’s second innings in tinsel town) and Claudia Ciesla in Season Three (a German model of Polish descent).

A source says, “Talks are on with Pamela for the past one month. Bigg Boss is extremely keen on having her. Her most famous tele-series has the highest TRPs in Uttar Pradesh and the interiors.

She will surely yield high TRPs if she is in the Bigg Boss house. Talks are at an advanced stage at present. Apparently, Anderson is asking for an astounding amount to be in the house.

The logistics and monies have been worked out in order to have the international celebrity on the show. If all goes well, one will see her along with other Indian inmates. Pamela has had  controversies, which will be a good talking point for contestants in the house.”

Post Dabangg’ s success, Sajid Nadiadwala is allegedly asking Eros to shell out Rs 75 crore for Kick, the next Salman-Sonakshi starrer

Sonal Chawla (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 18, 2010)

Last Friday’s blockbuster has certainly changed equations in the industry. Sajid Nadiadwala, who is producing Kick starring Salman and Sonakshi Sinha, has quoted for a gobsmacking Rs 75 crore to Eros if they wish to acquire the film.

Salman’s latest hit Dabangg churned out huge profits for Eros, but at Rs 75 crore for his next, Eros is asking for some extra time to ponder over this.

A source reveals, “After the super-hit Dabangg, Salman and Sonakshi have become the hottest pair in town. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who is casting the duo in his next production, Kick, has quoted a huge amount for the film. Eros is very close to Salman and Sajid and have done Salman’s last two films, Veer and Dabangg.

Although Dabangg made big bucks for Eros, Veer was a major dud and the company suffered major losses.

Now, when Kick came on the table for discussion, Nadiadwala quoted a price of Rs 75 crore after considering Salman’s market value post-release of Dabangg. Eros has found the amount too huge, but is still working out the logistics.”

When contacted, an Eros spokesperson said, “We share a very good relationship with Sajid and he has not discussed any amount with us.” Sajid Nadiadwala also said, “I haven’t spoken to them as yet.

Aishwarya to make TV debut?

By Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 05, 2010)

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

If Amitabh and Abhishek did it, can Aishwarya be far behind? The Bachchan bahu, we hear, is about to make her debut on television. Convincing Aishwarya at this stage of her career when her calendar is rather full may not be easy, but if all goes well, she will host a show on national television.

The format is a chat show and the logistics are being worked out.

Aishwarya’s debut is a part of a ‘family’ deal. A source says, “Right from the time they signed Amitabh Bachchan for Bigg Boss, the channel had decided to have Abhishek and Aishwarya as well.” No prizes for guessing that Aishwarya will charge a bomb for her first foray into television.

While Aishwarya remained unavailable for comment, her spokesperson denied the news. On the other hand, the channel’s spokesperson simply said, “No comments.”
