Movie Tee Vee Enterprises, which has the rights for the negatives of Apna Desh, is taking Balaji Telefilms to court for using one of its songs

Once upon a time, Balaji Telefilms was a happy production house. But this year has been replete with legal hassles for them, especially in case of their film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

After the controversy about Haji Mastan’s family members objecting to the film, another one cropped up on Kangna Ranaut’s character in the film. And now, a company called Movie Tee Vee Enterprises is taking Balaji Telefilms to court for using the song Duniya mein logo ko in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

In Once Upon… the song was picturised on Ajay Devgn, Kangna Ranaut and Gauhar Khan and was a remixed version of the super hit original from the film Apna Desh. Movie Tee Vee Enterprises holds the rights to the negatives of the Rajesh Khannna and Mumtaz starrer Apna Desh (1972).

When contacted, Kewal Suri of Movie Tee Vee Enterprises said, “Yes, it is true and we are taking Balaji Telefilms to court. We have already sent the notices to them. It is our duty to ensure that we get what is rightfully ours.

Balaji has told us that they have taken the rights from Sa Re Ga Ma, who is also at fault here. How can Sa Re Ga Ma assign the rights to remake the song? We were not aware that our song was being used in the film, when it was under production. The legal notices have now More >
